I've wanted a real set of wheels for a long time, after bagging my 2019 accord I decided it was time. I was immediately drawn to the Work VSXX, I wanted 19's or possibly 20's. Like some sort of fiend I'd go back forth between the VR wheels IG and their website hoping to find a set that I could grab for a deal and build them to the specs I wanted. Saturday afternoon I saw my set, a weird set because one side was dark grey and the other gold, a set of work vsxx in a 19" size. I immediately commented on their IG and I told my ole lady that we needed to get their ASAP. With her being somewhat okay with the expense I emailed them, then I waited.... They're not open on Saturday's so I had to patiently wait for Monday, at 10 I decided to call them and the phone went straight to voicemail. I emailed again, and sent a text to the number on their IG, a couple of weeks ago i missed out on a 20" set and I couldn't wait any longer. At 1PM I took my lunch and made the drive, I was greeted by Phil who knew exactly what set of wheels I wanted. Phil put up with a 1000 questions I had and not once did he roll his eyes at me as I kept asking questions he's probably heard a million times. I first dealt with Vr Wheels back in 2016 when I purchased my first set of 3pc wheels, Phil assisted me and everything went very smoothly! Fast forward to 2019, I saw a set of Blitz Technospeed Z1 in 19s which are pretty hard to come by, so I purchased the wheels on the website (1/31/19) which were priced pretty cheap and added an additional $500 for them to relip them to my spec. Phil got in contact with me the next day to discuss specs and once he had the information, he got the ball rolling! A week goes by (i didn't contact them because I knew they were busy) and on that Friday (2/8/19) i notify them that I will be picking them up Monday since I'm coming into town from out of Phx,Az. They tell me they may be done but not sure...I decided to take the chance and go to California anyways and to my surprise, they were finished early that day! My best advice is to be sure of what you want, have the money, and follow through! I couldn't tell you how many times I saw their phones blowing up from people calling asking questions and I can assure you those guys are BUSY BUSY! They are really trying to accommodate everyone and I can see why they don't pick up their phones sometimes or can't answer to emails in a timely manner...I'm telling you give these guys some time and they won't disappoint! Recently ordered some Leon Hardiritt Orden wheels from their website after seeing them for a while on Instagram. Phil tells me he sees the order went through via email and states he should get them out today or tomorrow. Tomorrow rolls around and I send another email asking if I will receive any tracking info when they ship. He replies and tells me yes. So I'm waiting and never get shipping confirmation. He emails me on the 3rd day telling me they are shipping and gives me tracking number. 1 day off. Ok. We all make mistakes. Whatever. First let down. The wheels arrive and I inspect them... Although the wheels were refinished in Diamond Cut Finish the center caps look like they were from original condition. I would have thought the center caps would have been refinished as well but I guess I'm wrong. Second let down. Order tires, get them mounted. One wheel was missing the valve stem core. Luckily the shop I went to had extra. Get home to test fit and one tire is already flat so we air it up. Hmm. We chalk it up to the tire guy not airing it up. Do the test fit and decide I should wait for camber arms. Couple hours later - tire is flat again! Soap and water around the wheel and notice air is coming from the WHEEL! This has to mean an improper seal on the outside of the wheel. Come on! I emailed Phil back and let him know my issue. It has been almost 24 hours and I've not received any response back! I've tried to call several times and no one answers. I thought this would be a good company to work with, but after each day and let down it seems it is not. I'm giving them a chance to fix what's wrong but getting in touch with them seems to be very difficult. UPDATE 1/30/19: Phil has responded back to me and apologized for this issue. He was able to provide a partial refund to cover costs of tire mounting and dismounting also for sealing the wheel. Overall I feel better about the situation, but still unsure why a wheel was sent to a customer unfinished specifically with no sealant at all. They need better Quality Control! This added a few more days to the process of buying my new wheels and for this I will not return business here. read more

Honest review from someone that has been going to VR Wheels since they were called RB Wheels and used to work on Nissan Skylines at their old shop on Nelson Ave. Anyway, I was very disappointed in the way they treated a long time customer on my last visit, I mean, they know me by name, cars, etc. Every time I go here, the owner Jack, asks me if I still have which cars, etc. PROMPTNESS: 4/5 -- When I took my wheels to get repaired, most of the time, they were done in a timely manner. If the repair was simple like a curb rash, if they weren't busy, they've fixed my wheels while I was there. WHEEL SELECTION: 3/5 stars -- They used to have a LOT of used JDM wheels, but now it looks like they are trying to push their own brand, GMR, over other wheels (don't get me wrong, they still have a lot of used JDM wheels, but now their inventory online lists 50%+ GMR wheels along with other wheels). GMR's designs are pretty much copied from other wheel manufacturers that did it first; Work Wheels, BBS, SSR, etc. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 1/5 -- I took my last set of wheels to get the lips polished and they pointed out that one of the wheels had a slight bend (not noticeable by the eyes, but on the balancer). They fixed the bend, but in doing so, they put a handful little nicks in the wheels. I assume the wheel was held at these points while getting bent back into shape (they confirmed this -- saying they had to put those marks on the wheels because that's part of the process to get the bend fixed). Okay... SO WHY NOT SAND THE WHEEL LIPS AFTER THE MACHINE LEFT THOSE NICKS ON THE LIPS FROM FIXING THE BEND, THEN POLISH THE LIPS, INSTEAD OF RETURNING THE WHEELS TO ME WITH POLISHED LIPS AND POLISHED NICKS?? So to fix one problem, you add another problem after the 1st initial problem is fixed?? And that's why the nicks being there are justified?? This just boggles my mind, and they stood there telling me "Well, thats from the wheel repair to fix your bent wheel". IF YOU'RE GOING TO ADD DAMAGES TO WHEELS THAT WERE NOT THERE PREVIOUSLY, YOU BETTER FIX THEM BEFORE RETURNING THEM BACK TO THE CUSTOMER. Bottom line, my wheels still have those marks because they were not going to sand/repolish the lips to fix those nicks unless I paid. Maybe I'll update this review later on when OR if i go back to them for any repairs, but for now, I'll give 2 stars. read more

I have never written a yelp review but I feel like people need to know how VRWheels operate. Earlier this year I dropped off a set of HRE three piece wheels to get refinished. They were dropped off at the end of June. VRWheels was in the process of moving at the time so I expected to wait longer than normal to get my wheels back. Which was ok with me. Well, almost three months later and after constant checking in with the progress of my wheels, I received my mediocre refinished wheels back. Fast forward to today when I pulled the wheels from storage to throw them on my car after setting up my suspension the way I wanted. One of the HRE wheels refinished by VR is had a flat tire. Really?! After three months you can't seal the wheels properly? I called them to inform them about my issue and the person on the phone downplays the situation. No offer for partial refund, no I'm sorry, not a word. He also tried to blame the valve stems which I'm sure isn't at fault since they worked beautifully before the refinishing. This is the second time I have used VR for refinishing three piece wheels. Both times have led to the situation I am currently stuck in. I've had friends experience the same issues. I don't know if it's because I'm not Asian or drive a cool JDM BRZ or Honda but their customer service sucks. I think it goes without saying that I will be not using VR anymore for my wheel refinishing needs. Consumer beware. read more

Here we are 8 weeks later and now only update I receive is after multiple emails reaching out. First off I would like to say this review is based off the wheel repair services offered by vr wheels. I didn't purchase any wheels they had in stock, but they did have a whole warehouse full of different wheels to choose from. That being said I got my Volk TE37 repaired: 2 of them had rash that needed to be fixed and then I got all 4 wheels converted from 5x114.3 to 5x112. The conversion only required the existing bolt holes to be drilled out a bit larger to press in the 5x112 inserts. They came out fine and the inserts look great. The 2 rashed wheels were repaired perfectly and machined straight. They don't fill in the rash with bondo or paint body filler like most wheel repair places. So the wheels do need to be refinished after wards (ie. powder coat or paint.) VR offered to re powder coat there but they could not beat the price of the place I normally go to for powder coating. That's the only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars. (Check my other reviews for the powder coating place.) So all and all the experience was good, I would definitely go back for future wheels repairs. read more

VR wheels has a large selection of wheels imported from Japan. I spent hours there looking through them. The guys there know their stuff. If you have any fitment questions, they'll probably know what size you'll need to get the look you want. Want the wheel face changed to a different color, they can do that. Found the wheel you like but its in a different bolt pattern, they can redrill it for you to fit. You already have wheels but looking for a place to refinish, powder coat, or chrome, they do that too. Full service shop for wheels, they do everything. A friend of mine had a set of wheels resized with different barrels to make them wider, they did a great job on those wheels. I've bought parts and had tires mounted by them, so far I've always had great service. I just dropped off a set of wheels last week for chroming, I'm looking forward to seeing them soon. read more

Not sure where to start with my experience here. I Bought 2 lips and had them chromed through VR Wheels. It took months. Communication is TERRIBLE here. Phones never work. There's no status or work update. I had to initiate a chargeback to get a response from these guys. All this for 2 lips. When I got them, the chrome was already chipping. The wheels were already assembled at this point so I emailed Phil expressing how dissatisfied I was with how long and the quality of the lip chroming. Phil was supportive and stated that once I dismounted and removed the lips, they would need to be rechromed. I emailed Phil back recently and not even a year has gone by since the I received the new lips. They need to be re chromed badly. These lips will be on a sandwich plate meaning the bubbling will show. In recent emails after I wrote Phil back to get them rechromed he claims weather and etc can play a factor in bubbling and peeling. When I stated that I've had the wheel lips from Avant Garde for over 5 years and they aren't bubbling or peeling, I got no response. I honestly don't care WHO or WHAT "major companies" you guys do wheel lips or chroming for. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Phil has the nerve to charge me for work they never got right in the first place. This will be my last time doing business with them. I don't care what you guys own. I don't expect this to be fixed so I'll leave this review solely for future awareness of what to expect from VR Wheels's read more

We called Rene to let him know and he suggested we send an email to a different email address. We tried and all attempts bounced back. We called Rene to let him know and he said he is "receiving a ton of emails right now so the error is on your end." He also asked if we included the at sign in the email. (Side note: We are located in the Bay Area. If we couldn't format an email address properly we would have much larger issues to focus on.) Clearly he provided a fake email address. I do not know what the purpose was. As an online automotive business owner I know the importance of every customer service interaction. Crappy service and rude associates tarnish the auto industry. March 8th - Order a set of BBS RS wheels. Two 10" and two 9" A month goes byand still no word of them being finished. I shoot them an email after a month and a week goes by. They tell me in a couple days my wheels will be done. A couple days goes by and I get 4 tracking numbers. April 16th, my wheels arrive. They look beautifully done, I will give them that. I go to my buddie's shop to go get the tires mounted and balanced and he notices something... ALL FOUR WHEELS ARE DIFFERENT SIZES! I received, ONE 9-1/2" wheel, TWO 10-1/2" wheels and ONE 10" wheel. I decide to keep the 10" inch wheel and ship back the other three. April 29th. My 3 wheels arrive and I take them to my buddy again. He calls me and tells me ONE WHEEL IS STILL THE WRONG SIZE. At this point it's been almost 2 months and I've lost my patience especially having paid in full already. They decided to build me a new wheel and ship it back to me Wednesday (tomorrow). What's odd (and not surprising) is the tracking number they gave me is yet to enter UPS database, leaving me to believe the wheel is not coming tomorrow. I am absolutely livid and I hope NO ONE buys through this company. They have barely apologized and have given me zero compensation for their mistakes. It's easily the WORST business I have ever come across. Their customer service is non-existent and whoever answers their phone has ZERO knowledge as to what is going on around him. I am literally mindblown how they messed up not once, but twice...and hopefully not a third once I receive this last wheel. If I never contacted them, they would never update me as to what is going on and who knows if they'd even ship my wheels to begin with. read more

I purchased a set of VIP Modular wheels that were in fair condition, I needed new two step lips and no one in San Diego, could service me. I literally visited 5 different shops and none of them had an account set up where they could order me the custom two step lips that I needed. I made a drive up to LA and the trip was well worth it. The owner of VR Wheels "Jack" took on the job of chroming out my wheels and ordering new lips. He promised me that it would be finished within 2 weeks, and he delivered. Much respect to business owners that can keep their word to their clients, from one business owner to another, it's easy to see why you guys have been in business for over 10 years. What can i say, the guys here are great, friendly and know their stuff. I recently purchased a set of wheels from them and they let me test fit the wheels before i purchased them which was a big deal for me because the wheels i had in mind for my car were actually really low offset so they would not fit my vehicle. I was bummed out because i had waited so long to find these wheels and they did not fit but the owner assured me that they had a set coming in in two weeks so i waited and just like he said they arrived!
