The initial consultation took almost three weeks to transpire, mainly due to our primary residence being in another state. But they were more than accommodating to our hectic schedule, which even included their salesman being willing to meet with my husband at 6:00 in the morning! The options they brought to the table were endless and rather inspiring. After a handful of choices, we decided on all new Pella windows, Hardie and steel siding, stone accents and some really good looking raingutter. They even ended up blowing in new insulation in a number of exterior walls. All the installers were amazing to work with and it was very comforting to know we could trust them with access to our home while we were away. We did experience some material delays during the process, but we regularly face supply issues in our own business and realize this was not a reflection of their company but rather the current state of our economy. The transformation took just over six weeks to complete. Because we could only revisit the project twice during construction, they would regularly send pictures and videos of their progress. Their attention to detail and concern for our home was so very much appreciated. I had 2 layers of shingles on the front and 3 on the back so I needed them taken off down to the…read moresheeting. I also have a detached double garage where they did the same work. The home is small so the large vents on each end of the gable were used for ventilation. I also had them take the evaporative cooler off the roof, remove the duck work in the attic and install an electric roof vent where the cooler had been. I came home to find they had cut 7 roof vents into the attic. There were no vents before as they were not needed. With the gable vents and the new attic vent, it was overkill. The project was done in May and the first snow of the season in November, I called them because I was getting ceiling damage in a bedroom right under one of the roof vents. I have plaster ceiling and walls and the leak was doing a lot of damage. The first thing he said was I was trying to blame previous damage on them. I was in shock. I said no, I don't want you in my house, I will fix the ceiling but it is getting bad so please come and fix the leak. Two days later I called again and he claimed they had come out. I said no way, there is a lot of snow and there is no sign anyone has been here. Then the guy asked how did I expect them to fix it in the snow and hung up on me. In the spring, I had a roofer come and take out all the vents and fix the sheeting, and put new shingles to fix the job. He also said the ridge shingles were not the kind used for the ridge and they were coming apart. They had used regular shingles and just folded them over. When he took the vents out, he told me they looked like they were old/used and were not up to code. He said several had been leaking and they were probably leaking because the flashing on the vents did not slide under the shingles very far like the newer ones do by several inches. So bottom line, they put used vents (that were not needed) on my new roof that were not to code, did not fix the leaks they caused and did not install the ridge cap properly. A year later a new problem came up. The electric roof vent they installed was making noise, so I had someone come to replace it. He said he was surprised it had not fallen into my attic. They had cut a hole in the underlayment felt and had not secured the vent to the trusses! It was just floating there on the underlayment with the shingles just tucked up under it! The contractor installed the new one properly. Stay away from these guys!!! I have warned people over the years not to call them. The guy I had talked to was the project manager that used to do the TV commercials. He was rude and condescending talking down to me like I was an idiot. All these repairs cost me dearly but they would do nothing to honor their warranty.

From initial contact to the end result, every step in the process was not just completed, it was completed with efficiency and premium professionalism: I cannot say enough good about this company and its work ethic. 1) Bidding: Grant initially came out and was on time, spending as much time as needed to patiently answer questions, no pressure. The two bids he sent were reasonably priced and based on two different shingles I'd chosen. Jare sent past installation addresses so I could see how each of the shingle options would look installed, very helpful. Juli came out twice with samples (she has a good eye), and Grant even laddered up so that we could be sure of color choice. 2) Pre-work: The week before replacement started, Juli, Jare, and Grant all answered questions and concerns I had, promptly. When confirming the city permit was in place, Jare was ahead of me, had already ordered it and sent a copy. The day before work started Heber came by, introduced himself, and chatted with me about project requirements. 3) Replacement: My home is one level and they had it done in 2.5 days, including a snag. Jorge and his crew worked a long day the first day and they worked hard, every day. When Jorge brought roof decking needing replacement to my attention on day one, I feared an extended project. Nope. Jorge had already given Grant a heads-up so Grant was already pricing the extra wood and with my permission had it ordered for pickup. Heber delivered the extra decking around lunch time that same day and the crew had no project down time. Wow, Whitaker Roofing's people work together like a well oiled machine. 4) Quality Assurance: Throughout tear-down and installation Jorge addressed all of my concerns (due to the defective roof I had). Heber made sure the completed roof installation was correct, up to specification, and up to building code by doing his own inspection. The minor things found were corrected the same day. After I later had a new cooler installed on the roof Heber even came out and checked the sealant to ensure no leaking. Juli was always super prompt in answering my follow up questions too. For anyone reading this, this is what a roofing company that cares about customers looks like. 5) Warranty: I went with CertainTeed Landmark Pro shingles so the manufacturer's product warranty is a good one. Above that, Whitaker Roofing included their own workmanship warranty that is the best I came across in gathering roofing company bids. And I had over a dozen roof bids. That they are a local family-run company is also a plus. 6) End Result: The new roof looks great! Neighbors have complimented on it and also said they too would hire Whitaker Roofing after seeing how efficiently they work and how attractive the new roof is. I would *highly* recommend Whitaker Roofing Services and their entire team!
