You can't go wrong with Tia Otto and her company. Her German Shepherds are first class. I did quite a bit of research before deciding to go with her. She was also recommended to me by a breeder I trusted. Let me say first that besides the excellent quality of her Shepherds, she is a very good business woman. I called and contacted other breeders and received calls or emails two days later. Tia, though she was busy at a dog show, emailed me immediately and answered all my questions about the dog I wanted. She emailed me pictures of the dog and directed me to her guarantee information. She talked to me on the phone. I was nervous about it, still, though I had some recommendations and had done research. I noticed in doing my research on her that she received glowing reviews from other customers and that her Shepherds placed in the dog shows. When we showed up to get our puppy, I was pleased that the Shepherd seemed all we thought he would be. Since then, he has exceeded our expectations. In the five days since we've had him, he's learned to use a doggy door, he knows how to climb stairs, he's nearly potty trained and he is learning to walk well on a leash. He is very intelligent, loves being the center of attention, but can be quiet and confident. He doesn't bark much because he isn't afraid of much. But he is fascinated with his new environment. This morning he decided to help my husband with a repair by carrying a pair of needle nose pliers! He's funny and like all puppies, enjoys playing. We received our pup from Dan and Tia in January 2013, and I'm sure I speak for Tia when I say I had waaay too many questions and was in contact with her constantly - but she didn't care...Tia always answered my questions and I always knew what was going on with the pups and the litter. The communication between us made it so much more enjoyable throughout the first 8 weeks because I felt like I was there helping raise the puppies. Dan and Tia always finds opportunities for you to come visit the kennel, the puppies, and the parents. This is CRUCIAL to determine the personality of the dog, so you have no question once you do select your puppy. Our quickly growing male, Apollo von der Otto, is so much fun. One of the most intelligent dogs I know. He is now 11 weeks old and knows sit, down, shake, and currently working on stay. For those of you who may be purchasing a pup from out of town and having him/her shipped to you, you may only be able to visit the kennel once, if at all. We did not get what we paid for. Paid $7,500 for an "elite" German shepherd from this breeder, and at his 2 year birthday, the OFA hip x rays reports came back with Moderate hip dysplasia. Pleaded with the owners for full or partial monetary restitution, and their reply was, that the contract says that they will replace him with a new puppy (breeder standard). After we declined a dog replacement, they elected not to restitute any of our hard earn $, which by contract, they are under no obligation to do. We are left now with a dog that is undesirable by the GSD breed standard, can not be bred, and we will not finish registering. The fact that we did not get what we paid for, is a feeling that we don't wish on anyone, not even to the owners of this business. As breeders, they had a choice to make things right, but they elected not to. Maxx Von der Otto We had the pleasure of meeting Tia and Dan and their wonderful pack back in 2011 when we purchased our Female, Ruby. She was pick of the Litter from 2 Pink Paper imports!
