Vons is my favorite supermarket in our area. Most of the employees are super fantastic, a few are kind of rude, but I stick to the nice ones. The store is always clean ... I shop in every the store, & if I can't find what I'm looking for, they will stop what their doing & help me. I'm literally in the store almost every day. If they don't carry a brand that you want, they will go out of their way to start stocking it. The management is wonderful & it shows in the employees moral. read more

This store has a loooong way to go before it can be viewed as "average." The workers are rude and insensitive and I fault management. I spoke with a worker named Irma who works in the floral shop. I asked her if anyone could help me with a question I had about the DMV kiosk. She stated that she could not help me. I asked if anyone else could, and she did not even try to find anyone who could. What wonderful customer service! This incident is not the first time I've had with the cold and insensitive staff at this Vons grocery store. Which reflects very poorly on the management and the leadership there. Plus, their food prices are HIGH compared to other grocery stores in the area. Yes, they have their periodic sales to entice customers to enter and buy food, but those special disappear after a week or so. I mean c'mon.. every.single.time I come here the people at the register cause some kind of delay. I am here once a week and I swear it never fails. However, if you can calm yourself long enough you'll find that they have a great selection of packed food items. The produce selection is great, loads to choose from. Club card sucks but you do get some great prices if you use it. I wish they'd do away with it and just price things the proper way. I still don't understand why I have to fill out a form, go online or call to activate my card. It's been four months and I am still using my moms landline to get the discounts.. bodegas rake in my info with a swipe or the quick entry of my number, why can't such a large company get with the times? My parents wanted the deal on fried chicken, from the deli here... so I accompanied my Mom to buy chicken this past Saturday. The deal was $4.99 for 8 pieces of chicken with a Vons card, but of course my mom couldn't find/locate/or remember if she had a Vons card (I was distracted looking at other things to offer my card)... Well, the cashier didn't hook my mom up with another Vons card number or even offer her a new card! So, she paid $6.99 for chicken that she reported tasting old and awful. The service at this Vons has been amazing for me. In July of 2018 I ordered sub sandwiches, fruit platters, and birthday cake here for my son's 1st Birthday and the staff was so knowledgeable, helpful, and nice. This month I ordered fruit again and cake. The cake decorator knew exactly what I wanted and it work out perfectly!! I have been going to pharmacy for year the past pharmacy PIC was amazing and the techs Mary Ellen and karley most importantly has been really amazing ... ever the new pharmacist completely suck ... as a tech myself I would expect the pharmacist to be have some apathy for patients and actually look at profiles and patient history!!! Sharon you know your FRESH Fish and especially "Chilean Sea Bass" that it is best sold FRESH n not frozen. We who enjoy a good cut n fresh not frozen know the taste n texture of this fish. Your Mgr needs to listen to you since you're the direct contact with us the customer and what we want. So normally I would not write a review about a large chain place since everybody knows about them. But I have to about this store. Seriously, every single employee seems bitter and unhappy that they are working here at the store. One guy sweeps the floor and just walks past people without saying excuse me or even looking at them. He has an eternal pout on his face every time I shop here! Same with the cart people. I saw someone trying to help out the cart person and they never even said thank you! The checkers are equally as unfriendly and unhelpful. They don't greet you when you come up to the register and when you leave, they don't thank you or even say goodbye. They are on onto the next set of groceries to scan. The gentleman ahead of me asked to purchase a roll of quarters and the Checker rudely said they don't have quarters. She told him to go over to the customer service desk. I watched as he went over there to buy a roll of quarters and the customer service person there told him to go to the bank! Oh my God they seriously did not just say that they don't have quarters to sell & "go to a bank"?!! I told the guy to get quarters at Ralph's... I just bought a couple rolls from them a few days ago and they were happy to oblige! This may be a nice store to shop in, but customer service wise, one of the worst ones I've shopped. Is it the city or is it just this one grocery store that has unfriendly employees?! I love Ventura and Channel Islands and this whole area but for some reason this grocery store we've never had luck at finding anyone even somewhat Pleasant. And they weren't just unpleasant to me, a couple of other customers said something about it while I was there that is what prompted me to write the review. Will bad reviews stop anyone from shopping here? No. But they will prevent customers from being pleasant to the employees which only makes their day longer and more hellish! read more

This is a Von's location I frequent. One because they have an US Bank, and two cause I like their deli. I love the smoked ham on the bone here. It's in the deli counter and I get it sliced fresh. Also in the deli counter is their havarti cheese. The ham and the havarti pair wonderfully. This Von's has the best baked chicken! So much better than el pollo loco and cheaper! Lois the beverage manager is great!!! Willing to help you find what you need. They have an excellent selection of tequilas and single malts. The only complaint is the beer selection is horrible. Today was my 85th delivery order from over the past 2 years. Being a long time loyal customer means nothing to Vons. The service has progressively gone from average to bad to worst. I realize that there is a pandemic but the poor service starting before then. At first during the early days of the pandemic you were lucky to order food with a minimum 2 week wait. Over the months delivery is more frequent but with more problems than ever. For several months I have paid an extra monthly delivery fee so that I can get a smaller delivery window. Door Dash is the absolute worst thing that ever happened to Vons delivery. The Door Dash drivers always get lost, never deliver on time and usually forget several of your ordered and paid for items. Vons told me that to have a higher chance of getting a Vons driver you had to expand your delivery window and put on your delivery order DO NOT USE DOOR DASH. When you do that you end up waiting all day and guess what, a Door Dash driver still is sent. Vons constantly eliminates half of your order and claims they are out of stock. Yet when you ordered these items you are told that they are available. I can only summarize by saying that if you use Vons delivery service: plan for the worst because that's what you will usually get. Do not rely on them as your only source of food delivery especially if you are a disabled senior citizen like me. read more

This bakery is a joke!!! I ordered a round cake for my daughters birthday, I asked for "Frozen" colors, which to me means light blue, lavender, maybe a light pink. Instead I get hot pink and dark blue. It has got to be the ugliest cake I have ever seen. I told the bakery clerk and she argued with me saying that those are the Frozen colors. This is the way I like my grocery stores to be...like Safeway (same thing), this one is the new, upgraded store with floral dept, bakery dept, deli, pharmacy, the whole thing! The meat dept and seafood dept have a wide variety as well as array of organic vegetables (sometimes at a pretty good value too) and it would most likely satisfy your every grocery need. I particularly love their breads so I make it a point to shop there for them. The people are friendly and helpful, the store is well maintained, clean, organized and well stocked. Parking is plenty and the shopping complex has cleaners, fast food restaurants, etc. and located in a very convenient location on Victoria. I think I'm gonna love this place! read more

In all honesty, I only come to this Vons because it's convenient location (I have to take either Victoria ave., or Harbor blvd. to get anywhere I need to go on any given day). I live for self checkout because, you know, sometimes you just don't wanna make small talk. & the in-store Starbucks is a God-send. Granted that this leech-Starbucks spot (as opposed to the many stand-alone location sporadically located around town) doesn't honor every single deal/offer as advertised because they're just a "mini" store, the baristas are generally so much more hospitable, in regards to their customer service skills, & more importantly, with their drink making (sorry, drink "crafting" if you're the real technical type). There's always parking, like seriously, any time of the day/night, or day of the week. & when it comes that time of the year, the Girl Scouts hang out in the store front with their cookies. read more

I've been having some not so great trips to vons here lately. The past couple of times, I've made it home to find that I purchased expired products. I can agree to some extent I should be checking expiration dates on things, but on the store's end, they should be checking their products and cleaning out the bad stuff. I've purchased things that have been expired for two weeks... such a shame that they let thing sit for that long. I like that vons is conveniently located near my house, and the workers are nice, but this expired product nonsense is getting annoying. Please check your products!!! I am new to the area was at first disturbed by what I thought were high prices. I joined the "loyalty group," Von's Just for You ( I think that's what it's called), and as much as I hate such programs I do save money am used to the game. The store is clean, attractive, well organized, and the employees are helpful And upbeat. The produce section is great, as is the bakery, and we find good buys on meat. It's becoming my "go to" place. Am shopping here less. The produce department needs to be better organized. Prices are often not clearly indicated. I am really getting tired of the loyalty program. Wish they would just have some good prices without the hassle. read more

This place is in Oxnard on Ventura Avenue in that Sea Side Bridge shopping mall I think? Nice shopping center BEAUTIFUL store! When you go in it feels soo nice, not a rough area! I love the little Starbucks station there even though it doesn't have the same variety as a normal Starbucks coffee shop does, it has a nice vibe and just makes you wanna chill out and spend your whole day there, and also there's a nice sitting area nearby which is perfect for relaxing before you begin shopping. The pre-cooked food there is decent, much better than the Ralph's Market! I love the selection of wines, and it has so much nice food there, and with the Vons club card it's not that expensive. Today I filled our house with groceries for only $85. I prefer Food for Less for my grocery shopping because the prices are much better and the vegetables and produce are wonderfully fresh, especially for their prices, I also goo the 99cent store for my veggies as well, but I come here when I don't want to drive around a lot and I'm willing to send a whole day there because it's a lovely shopping center and there are nifty ways to save money there. read more

Got my son's birthday cake here. They had a lot of characters to choose from but didn't have the Ninjago one I was looking for, so I went with something close in theme. I got the vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and bitterxream filling and it was so good. It was a hit with the kids and adults. I got to indulge knowing it was a little bit healthy with strawberries. OH as I walked past there hot food section it smelt soooo good. I will have to stop by for lunch one of these days. read more

I shopped at this establishment for the first and last time on Saturday 8/20/16. I went there with two other women, C and N, and a 4 year old boy. C, the mother of the 4 year old had the shopping cart. We all split up tasked to pick up various items from various aisles. I picked up a bottle of Zaya rum. I carried it around in my hands until I could find C with the cart. When I found her, I placed the Zaya in the cart. I then walked around the store without a cart, once again, looking for additional items. I grabbed those, located C and put them in the cart as well. I broke away from my friends once more. I had nothing in my hands but my purse. Towards the back of the store, I was confronted by two individuals. A male and female (both 40-somethings) walked up to me demanding that I open my purse because an employee claims to have seen me place a bottle of liquor there. I opened my liquor-free purse thinking that would be the end of it (something I did not have to do). Instead the employees then demanded I tell them what I did with the alcohol. I laughed saying "I'm actually having this experience right now. I placed the liquor in my friend's cart" I was laughing because I didn't know what else to do. The experience was so surreal. They asked where were my friends again. I said "there they are right behind you." This experience got all the more real as I walked with my friends towards the front of the store. I was so angry. I asked employees I had passed in the aisles who it was who imagined that they saw me place liquor in my purse. I got blank stares. I asked our checker. She didn't know. She seemed perplexed that it had even happened. So I went to the original female who approached me. She said it was "the girl in the bakery". I went back to the bakery and "the girl in the bakery" wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Much less, have a conversation with me. She didn't bother to acknowledge my presence. So I sought out the manager. The manager had no idea what was going on but apologized. She explained that sometimes customers get carried away and report to employees some imagined crime. I assured her that it was not a customer. She repeated the same line. I again told her that it wasn't a customer. Meanwhile the original male who approached me stormed up to the manager while I was speaking with her, saying that they are pulling up video. I said "yes please let's see this video". The manager said that she knows nothing about the video and apologized again. That wasn't at all satisfactory. But I left knowing that I was never going to receive an apology from the two 40-something employees who originally approached me with their presumptuous attitudes. Nor would I ever receive an apology from the "girl in the bakery". Plus I felt that I could not really press any further because then I'd be that stereotype. That stereotype that the racist checkers were expecting all along. It was like I'd suddenly become that person who's actions all of a sudden speak for and reflect upon an entire race of people. If I'd really taken to the level I had wanted, it would have been yet another example those people use to justify why treating people of color like they are less than human. As if outrage I feel and express for being treated less than human is justification for being treated less than human. See that ridiculous circular logic? What's most offensive is that on the following day, a friend posted a review for this store in support of me. An employee (presumably the original male who approached me on Saturday 8/20/16), replied to my friends post calling ME a ghetto rat. Funny, the only information that man has about me is that I'm black. Racism is very real. Most of the time it is way more covert than this and I can happily ignore its existence. But this has been a stark awakening. I am so angry and hurt. I can't tell you how long it took my girlfriends C and N to console me as I cried in the parking lot. And yet, no doubt, the hateful offending Von's employees have no remorse. read more

Today I went in using WIC and felt like I was getting discriminated by your cashier Veronica. I come to this Vons very often and had previous encounters with her before and she is actually friendly. This is my first time using WIC and she was her normal friendly self to the customers in front of me, I told her that I was using WIC and her demeanor instantly changed. She looked annoyed and was super short and tudy with me, my mom was behind me getting her own groceries and noticed it as well. I understand that it's frustrating to ring up WIC due to how time consuming it is but that doesn't mean that she should make me or anyone else using WIC or any other assistance feel less than any customer in the grocery store.
