I recently had the pleasure of meeting and working with Joleen for the first time - a Saturday afternoon. As I entered though the back and upstairs to the waiting area, I quickly noted that, even with the outside hustle-bustle of her Maine street studio, nothing but calmness permeated the surprisingly quiet waiting room and I thought..."good beginning." The room was spacious, dimly lit, and very inviting. After she finished up with another client, she came out and greeted me. As she approached and extended her hand to me, I felt instantly relaxed by her sincere smile, soft voice, and gentle eyes. These initial gestures gave an immediate glimpse of her sensitivity, and I felt pleasantly drawn to the anticipation of what I would soon be experiencing on her table. Once her last client was ready to exit, with a "notably" contented look about him, it was my turn to begin my session with Joleen. Her first question to me was, "Do you like a lighter or stronger pressure?" I responded that I liked a deep pressure, which put us on the same page, "Oh, good!" I was already "liking this!" As I sat and gave a brief disclosure of my hopes to attain a better physique and efficient use of muscles, Joleen spoke of some of her background and training that she would by applying to this session. Namely, hot rocks, hot towels, dry brush, essential oils, and she quickly, yet thoroughly explained the logic and reasoning for each. Although I had experienced only a few of the treatments mentioned, I was "wow'd" even before we began!! With some of the most impressive trainings and experiences I have come across, in my quest to find the ultimate massage therapist, I can wholeheartedly say, "Joleen delivered!!" As for the actual experience, words that best describe her work from my perspective, "Like a symphonic genious." She got right into her work, with extreme strength and sensitivity, tailoring her movements to the contours of my tired and weary, overworked body. I literally felt like I was a musical instrument of some sort, with every placement of her masterful hands knowing exactly what to do and where to go!! I was advised prior to scheduling with Joleen that she was "intuitive" but this was by far an understatement of her skills!! As with each tool she incorporated, a sense of utter mastery in her craft is what I felt. I was literally in a zone of complete submission, as she created a constant flow of incredibly enjoyable dissonance and re-capitulation which literally put my mind and body in a state of engulfment and pleasure like nothing I've experienced with massage. While she respectfully asked "permission" prior to beginning, for the mechanisms of her work, I asked that she not hesitate to work freely as she saw fit. After all, I am not the professional and did come to experience the benefits of her work. When she was finished, the level of satisfaction I felt created almost immobile state of mind...like I could have slept through the rest of the day; I was so relaxed! It felt kinda giddy and I was left awestruck; and so thankful!! But, all that would come out of my mouth was, "That was toooo much...!!" She smiled and responded, "Oh...in a good way. Yay!!..." While she thanked me for trusting her, I was speechless as to how to thank her for somehow managing to Awaken every cell in my entire body. I had worked with several other therapists, and was beginning to lose hope I'd find that dynamo that I had been searching for in a massage therapist - "The shoe that fits." I have definitely found what I was looking for in Joleen!! And, to the person who gave me the 411 on Joleen, Thank "You" !! I am soooo grateful!! She's definitely a keeper!! Madisun is the WORST massage therapist i've ever seen. She sometimes press so hard and makes me hurt, sometimes too light. I nicely asked her to stop pressing me so hard, she was so rude and kinda yelled at me. And she answered lots her personal phone calls during massage, end up i only got 80mins of massage out of 90. Heaven! From the second we walked in for our 90 minute couples massage we felt like we were in Heaven! Madison & Katie both greeted us & asked us typical questions & about our bodies, injuries, etc. They explained to us what they were going to do & use... asked about allergies, etc. We were brought into a big naturally-lit room w/2 large massage tables & plenty room for us each to comfortably change & not be too close together- which I was super happy & pleased about!! I knew then, both therapists had enough room to completely concentrate & maneuver on each of us simultaneously. Everything from their caring warm touch to the exfoliating thing they did on us, to the hot stones (my favorite things ever!!) to the neck/upper back stretching towards the end, they both individually focused on our individual needs & bodies as if they were working on themselves as they would want. I personally know Joleen, the owner and was hoping to have her work on me personally, because I absolutely adore her & her obvious healing energy & demeanor, however, I/we were//was 500 percent satisfied with both Katie & Madison's gifts! Joleen has a strong and intuitive touch. I like a firm masseuse who has the strength the get into my larger size body, and Joleen definitely has it. Often I find a massage therapist just doesn't have what it takes to get deep enough, but not so with Joleen.
