I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Natay Construction and their "process". We need…read morea full renovation of our primary bathroom. I was nervous that Natay was the only contractor that asked me for money upfront in an hourly rate to create a plan and get bids for the bathroom. They gave me an initial estimate and then months and months later I finally get the "real" estimate for the bathroom which was almost 2X the initial estimate! The plan, materials, and layout had not changed at all.* We did not run into any hurdles that would have made the cost increase.  Process Made Me Feel Trapped: By the time I had gotten the proposal, the "hourly" hours billed was nearly double what I had agreed to and when I saw all of these bloated prices from subs, I was too nervous to wrack up more billable hours to have Eric go back and get better prices. I think this is the goal of their "process" - to make you feel like you are so far down the rabbit hole when you see this crazy number that you just give in.  No "Connections" with Subs: Now that I am getting my own quotes on the pieces of this project, all of the subs that Eric wanted to use were easily double the cost (not including the contractor fees) of the prices I am getting on my own (as a woman who knows nothing about construction). I thought the purpose of a contractor is that they know the right people to work with and know a reasonable price...  Extremely Slow: Getting answers from Eric was extremely slow. We started in February and I was originally supposed to have the whole project complete by early June. I didn't even get the 2X proposal until end of May. There were 6.5 weeks where I heard nothing back and had to reach out to Eric for an update multiple times. There was another time that I asked for one minor change and didn't hear back for 2 weeks. I was so hopeful that I found a trustworthy contractor to help with our house projects, but my experience with Natay was just a waste of time and money. After raising these concerns, I asked for a refund of my upfront money. Eric stopped responding and someone else from the team said no.  * This is TMI, but the upfront billable hours did increase due to looking into projects beyond the initial bathroom. Eric kept encouraging me that I would "save money" by doing all these other house projects at one time. The bill for all those things was like 4X the original price. I then asked for him to take everything out and see just the bathroom so I could compare apples to apples (just the bathroom was almost a full 2X more than the initial quote for just the bathroom).

At the end of the project, the most important question is, would I work with this person again? The answer is a resounding yes. I'm already planning more projects with Alex for the spring. I'm no stranger to remodeling. Precious contractors have had sky high prices with truly mediocre results that left me wishing I'd just done the work myself. Alex and his crew have done outstanding work at reasonable prices, while being very receptive to my feedback and high expectations. Selfishly, I don't even want to post this review because I'd rather keep this awesome unicorn contractor for myself but since Alex has done so much for me, I gotta at least return the favor.

This also included having our kitchen, dining room, living room, front entry way, and hallway sanded, re-stained and polyurethaned to all match. Remodel Express hired a subcontractor, ******, who had two installers come and do our floors. It was expressly discussed with ****** and ******** that we had custom floors and our number 1 concern was to keep the character of the floors and avoid sanding too much off making the floor look like a gymnasium floor. ****** inspected and said that they would just sand down about 1/16th of an inch, just enough to remove the old finish but keep the hand scraped appearance around the edges. His guys came and promptly sanded our floors past the 1/16" th which the guy stated that he sanded them way down because our floor was not level, but it was flat and level now! He did not ask in advance I explained that we had agreed to only sand 1/16th of an inch but that he went too far and sanded out all the hand scraped edges and character of the boards leaving a tightly fitted floor which we did not want. He then told us that he could fix it with a special rotary tool (skill saw) but would have to bring it the following day. He stained the floor and then used his "rotary tool" and ran random, sloppy wide 1/4" gaps randomly all over our floor leaving crooked, splintered, burned and separated areas that looked horrible. He did not even transition the doorways and instead just rubbed stain across without even blending. He commented that his nephew was drunk on the last day and did not show up to help and he was in a hurry for another job and left without notifying us. We complained and the companies both came out and agreed that our floor was poorly done and they would collaborate and get back to us. It has been 4 weeks and they have not returned my calls or texts.

The office manager referred us to their partner, Ray.He will tell you we do it once and we do it right that is a big Lie. After 2 months and$9K, I have a shower I can't use that has a chipped base, not sealed with bathroom walls that Ray asked me to do myself! Damaged drywall I had to paint. The caulk between the shower walls is cracked and covers with quarter round porcelain! On top of that, Ray was rude and disrespectful. I gave the manager a courtesy call before placing this review last week, and she did not get back to me as she promised. Google has two reviews 5 stars seem from two family members. You have to search hard to find reviews for Remodel Express, which is the same company as Flamingo Flooring according to the manager. These reviews were on a website that you can't place a review on. Make sure to stay away from them and hire a company that values their customers, stands behind their work, and is registered in the BBB.

Communication was clear, timelines were respected, and the crew kept the job site organized. I had him add a door to a front room that I wanted to turn into an office. The opening was already there, so all he had to do was fit a door into the space. He quoted me around $2,000 and then ordered the wrong size of door to cut costs. He then had to order the right door and charged me for both doors! I also had him do a bit of electrical work and he left huge holes in my walls. He told me he could do "anything" and yet couldn't effectively do two small jobs. My mom had him do a large project for her. He never gave my mom a bid (which I guess doesn't matter since he shafted me and I had a bid.) true things she dealt with with him, there's not enough room for me to address here. My mom is older and he took her for so much. When the project was near completion, (which took twice the time as agreed upon) she had subcontractors not completing their work because Dusty hadn't paid them! She hired another contractor to complete Dusty's work. I told my mom to sue him, but she didn't get anything in writing (her biggest mistake) and she's too old to go to court. After looking at our 11'x11' kitchen, they were amicable…read moreand persuasive about the quality of their work and how long it would take them, especially given the pandemic. We hired them to remodel our small kitchen and replace the living room carpet with wood flooring to match our existing wood floor. They gave us their 5-week schedule for our project up front. The actual time they took was 5.5 months. Communication throughout the project, between their project manager and everyone (workers and client) was very poor and at times abusive. The flooring subcontractor appeared on site unscheduled and without preparing us. We were advised people and pets had to vacate the premises immediately for at least four days. To add insult to injury, after jumping thru hoops to find somewhere to stay, upon our return, the new floor did not even match the old and would have to be redone, forcing us to vacate yet again. The subs who installed the appliances had never installed appliances before. We were told that once water to the kitchen was turned back on, we could start using the dishwasher. After we ran the dishwasher, we uncovered massive water damage. Blackdog discovered they had connected only one of two dishwasher hoses. The dishwasher had drained water directly onto the kitchen floor, which was covered with blankets and cardboard at the time. Rough plumbing was scheduled the first week when the walls were bare, but not done until the BlackDog project manager realized the new sink couldn't drain. They had to cut through three of our brand-new cabinets to access and reconfigure pipes. In the process of moving the new appliances and island around the house, BlackDog damaged the cabinetry and island and the granite top for the island came unglued. Twice, the electrical wiring that fed power to the island was pulled up through a hole in the floor that was cut in the middle of the walkway instead of underneath the island. Twice, it had to be rectified. Although our interaction with the company's owner began pleasantly enough, when the project was almost complete and it came down to money, things got ugly, causing huge amounts of stress for our entire family. It took weeks to resolve and finally get the job completed. All in all, it was a terrible experience for us. On the bright side, there are a few good people who work for or with BlackDog who knew what they were doing and who spared us a worse experience. They know who they are.
