I was in need of some parts for my vintage 1965 Murray Astro Flite 26" bike. They let me dig through the bins of saddles, handle bars and reflectors, in which I came up with a nice set of bars, a vintage rear reflector and a very good set of middleweight fenders, all for $50. Using a bike repair stand, I changed out the bars using their shop tools. The guys there were friendly and helpful. All cities should have a place like this one for you to buy parts or do maintenance on your own bicycles. read more

When Vulture Space opened up years ago we came here and loved it. Had some lessons on trueing wheels, donated a bunch of bikes and parts. Good people. That was years ago but we went there today 6/13/20 at5:45ish and the bike we were looking at was a Cannondale Quick 6 Short bike. Vulture Space wanted $540 for it. Cannondale has it new for $480. Vulture Space simply said go buy it from Cannondale then. No budging on price for a donated bike. There is no loss only gain. In fact the guy said they are low on bikes so they probably are going to raise prices. The bike was for my son and I guess he will have to wait. For local non profit I'll stick to DreamBikes. read more

I have never been treated so badly! I got there before they opened. When they got there they said " oh, just let us put out the bikes and stuff" so I waited. Then no one came to me. So I asked for help again and again. I had to ask 3 times before someone helped me and spent an hour there. I was going to give them a 20 dollar bill to donate to their collective, plus paying my bill, but after the rude way I was treated, no. I will never take my bikes there again! read more

I actually did not have a good experience. I was referred to another store to visit the shop. Yes, the shop is nonprofit and most of the bikes are donated. Yet, I blame myself because I did misspoke. When I first walked into the door, I told the young lady that I didn't want to spend no less than 120 when I really meant to say I didn't want to spend anything more than 120. I was having a brain fart, which I found myself having lately. Thus, I take some of the Ls on my part. However, I advised the woman that I was looking for a hybrid bike and she was showing me mountain bikes that cost 230-300, which I had to correct her of the type of bikes they were based on tires dimension. At that moment, she explained she knew nothing about bikes. We eventually saw a bike that was in a nice condition and a cheap price range. It is what the volunteer said that caused me to rate the organization two stars because he was the only honest person there. While helping me fix the bike, he noticed that the bike was too short for me and he was right. After I purchased a bike, I did some research on the bike and found that it was a girl 16" bike when I need a 26" bike based on my height. Disclaimer: the last time I had a bike I was in the fifth grade, which is nearly 20 years ago. Just an idea of how unknowledgeable or how limited my knowledge is on bikes. Although the bike did not give me any really problems, looking back at it now this whole transaction was a bad sale even the buying of the bike rack for my car, which it hurts if I go in detail about that transaction. To disclose: When the gentleman/volunteer was trying to explain the height difference to the young lady about the bike she quickly dismisses him and says, "some people like their bikes that way". The volunteer adjusted my seat after noticing my knees were bent when the pedals were low the the ground, which help me control the bike a little better. As mentioned in the other comments, this place is a DIY establishment. Yes, they give you the tools in the assistance to create the bike that you want or prefer. Yet, due to my experience, I wouldn't neither recommend this place for anything. read more

This wonderful non profit has a great selection of used bikes and helmets. The staff is very knowledgeable and they do excellent repair work. They offer helpful suggestions and happily answered our questions. I will definitely stop back if my bike needs anything. NOTE: credit cards not accepted for small purchases. read more

Vulture Space is a bike collective and nonprofit where you can come in and repair your bike. They provide the tools and stand, and you do the fixes yourself. They have tons of new and used bike part that are donated to the shop. When I went in, I got a new front rim and switched off my old tire and tube to put on the new one. I ended up adjusting the brakes too with a little help from the volunteers who were there. Great place and great people...definitely coming back! read more

I was walking to the Grand when I passed this storefront, I stopped because I am looking to buy a bike and my curiosity got the best of me. When I walked in they were people fixing their bike's, saw a couple of kids were painting their bicycle frame. I checked out a couple of refurbished bikes they had for sale. From what I got it's a bicycle collective and you can repair your bike for free. They take bike donations- its a really cool concept, I will be going back. And its FREE!!!!! read more

I had a recurring flat tire that I had brought to another shop before. At the other shop they just changed the tube and it occurred again. At Vulture Space someone taught me how to change the tube, found the split in my tire, provided me with inexpensive replacements, and checked my work to make sure it was up to snuff. Very empowering and helpful!! (Though it did take awhile for me to do it lol) read more

This is the most amazing bike shop ever! I was in the market for a bicycle and purchased a vintage Schwinn cruiser (in perfect condition) for only $180. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Plus, if your bike has any issues, they'll teach you to repair yourself. This is definitely the place to go if you're shopping for a bike. read more

I love this place beyond belief. Last year I was hit by a car on my 1959 cruiser, and of course the frame was bent. I was really attached to this bike though and I wasn't ready to give it up. A bent frame is pretty much impossible to fix. I took it into many bike stores, all of whom either said they wouldn't try or said they would charge me for what probably wouldn't work. But I took it into Vulture Space and not only were they willing to try and fix the bike, but they did! And they didn't even charge (despite donations, of course). The people were so friendly and willing to help with anything. This is how I picture a bike shop, a place that actually wants to put people on bikes and not just make money, I'm still riding my bike today, and it's only because of Vulture Space. read more
