Naturally, I drove a good bit out of my way to investigate this pork steak for myself. It is in fact legendary and you should go here for yourself if you're ever within range of this place. To start, it's in a very small town and the vibes are as down-home as it gets. It's got a solid menu of recognizable bbq options and plenty of seating to accommodate your group. It's clean and the people are as friendly as could be. Service was quick, prices were beyond reasonable. Now on to this pork steak. I, myself do not have a lot of experience with pork steaks so I'll do my best to describe what I had. It looks like a steak. It weights 2lbs. It's on the bone and fork-tender. The fat is rendered perfectly and when you go at this thing with a fork and knife, it basically falls apart into what you'd normally find on a pulled pork sandwich. It was smoked beautifully, it was flavorful and delicious. I'm never going to forget it. I understand why they're famous for it. Just amazing. The au gratin potatoes were excellent as well and I'd definitely order this plate and everything on it again. Long story short this is an out of the way, hole in the wall kind of place in a small town. The menu online said my order came with 2 tortillas and I got home and had 0. I was not upset, I'm staying nearby, so I explained to the dude over the phone what's going on and I am 100% prepared to pay for these tortillas, I have absolutely no problem with that but as soon as I say they didn't come with the meal I'm told "NO ENGLISH" and hung up on. I call back 4 times, no answer, no I'm a little upset so I call while I make the 3 minute drive to the restaurant and when I get inside it's 1:15pm on a Wednesday and there's maybe a few people in the restaurant but the guy up front is hiding. He comes up and I am not terribly mad at this point but I say hey man, you think it's cool to hang up on me? I'm trying to pay for more tortillas. I probably said "are you serious" as I turned to walk out bc if he says I can't be there than by law I can't and that's just what it is and then as I'm leaving "you're lucky I don't call the police and have you arrested!!! I literally had 2 feet out the door with my back turned so I turned my neck half way around and said "arrested for what man I'm gone." And that is the most accurate version of the story you will receive but I legitimately felt discriminated against because I was treated like crap beginning to end. I had to delete another 500 words bc apparently it was too long.... Never had to do that before. Had the manager just said "I'm sorry man it's been a long day let me get you their tortillas it will be $1.95" I would have said "no man I understand thank you" and left another tip and came back to the restaurant 50 times while I'm in town lol....
