When checking out their currency exchange rates page information, comparing rates with a well-known facility we know in downtown Vancouver, and finding their "buy rates" as competitive, we decided to head there and exchange some Mexican pesos back to Canadian dollars. The facility itself is a small, one 'wicket' operation, located up one flight of stairs from ground level. Service was courteous and friendly. We exchanged (a sizeable amount of) Mexican pesos (saved from previous stays in Puerto Vallarta) back to Canadian dollars, and were very pleased with the exchange rate received. A small side note: we have found parking can often be a bit of a challenge in that location (Lincoln Centre), but at this time (near the 10am opening of the currency exchange) on a Saturday, we lucked out, and got the last space available right in front of the facility, making everything go rather smooth and easy.

You get interest, that's right, interest, on checking account balances as well as savings of course. And they offer amazing short term DIY savings with great interest rates (6 months or longer) Appointments can be made few hours before showing up, bank card issued on the spot, and they even help you through the entire app set up to ensure you can get started using it right away. Oh. And no fees at any other major banks atm as long as it has the exchange logo. So you can deposit and withdraw almost anywhere on every street or two. Fees... keep $5k and no fees or just $20/month but I gotta say it's not bad for this much flexibility. And don't forget you can get cheaper accounts if you need less transactions. **** anyone can open an account, you don't have to be Korean. It's mostly for people who are newcomers to Canada or yes, foreigners that have banks overseas that makes it easier to access those funds.... However anyone can open an account. And they are really polite. My first experience here I wasn't even their customer yet I just needed to swap some smaller bills for a $100.... And they did it no fuss no problems. My family & myself has…read morebeen using Scotia Bank for years and years... and despite their crappy attitudes, long lines and ridiculously short hours, I've stayed faithful to them until 2 things happened. 1. They start you off with minor/student accounts when you are a minor, but automatically move you to a savings account and charge you ~$8 per month for fees, without telling you. I was coughing up those fees every month without my knowledge 2. I was out of country for a while (more than 1 year) and didn't use my Scotia Bank account during that time - apparently, they kept collecting the monthly fees until my balance ran to 0. When I returned, I went to this branch (where I got my original account too), the person who was working told me "Your account is closed because your balance is 0" and then she took the card, and cut it up in front of me with a scissor. That's just rude. She looked at me like I'm piece of dirt and then moved onto the next customer. I switched to TD that very day, and have been a happy TD customer ever since. Any time people move into the area and ask me for advice on what bank to go for, I always point them in the direction of TD. Scotia Bank may have the most ATMs around, but they surely aren't going to win any awards in customer satisfaction. Guess what? TD (at least the branches I've been to) have friendly staff, and hours that I can work with I gave you 2 stars, instead of 1 just because of your location... and that's the only reason that you get 2 stars
