Ok, I came here on a church retreat with a group of about 50 people. I have been on multiple retreats before, and have been to multiple locations, and this place is by far the worst.
Pros:
-Fun Activities
-Fun Activit-oh, I already mentioned that
Cons:
-The rooms are bad. They have approximately 7 spiders a room (and I'm talking 5 inch spiders), some rooms don't even have doors or windows (they have a mesh that you attach to the door with velcro), and there are no in room bathrooms.
-Many of the rooms have a very bad system for temperature control, if any
-The facility itself has fallen in disrepair: Almost all the outdoor chairs are broken
-The meeting hall does not have sufficient air conditioning at all
-The food was decent, although one meal did have kids throwing up
-The bathrooms have spiders everywhere and are far from some of the cabins
-Many of the activities were closed due to a shortage of staff members
-There is hardly any grass, it's just dirt everywhere
-There was a lack of seats. Kids from the retreat had to move benches back and forth from the dining hall to the meeting are multiple times a day
-The bonfire was very very small, and everyone could only get one s'more.
-The employees were not bad by any standards, but they weren't exactly the best either.
If you are looking for a place to have a good retreat, from my experience, I would have to honestly say to avoid this place. At the end of the retreat I went on, in a survey, the majority of the kids said they would not like to come back to this facility.
Looking for a retreat center not too far from this place to go instead? I would check out Serra Retreat Center. Went there the year before, and simply put, it was amazing. Also good is Pine Summit, but that's in Big Bear.
Really, avoid this place. I know they have a lot of activities and it's cheap, but you get what you pay for. read more
