Stumbled upon this spot while getting off the Underground on the way to Portobello Road. It is…read moreacross the street from the Prince Albert Pub which is really what my attention was on. In fact, I would have missed Amorino except for others in my group were not amused by a Pub with a namesake associated with a sensitive body piercing. Plus, they are gelato fanatics so this place pulled them in like a moth to flame. It is a clean, well-run shop with plenty of flavors available. The display case was quite appealing, especially the written descriptions of the flavors. There is always at least 1 lactose free option as well (on the day we were there, it was Chocolate Sorbetto) and they are very hip to give you test samples before you make a decision which is a very friendly touch in favor of the customer. While this might seem to be the norm, this shop is also in a high tourist-traffic area and I would imagine that putting up with idiots on vacation all day long might get old pretty quick. Nevertheless, they seemed very welcoming and happy to serve us which is always nice to experience as a consumer. I did not sample the goods since I was wasting my calories this trip on pub suds instead of gelato. But those in my group that did partake are somewhat authoritarian experts in the craft of frozen, dairy-based desserts. And they proclaimed it to be on par with typical European style gelato. Nothing more and nothing less and it scratched the itch of a palate in need of a gelato fix. It was not cheap but nothing in the UK is. If you are in the area and in the mood, I think you can't go wrong with a stop at Amorino for a taste of good-quality gelato.

I dig this place near Nottingham Hill!…read more Was walking past and decided to stop by. Massive amount of flavors available. You self order at a kiosk. Good food, vibes, and friendly employees. Recommend when in NH area of London.

I keep going back to this location, because I think Patisserie Valerie offers the best VFM…read moreAfternoon tea. 25 pounds for 2 people. And at one point of time, Amazon was selling vouchers that brought the price down to 19Pounds. For TWO people. 10 finger sandwiches, 2 quiche, 4 scones, clotted cream, 2 pots of Bonne Mamman jam, 6 mini pastries and constant supply of tea - each person can choose a different tea if you like. It is a very good deal if you have people who just want to see what Afternoon Tea in London is all about. Plus they serve it until 7pm which is a huge bonus. For visiting friends who spend the whole day maximising time at museums and other sight seeing locations, this gives them a chance to experience Afternoon tea without compromising on time at the British Museum or the Tower of London. Their pastries are very good quality and the eclairs are always served just right, not frozen hunks of pastry with fresh cream (that cant even be reheated) I sometimes pick up a ham and cheese croissant and coffee to go and those have been very good too. Their problem area has been the hot meals, I've been served burnt toast and not so well made eggs on one of my first visits, so I've never risked a freshly cooked meal again at this location, which is why it lost a star in my rating. But I'd comfortably recommend them for Afternoon tea, pastries, croissants and coffee.

Yay! My rush to get home after a yelper's event paid off. (I am SO sad)…read more Anyways, this brand spanking new Gelato store right off Portabello Market is exactly what you need after a hard day vintage/ antique/ market shopping or post meat feast desserting. The restaurant itself was big and airy and I was sad to see on the website that there is an ice cream garden that we didn't notice on our visit. A small is £2.50, but it is smaller than other gelato shops in town. However, the ice cream is bursting with flavour so you don't feel cheated by the slightly underwhelming quantity... I had a dark chocolate (very rich) and yoghurt (mmm very refreshing and so much better than froyo) split and thank god I was the last to get ice cream and everyone was stuffed with their's, or else I would have ended up like Sam and having to get a second one to enjoy for myself. Yum! And a great way to finish up a lovely afternoon with my fellow yelpers.

I know the siren call of a gelato stand well and I will not let you be drawn into my ice-cream addicted hell! Such a great selection here from the traditional to the interesting. We oohed and aahhed over bourbon vanilla and then the wonder that was mango and raspberry. The flavours are so amazing with real depth and a small is just too small! Plus they have lots of little Italian cookies for about 50p each that you could get crumbled on top.... no, no just stop it! Sadly it is a little pricier than most places, but temptation is always gonna cost you in the end...
