August 8/2023: A mediocre lunch from a mediocre restaurant. It was a really old style dining room. Chairs were ripped & it looked like it hasn't been updated since the 1980's. I could have looked past this if the food was good, but not so much. You know how you can tell when French fries were fried, cooled down & fried again? Well...the schnitzel ($20.00) I was served was double fried. It was hollowed out between the meat & the batter. Not a good item to serve your customers. The potato's were tasty & as was the dill sauce they hyped so much. I thought the dill sauce was good but not a whole lot of taste for $1.50 for a tiny container of it. Our server was very nice but even though we were the only customers at noon she seemed rushed & left the table quickly. This is NOT a repeat for me.

Got the Pork Shnitzel w pierogies, and it was to die for the meal. It was great. The lemon on the pork shnitzel was killer , and dill sauce was to die for

I always order food from here and it's awesome and delicious every time! My usual go-to is the huge Slovak Feast for $24! It can feed our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids)! Yesterday I decided to order the Oktoberfest platter for $60 (which came with 1 huge chicken schnitzel, 1 huge pork schnitzel, 2 smoked sausages, home fries, pasta, and a giant pretzel) plus I ordered some yummy perogies! I have to say the Oktoberfest platter did not disappoint and it was great comfort food! Also, the homemade dill sauce V makes is AMAZING (so much that she sells jars of it for $8)! This dill sauce goes with lots of things - like schnitzel, perogies, salads, chips...etc! I can't get enough of it! Since October is no more, I suggest you try V's Slovak Feast! If you don't eat pork, ask to switch to a chicken schnitzel instead! Many more things I still want to try, like the potato salad and goulash! Their desserts are awesome too!

Just excellent. Really great Slovak food! Halusky is hard to make and get ingredients for, but the taste was really authentic.

13 years. This is how long this business has been here. I had no clue, none. I had noticed this place passing by a number of times only recently when heading down to Lakeshore from the 427. I had to ask how long this place has been open because I had no idea. 13 years... wow. What makes this restaurant less conspicuous now is their new sign. It's easier to see and it stands out a lot more. That's how I found this place - by seeing it for myself. On the west side of Brown's Line along with that Cuban place, OBQ Burger and a bunch of other businesses this south Etobicoke neighborhood is sort of a mix of small businesses on the main street and homes. It's not hard to miss some of these places on your way up and down Brown's Line between the QEW/427 and Lakeshore. While there's no parking on Brown's Line V's does have parking behind their restaurant. There's not too many spaces but there was one left by the time I got there. The entrance is on the north side through a glass door and then a big thick door the kind you would probably have as a door to a house. The inside sort of feels that way, like a house because the decor has a very homey feel to it. Wooden tables and chairs, eastern European artwork and knick knacks are around and while the layout is simple and spacious you can see into the open counter to the kitchen where "V" is working the magic. It's obviously a family business as there's a young girl taking our orders, and a young boy at the table nearest to the kitchen doing his homework. There were several other patrons inside enjoying drinks and dinner as well. The feeling I get that this place is a locals kind of place and being around for well over a decade is a good indication that the business is doing something right to be able to keep things going for that period. My friend and I go out to eat every once in a while and I had chosen this place knowing that I've wanted to try it for some time. I had looked up the menu online and their prices seemed quite reasonable. While the namesake of the establishment does have schnitzel in their name they do have some other dishes such as souvlaki and other varieties of pork, chicken and goulash. This place for me definitely falls under the comfort food section for me. We both started with a nice heavy glass stein of Krombacher and placed our orders. My friend went with the wiener schnitzel dinner which includes a small side salad, a veal schnitzel and what is referred to as V's potatoes. V's potatoes as from the menu, "V's potatoes are boiled cubed and lightly pan roasted with house blend of spices". I had ordered the combo plate which is the same thing but it also adds breaded cheese and mushrooms on the side. Either of those are available as appetizers but are included in the combo (one generous piece of breaded cheese and 4 breaded mushrooms all made with the same type of breading as the schnitzel. The wiener schnitzel dinner is 14 dollars. The addition of the appetizers that make up the combo plate is basically another 6 bucks on top of that because the combo is 20 dollars. This is a great deal. We ended up sharing the appetizers and we both had enough to bring home as neither of us finished the meal. It's a lot of food for 2 men that can eat! The entire meal is as the place itself feels... like home or at least eating dinner in somebody's home. I didn't feel like a customer here - I felt like a guest. The food is really good by the way if what I had to say didn't come across that way I have a way of going on a tangent forgetting to complete my thought. Besides the food tasting great you also get a pretty generous quantity of it as well. As I said I couldn't finish it AND I shared part of my meal as well. If you know me that's pretty impressive as I it's not a common occurrence that I don't finish a meal. My bottom line, good food, good value, nice feel and not far from home... win, win, win, win.

Great choice! My husband is very particular, and it is hard to get him to try new places. He is ying to my yang in that my life is not complete unless I am seeking out little "hole in the wall" destinations. We had driven past V's Schnitzel House a few times before I caught him at a weak moment - hungry! - and finally pulled in. He was in no mood to fight me, however did say that if we walked in & there was no other patrons, we would have to turn around and leave ;) Good thing for both of us that there were two other couples lingering after finishing their lunches. Krombacher on tap was the place to start... then onto the Schnitzel! I fell in love with this dish on our trip to Vienna and I would say that V is as close as I have found. The only thing missing was the sweet counterpart to the salty (lingonberry jam or some sort of berry sauce). They did offer a Dill sauce that was yummy... but not the same. I was very impressed. Clean establishment and good tasting food. Let's be clear - this is not a place to impress a date or to go for a special occasion... it is warm, homey, casual & you would be welcome with jeans and a T-shirt (even if there was a stain). We will be back when that longing for Europe erupts!

Once we had walked into the restaurant, we were surprised at how beautiful everything was decorated for the Christmas season. The Christmas tree at the front entrance, along with all of the décor throughout the restaurant was a nice touch to our meal. We were brought to a table that was large enough for all of us (there were three children and two adults). Once we were seated, we were given menus, and given ample time to order our items. I had settled on the festive special, with dark meat and fries; something I always look forward to each year. We waited only about 15 minutes before our meals arrived; considering how busy the restaurant was, we were surprised that our meals arrived so quickly. I absolutely loved how delicious the food tasted; the meat was tender, the fries were hot (temperature-wise), and the stuffing was abundant. Such a wonderful price for all of the food that I had received, topped with Lindt chocolate. Service was also wonderful, as the server came over often to check on us, and brought over any items that we had asked for in record time. Definitely a great experience that I will be visiting again in the future!

The restaurant is small, but vast enough that you won't feel squashed. The "buffet" is situated to the side, with menu items framed behind it on mounted shelves and a mural painted next to the shelves. You tell them what you want and they scoop it for you. A TV plays in the very back and the drink cooler sits across from the buffet as well. We ordered the following: Cabbage rolls combo with buckwheat and cabbage on the side. It was basically stuffed cabbage. Hubs & daughter thought this was good, but it was no big deal. It was ok. Mushrooms and cabbage pierogi and cheese and potatoes pierogi - Overall these were good but we've had better. Hubs only had the mushrooms and cabbage pierogi and he said that he enjoyed this better than the entrees. Somehow, he didn't get to try the cheese and potatoes pierogi. Schnitzel with green beans and potato pancake- Daughter liked the schnitzel and thought that the sides were ok. Hubs thought the schnitzel and the potato pancakes could've used a little more crisp and that it should be fried a little bit longer. Taste wise was ok. The string beans were overcooked and reminded him of school cafeteria. He always wanted to try it but felt disappointed. Tripe soup - We over got to eat this while there, so Hubs had it a few days later. He said that this was pretty good. It was beefy and the tripe was nice and soft. This was one of the better tripes he's had in his lifetime. Daughter is diabetic and wanted diet soda but they didn't have any, so she ended up getting water. The restaurant was cute but it was cold. All the patrons were wearing coats. Place could use some heat. Service was friendly and quick, though. Glad we got to try it, though.

Tips: - The porchetta sandwich is divine!…read more- Biggies is beside Pizza Pizza and a few doors down from Kung Fu Tea. A recent Yelp elite experience put Biggies Gourmet Foods on my radar. For years, I have visited this plaza that has Biggies, but never noticed it until now. Biggies used to be called Porchetta Roll. I dropped by after work on a Wednesday. It was roughly 2:30 pm. This eatery is roughly a ten-minute drive from my workplace. It's in a plaza that I visit regularly. It has Cora, Kung Fu Tea, and Lezzet Shawarma that I like. It's easier to look for Pizza Pizza. Next to the orange sign is Biggies. I found an available parking spot fairly close to Biggies. I backed into the spot and walked over to the eatery. A female customer was ahead of me. She picked up an order and left. The nice man behind the counter cheerfully said hi. I reciprocated. He asked me what I'd like. I had looked at the list of sandwiches and mini meals before dropping by. I had the porchetta sandwich on my mind. After all, if it was a part of the original name, it must be good, right? He went ahead and made my sandwich. I saw him lightly toast what looked like a kaiser bun. The place smelled good. The porchetta is roasted for a good twelve hours. It has garlic aioli, mustard, sautéed onions, and arugula. He saw me looking at the Biggies cap. I loved it so much with the cute bear logo. I let him know that I'd be back for it and the meatball sandwich. The photo alone of this sandwich made me salivate hard. He handed me my sandwich in a paper bag. I thanked him and wished him a great day. He hoped that I'd like the sandwich. I left and headed to my car. I was still stuffed from lunch. I ended up running a bunch of errands before heading home. I had this sandwich as a snack watching the Winnipeg Jets game. This sandwich was massive! The man had wrapped the sandwich such that it was upside down with the arugula at the bottom of the top bun. It was interesting. I loved how tender the porchetta was. It was so flavourful and yummy. The garlic aioli and mustard were the perfect pairing of condiments for this sandwich. I loved the sautéed onions that brought out the natural pork flavour while providing some sweetness. I normally don't like using arugula in salads or anything because it tends to overpower everything with its peppery, bitter, nutty taste. I feel like the baby arugula chosen for this sandwich wasn't as in-your-face in boldness as it can be. It was a light peppery flavour that worked well with the other ingredients. This sandwich was so good. I am still thinking about how awesome it was. The porchetta sandwich goes for $12. It is packed with a lot of love. I'd definitely return and get another one. It's worth it, as the sandwich is massive. I had a great experience at Biggies. I'll be back for more good eats. (110)

I ordered a small 6oz grilled chicken plate (42g protein), with potatoes, caesar salad, and biggie's sauce. First off, the portions are MASSIVE. I was so full and had so much leftover potatoes after my meal, even though everything was delicious and I was straight inhaling it all. The chicken was brined, seasoned, and grilled to perfection-- I also don't typically go for chicken as my first choice of protein but this breast was JUICYYY. And with the biggie's sauce? Total flavor bomb. Caesar salad was just as expected, it added freshness and tang paired with the chicken and potatoes. The place is small, but clean and has a decent amount of seating available. The guy at the front was super friendly and gave great recommendations on what to pair my chicken with. I also really liked the music they put on, whoever was on aux has a great taste! The location and exterior of biggie's is unsuspecting for the quality of food they serve so it definitely classifies as a hidden/local gem. If you're a gym rat or in need of a balanced, filling meal that won't leave you feeling bloated or disgusting, I highly recommend their plates. However I will definitely be back to try their porchetta and fried stuff. 10/10 spot.
