The plug to my dryer wasn't working so I called Mike. He was able to come out the same day and let me know his ETA, and was prompt. The problem ended up being some issues with fuses in the breaker box. He replaced the fuses for me along with some other things in the house like installing a new electric outlet that had detached from the beam. I called Voltrex and spoke to Mike about hardwiring my ring doorbell since my house never had one and I was tired of charging the battery. He did a great job and was very professional. His price was very fair and he came when he said he would. Since he did such a great job I called him back the following week to upgrade my electrical panel that still used glass fuses. Panic had set in. No hot water, stove,oven,microwave,dryer......an all appliance work stoppage. After pulling apart my breaker box, the PGE field tech informed me that this was my problem.....I located Voltrex, saw that galaxy of yelp stars, and placed a call. I got a prompt callback, and set up an appointment with Mike. Meanwhile, I did research on Google....."how much to rehab a breaker box?"....I came to several hours later when Mike arrived. I needed my kitchen light fixture replaced that was a fluorescent type that required 4 tubes. It would intermittently not turn on. Michael diagnosed it as the ballast on it ways out and we decided to replace the unit with an LED Fixture. All this was on a Saturday afternoon... I had an issue with my GFCI outside outlet (or so I thought) because it was tripping even after I reset it. It would work for a few minutes and then... click off. So... I asked Mike to replace the outlet it with a new Leviton weather resistant (WR) outlet. He replaced it in a few minutes (he removed the bubble cover, crimped all the wires, tested it, it worked... for a few minutes and it tripped again. To me - that didn't make sense why it tripped with a new outlet - however, Mike was very methodical in his approach to diagnosing the issue. For me personally - I think the best thing was... he precisely explained to me exactly how he was going to solve the issue in an easy to understand way. I learned a lot while he was testing. After going step by step (and explaining what he was doing while he was doing it) - he figured out the issue (a hidden plug that was exposed to the outside... was wet because of the rain - I thought I had weatherproofed it, but I didn't) - In the end - the issue was not the outlet, but the new proper weather resistant outlet was replaced anyway. The original outlet was not WR rated as it should have been. Anyway, I really learned how to properly diagnosis this type of situation in the future - that was priceless. The cost was in-line with other electricians, but it was Mike going through the process with me that was enlightening. Mike is professional, listens well, easy to work with and communicates clearly. He cleaned up after himself (didn't even need to ask) And.. he called me 1 hour before he arrived and then again 5 minutes before. I will certainly most use Mike again and would highly recommend. read more
