It was Inside Out 2 with grandkids, at over a hundred quid; recliner seats and snacks. M&M's added to giant buckets of popcorn, Coke Zero from a dispensing machine, Maltesers and other rubbish. The film was really funny but one could easily fall asleep on the recliners. Each seat had its own built - in tray. I remember cinema in the 1960's. It was nothing like this with plush seats that could seat you comfortably even if your waist-line was 90 inches. The seats here elevate your legs and drop you gently backways. Crystal clear sound and picture too. The 1960's local cinema houses had a smell. It wasn't overly pleasant with years of accumulated cigarette smoke creating an unmistakable odour. You could hear the motor noise as it widened or reduced the screen size/depth on the movie. The seats, like the carpet, were often cigarette burned, invariably when you put your hands on the seat arm rests you could feel the hard chewing gum left stuck by former guests once the flavour had gone. If the gum was on the carpeted floor it just became a black, almost solid, waterproof splodge and over time they accumulated into 100's of leathery splodges. The cinema seats folded up once you stood up. Midnight Cowboy was the first film that hit me right between the eyes and a whole lot different to Inside Out 2. In the 1960's we used to get a B movie as well as the A rated one and if we were lucky Pathé News with the clear, fruity and rich voice of Cyril Fredrick 'Bob' Danvers Walker, with just the suggestion of raffishness. Bob became the announcer voice on Michael Miles Take Your Pick. During films a girl would walk round with a tray with a fixed light on it selling mini tubs of ice creams, poppet chocolates (chocolate coated mint, orange, peanut or raisin). The Lowry Vue was a very run down and outdated cinema however with the newest renovation the cinema has been thrown back into the limelight. The cinema has massively cut down on the number of screens however they have significantly improved on the viewing experience. Each cinema screen is filled with reclining leather seats and pullout tables attached to them. This is honestly the best viewing experience I have had at a cinema in a long time and for the great price of £8. When me and my friend visited the cinema we used the Meerkat Movies offer so we received the 2 tickets for the price of 1 and it was totally worth the price!! Would highly recommend! read more

I called in the Vue Cinema at The Lowry after watching Countdown recorded at the Media City studios, I mainly called in here to get my 4 hours free parking validated and to take a look around. This cinema has been here and is one of the flagship areas in the Lowry Outlet, which is a small Outlet shopping centre in the vibrant Salford Quays with the theatres and TV Studios being moved here (well the majority) from London quite a few years ago with BBC and ITV all having offices and studios here. I've visited the cinema to watch a movie here a few years ago, it is quite a big space with multiple screens. The cinema is slightly more old-fashioned than Odeon, but it does mainly follow the traditional Vue decor, and is slightly more modern than other branches I've visited, which does include ones in the Leicester Square area of London, the British capital. The staff here seemed nice enough, he reluctantly signed for my parking, he originally didn't want to do it, but he eventually decided after I kicked up a fuss and persuaded him, it took him 5 seconds so I don't understand the original problem. He seemed nice enough though. Overall, this isn't the nicest of cinemas and perhaps it isn't the best place to go in the area, an area which has so many live events such as theatres and TV shows, so if you come into this area, you probably are best going to watch a show being recorded such as Countdown, or even go to watch a live theatre show, so I can't help but question the relevance of this place in a way and it is slightly basic in some areas, resulting in just two stars. read more

My experiences at this cinema are very different to my fellow Yelpers. This cinema is NEVER busy! I have been at Half Term holiday with about 50 screaming youngsters in tow and have never queued. I have been with friends after a shopping spree in the equally empty Lowry centre and it is as quiet as a mouse. I haven't found it expensive either, it charged me and the minions only 95p each for a morning film in the school holidays and the same offer is available at weekend morning too. I mean, this is half the price of a Happy Meal! Bring it on! Senior citizens are not forgotten either and on Monday mornings they can watch a film with a brew and a biscuit for £3. The only expense at Red cinema is the popcorn and drinks, but this is the same wherever you go, and if your ticket only costs 95p then you don't feel so bad paying through the nose for a Pepsi Max. This is the most child friendly cinema I have been to and is definitely one to visit. read more

This is one of my favourite cinemas in Manchester and the only one I'd even attempt to go to on a Wednesday (Orange Wednesdays means the world and his wife head to the cinema for two-for-one tickets). It's still known as the Red Cinema due to it's proximity to Old Trafford but it was taken over by Vue a few years ago. It's not the cheapest cinema in town but it is definitely the quietest and it has free parking...winner! Good offers and features including 'Cheap Day Tuesday' (tickets for £3.60 on Tuesdays) and 'Kids AM' (95p tickets in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays and school holidays). read more

THE best commercial cinema around. Having been a regular of Parrs Wood Didsbury cinema since it opened and seeing best part of 900 films there (thank the lord for unlimited cards), I was reluctant to change. However moving near Salford Quays I tried this cinema and wow. What a great place. Is it NO more expensive than any other cinema (update as of 2017, it is healer than any other cinema £4.99 for any girl any time and £3.99 on a Monday with a saver code from their website so if you take a can of drink and it's a night at the cinema for £4! Bargain). Sure food is a little costly etc but that's how all cinemas make money however they do not mind you taking your own cold food and drink, just not alcohol or hot food. The seats here are the best seats of any cinema I have attended. Super comfy and very supportive. I used to think Parrs wood seats were comfy but the Lowry is like sitting on your sofa in comparison. Having a gold class screen is great too. 48 huge living room style armchair seats complete with footrests so you can lie back and watch like you would at home. It has a bar for adult screenings (I don't mean 'adult' films as in raunchy haha) for over 18's only even if the film showing is a 15, so you can avoid the kids and have an alcoholic beverage with your film. Very civilised. It is now 2018 and this is still my favourite cinema. Still my favourite seats and with the lowest prices around there really is no reason you wouldn't go here. With 4 hours free parking for the cinema when you get your ticket validated then once again, another great perk of this great cinema. read more

I like this cinema as it is a quick drive from home and fairly quite - meaning more often then not it has just been myself and my friend in room by our self. Which leads to me being able to laugh as load as I want and shout obscenity at the film. Yes - I am a tarrible person. No - this is not how I behave is there are more people :) However what really let's this place down is bad design, why, oh why did you ever think it was a good idea to have people buy there tickets from the same place they get there food. It will not lead to more food sales - just longer ques and more upset customers. Also due to if lack of foot traffic and think they have allowed this place to become a little worn around the edges. This place could be amazing, however it need to TLC and it seems to be lacking. read more

While the prices are a little steep in you are not combing your visit with a promotion, I don't mind the extra expense as I personally feel this cinema has a unique charm that you will not get from other complexes in Manchester. I like that you can sit with a drink before your film starts, looking out over the quays to Old Trafford! The Red Cinema offers a different viewing experience called Gold Class, it is an extra special experience, the price will include a round of drinks and popcorn, plus the seats are amazing, very comfortable and they adjust so you can be in an almost lying down position. Waiter service is available from your chair whilst watching the film at the press of a button!! take note though... not all the films being showed will have this option, you can check on the website to see what films are available with this option. I would book in advance, especially at the weekend, as it can get VERY busy, I am sure i am not alone then in thinking that the seats and service in this cinema are probably the best you can get! read more

I really like this cinema and it has a good view of Old Trafford football ground. Its always clean and tidy and I think the seats are more comfy than the ones at other cinemas. Im not as keen on the car park compared to the nearby trafford centre, but I've never had a problem with parking. would recommend to a friend and definately will be visiting again. read more

Ok I need to have a moan about this cinema. I am sick and tired of the stupid ticket / food & beverage counter combination. In every Cinema I have ever been to there is a counter where you buy you tickets, this makes sense as everyone needs a ticket. You can then if you wish buy snacks, drinks etc from a separate counter. Why on earth this cinema has decided to combine the two is beyond me! It makes the queing take so much longer, especially annoying if your not even interested in buying their over priced drinks and snacks. On a plus point when you eventually have your ticket the cinema is large and the parking is free, just remember to get your ticket validated. read more

I have been coming to this cinema in the Lowry Outlet Mall for 12 years now - always pretty quiet and the perfect place to come if you like to catch a film on your own. I would advise to bring your own snacks (but I realise there isn't much fun in that)...the reason being that the popcorn price is a tad silly at £4.75 for a medium and £5 for a large. The bags of chocolate - like Minstrels etc are also £3plus....there is a Cadbury outlet store on the ground floor which is a good place to stop by first. Make sure you get your parking ticket validated - 4hrs free parking underneath the building, but only if you have spent £5 or more...which is easily done when you are visiting the cinema! read more

The red cinema is a great experience. They have 10 screens but one of the screens is called the gold class experience. In gold class it is a cinema screen that has 34 lazy boy loungers, it's double the price of a normal cinema seat but you get free popcorn and unlimited soft drinks served to your seat, they also serve alcohol to your seat. No under 18's are allowed in gold class. The other 9 screens have plenty of seats with lots of room. The cinema is very clean and has free and secure parking underneath. This is a must experience for all movie fans!!!!!! read more

Or Vue Salford Quays as it is now known, is a nice little basic cinema. It's a little dingy, the nacho cheese machine is always switched off, and there always seems to be something wrong with the toilets however, it has some kind of charm all of its own. There's a nice place to sit with a view out over the quays to Old Trafford, the seats are comfy with plenty of leg room, and the staff are always friendly. Make sure, however, that if you go at the weekend, you leave plenty of time, or book in advance. If you are going to see a popular film then there are always massive queues and there is only 1 till for tickets and snacks. However, during the week it is really quiet and nice! read more

This cinema rarely gets busy due to it's slgihtly odd location, but it's actually ar eally nice place. Good staff, comfy seats, and clean and smart looking. If you go on a Tuesday, tickets are cheaper, and you can validate your car park ticket for free parking, making it a cheap and convenient alternative to the city centre cinemas. read more

The Gold Class screen in the Red Cinema at the Lowry Outlet Mall is great. It is one screen with 16 'lazyboy' arm chairs, waitress service, you can drink beers and wine and you get a free bucket of popcorn with your ticket. No kids are allowed in - hurrah! The Red Cinema is a multiplex, but only one screen is gold class - it is recommended you book in advance, they usually show the most popular film that week. It is about double the price of a normal ticket but is well worth it as a treat or for a particularly long movie. Enjoy. read more

Been to this cinema a few times whilst up and about in Salford, and it's not necessarily something to write home about. Latest films are shown throughout the day yes, comfortable seating yes; but it is a rather small cinema and can be packed with Mancs causing a racket whilst you're trying to watch your film. Not my personal favourite cinema, but the free parking available, and big outlet mall connected to it may draw some people to this. read more

Red cinema(or Vue cinema) is situated in The Lowry Centre, Salford and is a nice alternative to the cinema at the Trafford Centre, offering cheaper prices and in my opinion much comfier seats. The cinema is generally quiet and it is not unbeknown to have the cinema to yourself in a weekday, which is great for students like me! Popcorn and drinks prices are a little expensive but then again which cinema isn't. The newsagents round the corner offers sweets and drinks for half the price so I usually go there and take them in with me. Staff are generally pleasant and helpful. The free parking is great and when you have visited the cinema don't forget to have a walk outside to the Lowry art gallery which is architecturally beautiful!. read more
