I'm giving them 5 stars with a couple gotcha's. These guys were referred by our insurance estimator…read moreto replace our roof. I've never used a suggested contractor because I always assume there is a benefit I'll never see, but in this case I went with Hanco. Initially I had extensive damage from the Utah Hurricane earlier this year, so when they came out the first thing they did was put up a quick patch to get me to the point of making a decision. I looked at Roof It, and Patriot Roofing who pretty much told me they would uncharge the insurance company for all of the things they missed, while not having seen the insurance quote, and if I did not like it I could do what I wanted. Roof It was a husband and wife team who I assume contracted out the roofing? Their price was high, and while they were nice they did not instill confidence in me. Hanco on the other hand earned our business. They came in under the insurance estimate and were able to put us in front of a few other jobs as soon as an opening came up. I told them the shingle I wanted (Owens Corning Duration Shasta White), and they agreed to it. They did an excellent job, pretty good clean up, although I walked the perimeter with a rolling magnet and got what they did not see. They added vents where I needed them, the finish work was very good, and they were done in a full 7 day week (not bad considering the install was pretty much done with by one guy). The bad. After they were done there was a pallet of probably 20 shingle packs left on a pallet on my side yard. Since we live on a country road and the thieves from SLC, Magna, and West Valley have decided to start driving by and stealing anything not nailed down, or from open garages, I decided to put a tarp over them to make them less appealing. That worked for about three days then the packs started disappearing a couple at a time. After a couple days I told Hanco they better come get them before they are all gone, and they did. Unfortunately while covering up the shingles I noticed that they were the lower quality Oakridge style that does not have the 130 mph wind rating, or the fiber strip for the nails. At this point my roof was done, so I called them to express my slight disappointment (my roof looked awesome). As a compensation they offered me a lifetime service warranty and paid for some of my gutter replacement. I understand where the mix up took place and it was with the vendor, not Hanco. But they had our house on the schedule, and since I was not there to approve the shingles they proceeded with what they had. The shingles I got were about $4 less per bundle, and at just over 10 square our house probably took 40 packs ($160 to the contractor, plus the rebate that OC was offering at the time - I believe only contractors qualify for the rebate?). All in all a very good experience, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the market. A word of advise, if you decide on a shingle brand and style, be there to insure that is what you are getting.

The initial contact we had with Northern Exteriors was not great. The initial man they sent was not a good people person. We decided to go with Northern Exteriors despite of him. Of the options we had we felt best about this decision. That is when Roberto came to the rescue. He apologized for the original front man and immediately began to take care of us. They sent a crew out to work on our roof that just so happen to be there at the same time that our original roofing guy showed up to defend his work. They were gracious enough to send the crew away and they came back the following week to get the job done. They identified her problems and fixed them quickly. Nothing but great things to say about Roberto and Northern Exteriors.

I will let pictures of their work speak for itself…read more If i could give zero stars I would. These are my actual experiences and are reflective of my personal opinion. For the experiences of others, I will let you refer to the appropriate review platforms (ksl, Yelp, BBB, etc.) We selected this Northern Exteriors (AKA Northern Gutters) based on their presentation of materials that they offered and their 5-star Google review that was highlighted during the initial meeting accompanied by the 5-star Google review prominently displayed on the advertising where I found their company in a monthly mailer. The first attempt installing the siding that had to be removed after I informed Roberto that it was unacceptable. See photo Second attempt, I had to ask the crew to stop working because the quality of workmanship was not satisfactory to me. I reached out to foreman, and they agreed that it was not up to their standards. See pictures Roberto told me they were going to bring in a new crew and that I would be happy with them. At some point, during their 3rd attempt at installing the siding, a crew member said that I asked them to change out batten strips. I never requested this change and was sent a change order in the amount of $2500. I declined to sign as I did not request nor agree to these changes and their agreement states; "Prior to any changes of cost, the client will be notified." Due to poor material handling, they had to completely repaint all the factory painted Hardy panels. After their painter had finished, I went out to inspect the work and he had spilled/splashed paint on large portion of our brand-new paver installation. I had to pay someone else over $2k to steam clean and reseal the pavers. The did offer to send "one of their guys" over to fix it but i declined due to how bad the project was going. See pictures On March 1st, Sam did reach out to discuss our disagreement on the change order. I told him I would send him pictures of the damage to our property and building caused by his crews, and we could discuss after he reviewed them. I sent him the email with the pictures of the issues, and he responded they he had received them on 3/8/2024. I have reached back out on 4/20/2024 and 5/6/2024 with no response. See the pictures of the quality of workmanship that I sent to Sam as well as damage to existing materials (drip edges and roofing materials installed by someone else) caused by their crew during the siding and soffit installation. See pictures Fast forward to today, this is what the install looks like. It has gotten so bad that I will most likely be replacing all the chamclad material they installed. See pictures On September 17, 2024, the siding manufacturer, Chamclad responded to my email and stated the following Northern Exteriors work: (see picture of email) The most disgusting and dishonest part of dealing with the owners of this company, is the fact that I emailed Kelcee on 1/11/2024 that I was sending via certified mail, the final payment due on the original contract in the amount of $8,611.43. Knowing this, Kelcee STILL filed a lien on our property on 1/12/2024 in the amount of $11,111.43, which was the amount due plus the $2500 change order in dispute. As of 3/25/2026, the FULL LIEN IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,111.43 is still recorded on our property and the check for $8,611.43 was cashed on 1/25/2024!!!!! Lastly: In addition to the grossly inaccurate amount on the lien which is still in place at the time of this review 3/25/2026 A YEAR LATER, in a letter from their lawyer dated 1/16/2024, Northern threatened to initiate foreclosure proceedings on our house unless we pay the disputed amount. Choose your contractor wisely. In further effort to contribute to a fair and well-informed marketplace based on my actual consumer experience and because this is an issue of public concern, this review will be amended as additional and true information becomes available.
