The works range from jewelry, glass, wood work, ceramics, photography, sculpture, and paintings. Surprisingly the original art work was not outlandishly priced. Plus they have small originals, prints in smaller frame sizes to postcard size that are more affordable priced. My favorite works were Jack Nissen's wood bowls and painters Carol Quinn, Barbie Smith, and Valerie Bye. To me, their art echoes the beauty of our local landscape. I easily connected with that. I bopped in when Michael and Natalie were staffing the shop. Micheal had a bright, enthusiastic attitude. He warmly greeted everyone that walked. He had a great rapport with customers. No snobby pretentiousness. Besides the art another work in the building. The building itself is a beaut. It too has a rich history going back to 1850. You can read about it on a poster near the front door.

It's for seasoned & emerging artists of all types You'll have access to many benefits, see the website for details. And you get 60% Commission rate on art sales. We came here for the Opening Reception July 18, 2026 from 5-7pm to see our favorite Artist Mary Pippitt who did Wintry City Scape; 16x16; using Encaustic selling for $300. What an opening. There were 150 different artists showing their work. Not all the artists were present, if they were they would have been over capacity. The gallery was filled with so much beautiful and moving artwork and bustling with artists and patrons. I love the variety: Encaustic, Cold Wax, Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, mixed media, fabric, metal, ceramic, glass, wood, ect. I love seeing so many varieties of art in one place. Maybe I'll join one day at the FAMILY $120/year as it comes with NARM, where you can visit 900+ Musuem and gallery's for no additional fee. We currently belong to my favorite museum and receive the NARM benefits which allows us to go to all the Sacramento Museums plus all the ones in North America. It's a great deal, you save so much money and are motivated to expand your horizon. I love going to galleries and museums so this was definitely up my alley and in my comfort zone. It was nice to attend with friends and be able to go out to dinner afterwards and discuss all that we saw.

My first introduction to Thomas Kinkade's artwork was about 25 years ago through a friend of mine…read more She adored his art and collected his prints. At that time, Thomas Kinkade's art was super popular so much so he franchised out art galleries. Critics said his art was kitsch. My friend called it art. I was on the fence back then. But I have since broaden my horizons to appreciate his artwork. He is known as the famed "Painter of Light". The late Thomas Kinkade was born in Placerville, CA, in 1958 and graduated from the local high school. He passed away in 2012. The art gallery is on Main Street in Placerville. I popped on in a few weeks back. It was filled with a few oil originals and a lot of Thomas Kinkade studio artists works and prints. The studio art continues Kinkade's painting technique and style. Besides the typical Kinkade genres of cottages, bridges, Main Streets, mountains, forests; they carry artwork incorporating Disney images (Disney princesses, Star Wars). My favorite pieces were the classic Kinkade's of Main Street Placerville and California natures scenes such as the images of Yosemite. The person working was welcoming and even though he was busy, he made it a point to sincerely greet everyone.

YNOT Art Studio is the latest and greatest art gallery on Sutter Street…read more Intrigued by the business sign, which looks like a paint palette with the word "YNOT" on it, my daughter and I strolled in shortly after the gallery opened, which was in 2020. We barely even had time to look around before we were greeted by Tony, who introduced himself, and explained that "YNOT" was his name spelled backwards. We quickly got to chatting, and he explained that he didn't even start painting until his 70s, which was really only just a few years ago. This was hard to believe, because the art was so stunning, detailed, and imaginative. It looked like the work of someone who had been painting religiously for decades. He explained the stories behind a few of his paintings, and showed us one that he had painted for Alex Honnold. "Do you know who Alex Honnold is?" He asked. "I do, actually," I said. "No," said my daughter. And so Tony explained who Alex Honnold is. I added that I had seen him a few years ago, when I was on my way up to Half Dome. Apparently, Tony was so inspired by Alex that he decided to create a painting of Half Dome to give to him. He explained that he would be sending the artwork to Alex's mother soon. I didn't take a picture of it, but it was fantastic. Prices are relatively affordable, with many pieces under $200. For anyone out there looking for a last minute Mother's Day gift, here is another idea from me. You're welcome. While the shop is small, it is packed with artwork. The store is located in the back of the business alley behind Candle Bar and American Barber Shop. A large selection of Tony's artwork is available to view on his website at https://ynotartstudio.com/gallery/
