One would expect to find a gallery of this quality in San Francisco, Napa, or Half Moon Bay. One would expect prices to be two to three times what you'll find here. Everything about this gallery is magical. I could quite happily spend many hours getting lost in each masterpiece of this dreamy, sophisticated little gallery. I've attached just a smidgen of what's available, based on my own purchasing possibilities. Amongst, the "A grade" variety of art to be discovered, the futuristic alien themes featured by one of the owners are "out of this world" spectacular! This is such an awesome gallery. They had several artists on display and each one was great. Unique, interesting, conversation-sparking, and easy on the eyes. They had small prints as well if you couldn't splurge on the larger works. Definitely stood out among the businesses we visited that day. read more

We were walking around Downtown Placerville when we say this cute art store. The art is absolutely magnificent! The owners were extremely helpful and kind. The art is very well organized and there are many different styles of art there. The art comes in many different sizes and is very reasonably priced. There is the owners' art as well as many other artists work. I would definitely go there again! read more

My 2 sisters and I are from "out of town" and finding this gallery was a special treat. We spent a couple hours here savoring the lovely works created by several artists. I really like 3 pieces and Zack made sure the frames were a perfect match. He even custom-printed a couple of prints to the size I needed. The pieces look great in a newly painted and furnished room. I love them! The boxes of note cards are beautiful and make lovely gifts. I also purchased "art magnets"... little gifts for a couple of friends that I like to remember when I travel. I am so pleased to have found this gallery. Downtown Placerville is home to quite a few galleries, but the majority of them are not very impressive or simply not to my taste. The bold, fluid lines and saturated colors of Rebecca Roehr's nature based art (OK, and the extremely reasonable print prices) drew me into Volution Gallery. The gallery houses the artwork of two very different artists. Rebecca's work looks a bit like a cross between stained glass and woodcuts, and I loved her California series (state bird, state tree, state grass, state flower, etc.) on the spot. Her husband Zack Pangborn does completely different work: surreal, fantastically detailed ink dreamscapes. They could hardly be more different, but the gallery works as a whole somehow. Zack was manning the shop and was very friendly, approachable, and easy going. Definitely more grounded than I would have guessed from his art! It makes me really happy that these two people can earn a living from their art. They were having a buy one, get one half off sale, so we bought a couple sets of Rebecca's cards for fellow biologist friends, a small print of hers for my office area, and one of Zack's silver-on-black abstract designs. I have no idea when I'll be back in Placerville, if ever, but I'd love to see what they come up with in the meantime. read more

We came to Placerville to eat and stumbled into this beautiful gallery. The owner was very helpful and although we had no intention of increasing our art collection we walked out with 4 pieces! I will make it a point to come back and see what's new any time we come to Placerville or are driving through. read more

We made off like bandits here. We can't really stomach the mass-produced crap they sell in stores, but we can never afford the art we actually like. Enter volution gallery. They have beautiful, interesting prints, and I genuinely don't know how they're even breaking even at these prices. I swear it must cost more than the sale price just to print the things. Volution is one of the galleries on Main St Placerville where you will most likely meet the artist whenever you drop in. The compelling style of Zack Pangborn is fastidiously detailed pen and ink. A must see to appreciate the depth and breadth of this emergent artist. read more
