What a surprise! I decided to just cruise around a Von Maur to see a beautiful building with Uber class clothing & things (but clearly not in a price range I consider "responsible.") Boy, was I wrong! Their quality was at least as high as I expected... Top notch, even Uber Class! But, to my great surprise, the prices were competitive with discount houses!!! I should have been shopping here for years! The quality was so spectacular, and sale prices lower than the cheapest discount stores, that I could not resist buying my wife (not with me) a Spectacular sequined jacket and pants outfit for almost giveaway prices (on sale)! If I told you the jacket cost $16 on discount, would you believe me? Well, check me out. They have massive discounts of top quality clothing at set times each week. I just, by chance, got lucky it was one of those days... Oh, and the store interior was as beautiful as the outside. Simply Uber Class! At hard to believe DISCOUNTS! Enjoy! read more

Moving to the ATL area from Houston, I had never heard of Von Maur. After going to North Point several times, I finally ventured in here, and I am so glad I did! Women's dresses:I have been able to score a really good deal on a special occasion dress here twice! Always check the sale rack. Customer service: always excellent. Every time I walk into a new section of the store, I am typically greeted by an employee within a minute or so. They also have free gift wrapping here, so I like to buy my Alex and Ani bracelets here and get them gift wrapped for free. Women's shoes: they have a good section of everyday shoes and designer shoes. Be sure to check out the women's clearance shoe room if you like a good deal. My favorite area: the make-up counter! I always used Clinique products until one day Keturah invited me to come try out Lancome products. Well, needless to say, she got me hooked, and is now my go to make-up consultant--even when I still want to purchase a few Clinique items. I am a huge fan of Von Maur when I need makeup, dresses, shoes, and jewelry. I always have a great time shopping here! Come check it out for yourself. read more

Special praise for the men's department here at Von Maur. Came here to look at some hat's-Men's hats are definitely better made and stylish than women's. I met some of the friendliest and most personable employees here. My previous experience at Von Maur was the women's department at Perimeter. I found the place stuffy and unfriendly...First of all the store is beautifully decorated with cozy decor and music that feels more like your favorite oak room (if I had an oak room and went hunting) than a department store. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a fireplace somewhere. As far as selection is concerned they have stuff for every budget from Docker's to Calvin Klein to Ralph Lauren. Best of all, everyone gets the VIP treatment whether you buy or not. Now that's class! read more

Very poor service in the shoes department. The guy looked strange at my child it's just not right. Not going back.

Went to Von Maur to look for some new shoes. I needed some nice shoes that were not total dress shoes. As I walked over I was immediately greeted but said I was just looking around. I then saw some shoes I liked and asked for a certain size. They did not have the size but the department manager Bert Swofford brought out some shoes he said were very similar. They were a darker color that I actually ended up liking more and were extremely comfortable. Bert said he used to own a sneaker store, and he clearly knew his stuff talking about brands that I had not heard of. I ended up with a great pair of shoes and a greater knowledge of some nice shoe brands. Nice to get some good customer service when it feels like that is lacking in so many places these days. read more

There's something about this place that makes me NOT want to shop here, and I can't really put my finger on why. It has a very upscale feel to it, but I don't know...maybe the quick glimpses of the clothing just didn't really catch me. The employees are very friendly here, and it's never busy. I typically park here to find a closer spot for that very reason. I was coming in with my daughter to go look at rescue puppies down in the mall area, and I honestly otherwise don't like coming to the mall at all. I will only come if I can't do free returns shipping or if I'm shopping for her or if my boyfriend wants to shop, because he needs to try stuff on cuz of his size. So here I was just trying to mad dash through when my daughter caught some things she wanted to look it for my boyfriend's birthday. They had an okay athletic section of Nike, Under Armour, and others I'm sure. She found a shirt she really liked, so I bought it. Being that it was a gift, we actually got complimentary gift wrap. You just run up to customer service and they will text you when it's done. So convenient! We chose the paper, but what I didn't know is they put this obnoxious sticker that says Von Maur on it. I'd rather have a nice gold bow, but beggars can't be choosers. Anyway, it was nicely wrapped, and that's a really nice perk when buying a gift. Price wasn't bad for the shirt, either. I'm not sure this is my kind of store, but maybe I should give it another chance when I am forced back to the mall again, hopefully not any time soon. read more

Von Maur is like a hidden gem at the busy malls like Perimeter and North Point. I can always get a great parking space :) ! Unlike Macy's, which often looks like it's been ransacked, VM is a tranquil environment where you can still get a friendly and attentive representative to assist in making selections, help in the dressing room (instead of venturing out half naked to get another size), and even give you a heads up on upcoming sales. Whenever I go to the mall thinking I am doomed to go to Macy's I end up at VM instead. Their clearance shoe room at NP could use better organization. It was a wreck. (But with a bunch of pigs in there throwing shoes around and not returning things it can't be easy). Prices are... Well, pricey. It's a department store. But they have great sales and amazing service, and I'm willing to shell out just a tad more to not be tripping over merchandise in the aisles. read more

Von Maur oozes class and elegance. The Von Maur at North Point Mall is absolutely impeccable. From the swift piano playing to the tidy, well-lit departments, shopping at Von Maur is an absolute delight. Their customer service is one of their strengths for sure. You will always be greeted with a friendly smile but not will not be pushed to buy something you don't want. They have a great selection of high quality brands of make up, shoes, and clothing. The prices are by no means cheap or thrifty, but every once and a while, you can find yourself lucky with a great sale. I would definitely recommend strolling into Von Maur next time you visit North Point. read more

Ok, the "Meh. I've experienced better" only applies to Von Maur for pricing. The markup is crazy. I didn't realize it until I had already purchased a designer product that I thought was pretty much price fixed to realize that Von Maur had totally marked it up. I could have gone to the designer's store and purchased it for much less. I guess the mark up is to cover the no interest credit card the Von Maur is known for. Either way, I don't want to overpay so that someone else can carry an interest free balance on a credit card. I wish I had noticed this before I got all the way back home in the big city because now I have drive back out to Alpharetta to return the item or wait until the Perimeter Mall location opens to return my overpriced product. I'm not very happy about this. Other than this foolishness Von Maur is great. Customer service is awesome. The store is beautiful. I would go spend a whole day just chilling in the women's lounge avoiding the rest of life if that was really a viable option. There is a live pianist playing all the time. I don't even think Nordstrom has this anymore. It really is a great shopping environment. It almost feel out of place at North Point mall. Selection seems a little limited but this seems typical for North Point. I'm guessing the Perimeter inventory will be beefed up compared to this once it opens in November. I would shop here again but the whole price markup issue has left a bad taste in my mouth. I will be cautious before purchasing anything from here in the future. read more

I'm a big fan of Von Maur. I do sometimes wish they had a bit better/younger selection on some things, especially the petites section and dresses. I often have to sift through the Contemporary or Juniors sections to find something for me in that regard. To combat the view that they have a lot of older-skewing items, I want to share with you some of the things I have bought here: Kate Spade purse, Skagen watch, North Face jacket, Sorel boots. The customer service is phenomenal and that scores big points with me. I love that they have free hemming and gift wrap. I have their charge card which has no fees of any kind whatsoever. Makes it a bit too easy to buy things and pay them off over time with no interest. I think every Thursday they have new sales (might be online only, I don't know). I will warn that the website definitely doesn't show everything they have, so it's worth just browsing around the store to see everything. I wish it did though, as the website has a handy "Wishlist" feature if you're registered for an online account. read more

Two things: I can't stand malls and I loath department stores. Give me bargain shopping or online shopping any day of the week. But sometimes you just have to go to the mall. Case in point: we needed matching dress shoes for my infant and toddler sons. And after no luck at other stores, we broke down and tried Von Maur. The woman who helped us in the children's shoe department was so nice and helpful. I don't know if we were dressed to look like we "belonged" in the store or what, but the service was impeccable. And though they didn't have the shoes we wanted in brown, we walked out with two pairs in black. Then I got home and found the exact same shoes in brown online for about 50% of the price with free two-day delivery, and because our plans had changed, I suddenly had time to wait for their arrival. Fast forward to today when we came back to return the unworn black shoes. The four of us walked into the women's area of the store and scanned for where to return. Maybe it was my worn out jeans and sneakers. Maybe it was my husband's Red Sox hat and hoodie. Maybe it was our two sons sitting (quietly) in our double stroller. But the middle aged associate standing just inside the door in the nearly empty department tried her very best to ignore us, even as I walked up and said hello. I could almost see her calculating how to avoid responding in hopes we would keep walking our butts into the mall. But I asked where we could make a return. Shocker! Not only could we "afford" to be in her store, we'd actually bought something there previously. She proceeded to process the return but with a very cool air the entire time. Even my husband commented on our way home that the associate clearly thought we didn't belong. I guess I should have used my big Coach purse. The store seems otherwise nice, and I probably would have a better opinion had we not returned the shoes in that department. But give me online shopping any day. At least then I don't have to worry about dressing the part so that I don't get unnecessary, judgmental attitude. read more

This store is amazing. The customer service and prices cannot be beat. It's just like the old fashioned department stores- in the best way possible. They wrap and ship your purchases to you for free. Great for when you are traveling. I walked in and looked around in the handbags department and was immediately greeted by Mindy. She helped me shop (with no pressure to buy anything), answered my questions and then shipped my purchase to me at home in Los Angeles. She even included a sweet thank you letter. Customer service was excellent. Walked in with my husband and niece and about seven to eight sales persons greeted us in the different sections. One sales associate even let me know that if I wanted to ship or send gifts that there was no sales tax on items shipped and that gift wrapping was complimentary. The store was clean and I did not feel like I was searching for one item in a sea of mismatched items. The sales items were also very good. The children's sale items were much cheaper and better quality than Macy's. read more

I love this store. When I was in Indy for the Superbowl they sent us a bunch of swag but I never got to stop by because, duh, I was kind of busy with parties and that little game thing. However, I wish I had, because after visiting this store in Atlanta I can tell Von Maur is great! If the Ritz Carlton had department stores this is what they would be like. I love the piano, lounges and bathrooms. The attentive retail associates were more like personal shoppers than sales people. The prices are super cheap for what they offer compared to Bergdorf, Neiman's, etc., but they also don't carry ultra luxury brand names. It seems like they care more about quality merchandise than brand name, which is great and some other stores *coughneimans* should take a hint. They have free gift wrapping all year round, and it is legit! No crappy paper or bad wrapping jobs. read more

Beautiful. Elegant. Simple. - I like how well organized this place is (but then again this is a far cry from Ross or Marshalls.) Name brand items like Coach, MK, Kate Spade, and the list goes on and on. The price tags on their items are what you would expect from their name brand products. There were a couple of items that did not have a price tag... but I believe it is safe to say that the people that work and shop here believes in the old saying: " if you have to ask how much it is, then you cant afford it. " I enjoyed browsing and walking through the store. The highlight of the entire establishment, in my humble opinion, was the lovely lady who played the piano. She played beautifully and definitely adds a touch of simple elegance to the entirety of the store. It is a shame that most people do not take the time to sit and listen to her play as I did. However, if you truly enjoy a nice shopping experience and money is of no object, then come shop here. read more

I love this store! It reminds me of shopping with my Mom and grandma when I was kid. Back then there really weren't big shopping malls around. A shopping trip meant going downtown to the big department stores. (Anybody from Ohio remember Higbee's or Halle's?) I remember we'd make a day of it and have a nice lunch a the store's cafe, most of the big department stores had them. They would also have these ornate lounges where you could rest your weary feet in a relaxing atmosphere. Von Maur's warm customer service and grand decor all remind me of a time when these stores were all about making your shopping experience something special. Sidenote: They don't advertise their sale racks, but if you ask they're happy to show you. I've found some really great sale items here! (Nike's @ half price and a pair of Tux pants for $15) read more

Von Maur is the shopping experience you have always imagined you would have through Christmas movies as a kid. It's glamorous in a day and age where the most popular clothing is athletic wear (which they have by the way). It's employees are helpful and knowledgeable in a day and age where people are just supposed to help themselves to everything. It's relaxing and heartwarming through a live pianist performing everyday in an age where we have mostly canned music pumped in to stores. Coming to Von Maur, you get a feeling that you are actually classy, beautiful and worth being taken care of by a world class staff and store! I LOVE Von Maur!! read more

ME-MAW YES, MOMMA NO! I don't get this store. I tried to visit this store previously but felt that the clothing appeared dated and just not to my liking so I left fairly quickly. After reading some of the reviews, I thought that I may have made a premature decision so I decided that I would check it out again since I would be in the area. Nope, I was right, this store reminds me of something straight out of the 60's. Although I absolutely love the ladies room, with its thoughtful dressing room for mommies. The individual toilets are very nice because they have full doors and little shelves for you to rest your items while you handle business. This place just has that "grandma" vibe that is just not my aesthetic. Also, i really believe that a department store is only as good as its shoe store and this shoe store fits in with the overall vibe of the store, nothing special. The reason that this store still gets 3 stars is because I did not see the entire store, (only certain areas of interest), so I am only evaluating what was seen. I am not going to give less than three stars just because it's not to my liking. It is still a fairly nice store, just not for me. However, I can say that customer service is indeed top-notch! read more

I've seen lots of advertising for Von Maur and today was my first day to check it out., I've gotten to where I mostly shop at "outdoor mall" type locations but sometimes you just have to do it old school style and hit the mall. I needed something dressy for a wedding and hit all the regular stores like Macy's & Dillards without any luck. I was hoping for something different about Von Maur but was dissappointed. The store itself, though brand new, had a very old feel. Lots of wood, brass and tiles that looked like bathroom tiles. The carpeting looked very dated and the layout was nothing spectacular. Basically clolthes on racks with no real displays. The clothing itself was no different than the other stores at the mall so I'd recommend saving yourself a trip. read more

Needed a bathrobe for my 5 yr. old grandson for Polar Express Day in Kindergarten....have you ever tried to find a bathrobe for a child??? Called Von Maur, spoke with Francesco in the boys dept & he found me an adorable dinosaur bathrobe. When I got to the store, he was sooo helpful and friendly even picked out the paper to wrap it in to send to my grandson. Couldn't have had a better experience. Virginia was also on duty the night I was there and she too was a great addition to your sales staff. The store was a welcome respite from the hectic atmosphere in the mall. Made my Christmas shopping so enjoyable. Very nice selection of merchandise. They gift wrap and ship (Fed Ex) for free which is a BIG plus...and if you have priced UPS and Fed Ex lately, this is a deal (saves waiting in line also). read more

While recently visiting a Von Maur at the north point mall near me, I was looking to purchase a bathing suit for my girlfriend. We got no help and undeserved attitude from a rather unpleasant employee (female, pale, above ear haircut, tall, rude). While my girlfriend did find a bathing suit she really liked and was going to purchase, this employee made it hard to want to buy anything from this store. She whined about getting a bigger size, had an attitude about helping us, would not allow my girlfriend to open the door to show me the bathing suit which was in no way inappropriate and laughed in my face when I told her to give my girlfriend her phone to take a picture of the suit so I could see how it fit, seeing as I was going to pay for it. I felt very offended the entire time and once my girlfriend was out of the dressing room she continued to gossip to another rude coworker about my girlfriend and I. I've looked at this situation in every aspect I could and I can't seem to understand why either of us would've deserved this rude treatment. Needless to say, even though the bathing suit looked great and my girlfriend really wanted to purchase it, we left empty handed because I would not allow myself to do business with people such as the employee described above. Von Maur could've easily made a $130+ sale if it were not for this woman. read more

Northpoint Mall location---get your act together! Perimeter mall blows you out of the park in customer service even though you're the same store and I like your stuff... I go online and straightforward return policy says as long as I have the receipt I can bring item back. Straightforward no ifs, ands or buts. However I bought a pair of gray UGGS that cost me a pretty penny at the perimeter mall location within two weeks I got a hole in the front of them. I brought them to the Northpoint location because I was closer that day. When I went to the shoe department this super snooty guy with a nasally voice told me he cannot take them back because there were worn. I said really I called Perimeter mall where they were positive and they said it would not be a problem as long as I had the receipt!! He said no sorry completely contradicting the return policy. He was so rude I marched upstairs-asked to speak to customer service manager and she sheepishly apologized and said she would return them! This store needs to get their act together in regards to their return policy I had never heard of a big company not being clear with its employees on the policy because depending on who you talk to you get different answers. read more

It's a mid to high end boutique department store that sets itself apart from the others through its level of customer service, beautiful facilities (a women's lounge you could spend hours in), and inventory like no other. The whole family and the house will be dressed well if you shop here. They have the regular brands you'd expect (Ralph Lauren, Boss, Free People, DKNY, and others you'll want to know). Complimentary gift wrapping, in-store pianist, and excellent sales staff, make coming here a pleasure. In the past I have always received excellent service from Von Maur, I even signed up for their card as there is no interest and it breaks up the payments for me. My husband and I have made several purchases through the couple of years Von Maur has been in Alpharetta and have always been amazed at their service no matter if I was coming from work in my suit or on a day off and in jeans and a t-shirt. Yesterday my husband and I started in the lingerie department as I needed a new bra, the associate who helped me was wonderful. I just told her my size ( I have been having trouble with other stores not carrying my size) and the color I needed and she immediately found 5 items for me to try on and brought more while I was in the changing room. She really listened to what I was looking for and stayed within those options. After this purchase we went downstairs to look at diamond studs as we are planning on purchasing a pair within the next couple of months. I admit I have worked in the jewelry business before so I know what I am looking for. The associate who came over was NOT helpful at all. I told her I was looking for half carat total weight diamond studs. She pulled out the studs and had to look up the sizes on her register as she said they were not all tagged. She then gave me a pair to look at and encouraged me to try them on. I looked at them and there was ear wax from another customer trying them on still on the studs (EWWW). When I pointed this out to her and asked her to clean them she literally just laughed. She then again encouraged me to try them on. I then asked what the clarity and color is and she told me 3050W. That is NOT a clarity and color. I then asked again what the clarity and color was and she stated "very high", again no specifics. My husband then asked me if I wanted a loupe to look at them and she again laughed. I didn't ask as I wasn't sure at this point if she would of even known what I was asking for. I handed them back to her stating that they were not quite what I was looking for and she just put them away and walked away from us. I am not sure if there was a language barrier (her first language was not English), if she needed more training or if she for some reason didn't want to take us seriously (even though at that point I already had another Von Maur bag from upstairs) I give 5 stars for all the service in the past including the associate upstairs and a big fat 0 to the lady in the jewelry department read more
