This place is worth the hype!!! Don't skip on the quesadillas with shredded pork they are phenomenal! When you find the location and you walk down the stairs, you kind of wonder where you going and then you find the small 15 top restaurant I can maybe hold 35-50people. You sit down you get waited on by friendly staff and you get amazing food. We were very impressed by the nachos. They were our main course we shared with two people. I would recommend trying different meats. We had Al Pastor and their classic. We also came back a second day and tried the short rib with the kimchi rice. I couldn't tell you a kimchi rices, but it's amazing and it was completely gone. The short rib was very good, but their rice was amazing. Guy Fieri got it right when he recommended V's Cellar. Every time I come back I want to order everything, from my go-to order of 3 tacos, or something new like the specials and burritos. The food is so good it's hard to decide between so many wonderful choices. The warm lighting and beautiful bar and wood decor makes this a great spot for lunch or a night out. I really hate to give them such a low rating because the service was super sweet, and they are one of the few restaurants that offers a number of vegan options. However, I just cannot overlook how disappointed I was in the food and drink. While waiting for my order to be prepared, I decided to try a shrub. This particular one had sherry in it. I can't remember the name, maybe because it was not worth remembering. The fusion nachos, I substituted the meat for a vegan meat. I didn't realize that was an additional $4 until receiving the bill. The vegan meat was mushy, the beans were super dry, the cheese basically non-existent and nachos were overly salty. I ordered my food to-go so I had to make the best of it. I tried to use the guacamole to help cut the saltiness of the nachos. The vegan bulgogi taco had the same mushy vegan meat, was way too wet and also very salty. My wife and I went to V's after our excursion in Juneau off the Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady. We find Diners Drive Ins and Dives restaurants wherever we travel and hoped to enjoy the dishes Guy Fieri enjoyed at V'S. We were disappointed by the news of new ownership and changes in the menu but disappointment turned to joy when we ordered from their brunch menu and had the most incredible Chilaquiles and Eggs Benedicto! The food was outstanding, the service friendly, and owner Gonzalo earned our forever gratitude for personally driving my wife's phone to the Virgin security crew at the port when she left it at the restaurant and we didn't realize it until we were back on the ship! Two stars rather than one because the food was edible and didn't get me sick. However, it was the worst meal I can remember having eaten in three years or so. In general, the tacos and rice bowl were just borderline tasteless, with stale tortillas and overcooked soggy meat. There's not much more to say. Unfortunately it is still a dim dark basement but the service was decent. The nachos have an odd texture and they were extremely sweet. The burrito was as if someone dumped sugar all over it. We were starving! After a long day we decided to try V's, we ordered the pork nachos, pozole (soup), and the sampler taco platter. The nachos were the best thing we ate, and the soup was so salty I returned it. Because we shared the taco sampler I can say my favorite was the Korean chicken, the pork was the same as what was on the nachos and had nice flavor but nothing noteworthy. My coworker stated the other tacos were ok but nothing to brag about. I did appreciate the 2 bite rule- if you take 2 bites you can return the item and exchange it because they do want you to be satisfied. this restaurant was recommended by iconic guy fieri, so my bf and i were excited to try this place! upon entering the restaurant, we were actually surprised that we were heading down into a cellar, which was super fun because it's true to their name! inside, the vibe seems dark, romantic, and quiet which was funny because we're eating tacos and nachos. we both got two tacos each & shared a smaller portion of the bulgogi nachos. you get to choose which protein goes on the nachos, and you should order the bulgogi! it's a sweet and savory addition to the crunchy and yummy nachos and we went to flavortown! the tacos themselves were alright, but was just basically meat on a small tortilla. i wish there was some toppings on there to add more flavor and depth. bf got two of the most spicy meat options there, and according to him, were not very spicy at all. next time i hope we try the bowls or specials on the menu (also recommended by fieri). the service was good and the staff are nice as she explained everything on the menu, which was appreciated and informative. read more

Delightful Asian Fusion restaurant located in downtown Juneau! The elements of fusion here is combining Asian and Mexican cuisine with wonderful results! On the menu they have a taco sampler. I can never resist tacos so I picked three from the sampler. One was a Ginger Tofu taco, a Korean BBQ taco and a chicken taco. All of the tacos were wonderful and offered a unique spin to the taco concept. V's also had shrub drinks which were very good! There were a couple of different ways to combine two of the drinking vinegars together for an intriguing combination. I got a mix of pomegranate and jalapeño in a bubbly Italian soda like fashion. I've been visiting Juneau off and on a few times a year for the last 25 years. Seems very few places stay around for long. Even when the same names remain, ownership and management changes. I hope this place sticks around. I was the only person on a cool Spring evening. No ships in the harbor yet so I wasn't surprised there weren't any customers when I climbed down the stairs at 5:30. I imagine there will be a wait when the ships come in. My waiter was very attentive (obviously) and explained the concept of the restaurant. Bottom line, it's a taco place with Asian influences. As prices go, it hasn't gone crazy like some of the other places in Juneau, which was hit hard by Covid. Three tasty tacos for $13 and a cocktail for $10. Desert was overpriced however. $10 for a Creme Brûlée. Not all that expensive but more than I expected because the price wasn't on the menu. I imagine this place might get really loud because it's essentially a cellar with little to no sound proofing. Lastly, other reviews complain about the long wait for food to come out. I was the only customer and waited about 15 mins. I was just wondering when I'd see my three tacos when they showed up. They were good and I'd recommend getting the sampler of 7 tacos if there are two of you. If you have a ship to catch make sure they know and get there with time to spare. What an eccentric culinary gem! In general I sort of a shy away from and shun fusion joints... but boy howdy this place is a stand out in a spectacular sort of way. Yeah, it got accolades on Food Networks DDD - but this joint lives up to the hype... as much so or more than my visit to the Taco Bus in Tampa years ago. The Short Ribs rocked... the Nachos (with Ahi)... yeah get these. The craft cocktails - Shazam! The fusion sauce... you could poor it on your shoe, it's that good. We came in Sunday night (7/18) where they turned us away bc they were too busy. We made reservations with the waitress to come in the following day (19th) at 6pm. When we arrived at 6pm the next day, the restaurant was closed. We were pretty sad about it because we'd been looking forward to it all day. We decided to shoot for lunch there the following day once again. We got in and it wasn't nearly as busy. The waitress was helpful with the menu and our order came out fairly quick. The burrito I got was smothered in a sauce that resembles sauce used for korean fried chicken (yangnyeom chicken), which is mainly garlic, gochujang, soy sauce, and sweetener based. It was like eating a burrito with korean fried chicken sauce, which wasn't bad at all but a confusing culinary experience for a Korean person. I think it would be cool to come up with a spicier sauce as well, maybe something similar to the sauce used for korean spicy squid. Overall it was a good experience. read more

Their house chili paste was the perfect spicy accompaniment. Fun to try if you want something a little creative and different. My only slight hesitation is the restaurant is underground so in terms of COVID, there is not as much ventilation as I would have liked. Man do I hate having to tell wait staff about bad food. V's was recommended to us by a local and we love fusion food so we were super excited to try it. What a disappointment! The pozole was so bland and under seasoned we asked for salt...it didn't help. No acid, no seasoning, no spice, not even any porky unctuousness. Just bland. We also tried the taco sampler and with the exception of the ahi, they were all mediocre at best. I'm not sure how it's possible to take all these amazing flavors and make them bland, but they did. The other frustrating thing was that the 7 taco sampler was advertised as $34 to try all seven, but the bill came with a $1.50 surcharge for the ahi....which is one of the 7 tacos! Luckily our waitress made it right and took off the ahi charge and the pozole. I appreciate the staff's willingness to make it right, but would not recommend dining here as the food is mediocre at best. read more
