Workbench Furniture Restoration

This review is in regard to their home furniture repair service…read more My wife and I recently moved to St. Louis and had some damage our dining room table and other items, when the moving company transported our household goods. I filed a claim and Workbench has contacted me to schedule an appointment for an inspection/repair of the damaged items. Lindsey, the office manager, was very friendly and professional. She answered all of my questions and called a day early to confirm the appointment. Norm, the owner of the company, was the actual person that responded to the housecalls. He called about 15-20 minutes before he arrived. He documented all the damaged items by taking pictures and writing a description. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was very happy with the service and his professionalism. He repaired the chip on the edge of the dining room table, and I can't even tell there was ever a chip. I would highly recommend this company on any repairs, and I believe they also have some furniture for sale. Though the items may be limited since they aren't a furniture store.

The piece turned out better than I could have hoped for. It was beautifully finished to the stain color I had requested. I would highly recommend. It does take some time for the restoration work, but he does amazing work so completely understandable.

Sheryl made all the arrangements for it through email so all I needed to do was drop it off. On the day of drop off, Jeff looked at it and seemed excited to see it restored, which impressed me and made me comfortable in my choice. He suggested adding a cushion but I wanted crewel needlework fabric like the original seat I remembered, which I assumed they wouldn't have. Jeff stated that he knew someone that might be able to help and made a phone call. Moments later, photos of fabrics were sent and I had a crewel pattern selected. So the estimate was adjusted to include a reupholstered seat with springs and seat foam. Approximately 8 weeks later, my rocker was ready and I'm delighted with the outcome. This rocker has been handed down through my family and will go on to my children and their children. It's an investment in our family history and the care Jeff's team took to restore it is admirable. It could have been "just another rocking chair" to them, but Jeff appreciates the historical significance of family heritage and the respect for furniture that has survived the Civil War era and beyond. I strongly recommend Jeff and his team to return your heirlooms to their days of glory.

Choosing a home with the original wood floors was a must-have for us. When we moved into our 1895…read moreTower Grove East home a couple years ago, it had exactly what we were looking for--beautiful heart pine floors throughout--but they were in rough shape. They showed years of deferred maintenance, damage from the previous owners' pets, and a few footprints from their DIY refinishing job-gone-wrong. After speaking with a few companies, we were skeptical of whether we'd be able to bring these old floors back to life. When we met Jim at Abeln Floor Systems, we instantly saw that he was passionate about restoration. His expertise is unparalleled and we knew he was the right person for this job. Jim also had an inventory that would help us repair a few tricky areas that required special attention and odd-sized boards. We kicked off the job by doing a walkthrough with both Jim and his crew member Kenny. This ensured we had a shared expectation of outcomes and gave us all the opportunity to flag any areas of concern before the work started. Throughout the process, both Jim and Kenny were incredibly transparent and proactive with their communications; we received a daily check in call to share updates, ask questions, and confirm we were satisfied with the work so far. I couldn't imagine a better outcome and my biggest regret is that we didn't do this project sooner. I mean, look at the pictures!! The floors are immaculate and have made such a significant impact in restoring this home's character. Jim and Kenny were both amazing to work with and I'm so thankful that we were able to do this project with them. If you are looking for high-quality outcomes and a trustworthy crew, look no further. This is the best team you could hire in greater St. Louis.

We have wood floors throughout, except for for whatever reason two of the bedrooms they put this carpet into the middle... Which, of course when we moved in one of our dogs promptly decided to use as a bathroom whenever she wanted. The carpet didn't look great, didn't smell great, collects dust all that bad stuff. Plus, it just didn't match the rest of the house. Jim was able to come in here and start on Tuesday and by Saturday the floors were ready and we could move the furniture back in. The finished product looks amazing and they were just a really good group of people to work with. If you're going to have somebody in your home for a few days in a row it definitely helps to have friendly and trustworthy people. I would highly recommend him to anybody.
