Sight, sound, taste, smell, everything is synchronized like a song the minute you walk in. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable, and they tried their best to speak English so we could understand. We sat out by the Rhine river before we were seated. It was very calming. Then we were bought to the dining room where they only have one seating per night. We had a 12 course tasting menu and my husband had the wine pairing as well. I will let the picture speak for themselves. Food was the best I've ever had and I love the combination of spices and textures used. Every bite is a burst of flavor, but not too overwhelming. If you only have one chance to taste a 3 star Michelin restaurant - this is it!!! Don't bother going anywhere else because you will be disappointed. The final Bill came to 748 euros.

The decor is…read moresumptuous, and every part of the meal is choreographed, and the dinner is an experience to remember. The menu changes with the season, and the wine list is HUGE! We asked for guidance from the sommelier, but it was very disappointing to not have a curated wine menu for the full dining experience. Wine is an essential part of dine dining, and the restaurant misses the mark by not filling the good. We had the best oyster of our lives, and one of the amuse bouche dishes was repeated (I was not sad about this). Bread is offered liberally -- take it! That will be the most filling part of your meal. Note the frequent refills of water at $11/bottle. All of the dishes were sensational and complex, and if you are a seeker of Michelin star restaurants, then this is a do not miss based on many factors, including the hotel being a place where Napoleon visited. Just know that you will not be gorging yourself on this meal.

I absolutely loved the dessert trolley. There is an excellent wine list. The service is impeccable. It is pricey but worthwhile to visit while in Basel.

I feel that it is totally worth it especially if you're a tourist and really want to soak in some of the best sites of the city. The restaurant has a very romantic vibe so it would be great for a date, dinner with friends or family, or something more social versus a business location. Our server was extremely polite and all around there was top-notch five star service. Everything that we ordered came out pretty fast and to say that they were very attentive would be an understatement. I started off my meal with a really nice glass of Bordeaux and it really got my hunger going for what was ahead. For my starter I chose the Saumon Marine which is basically a Salmon Crudo and I thought it was great. It was light and refreshing and woke up my taste buds for my entrée, which was the Sole Meunière. I've had this dish many times in my life at many different locations and this was one of the better ones I've had in a long time. It was made perfectly and the flavors lasted throughout the rest of the night. I would highly recommend ordering it and I also would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was one of our more memorable moments of our time in Basel.

On the other hand, kitchen seems very slow in preparation of food as it takes about 2 hours for you to complete the course meal and there was about 10-15 min wait after you finish each course. As most course items are not in big portion, it won't take very long to finish it. Bread is very good. You should go for the course menu as it is a better deal than getting individual dish. All complimentary including Amuse Buche, Bread, desserts are fantastic. Only complains are the price of wine and water. Same wine I had at a restaurant just a few blocks down the street was half the price compared to this place. If I had known, I would have just ordered a bottle of known wine. Because of slowness of getting food and price of wine, I'm not sure if I would come back anytime soon... but you can try once to see how you like it.

You are only limited by your imagination and wallet. Attention to details big and small from the kitchen is evident from the several amuse bouche offerings to the foams and creams on entrees. Who knew an asparagus salad could be such a joy? Perfectly prepared white and green spears along with a leaf salad accompanied by a side of iberico ham! Char tartar was simply amazing topped with a lemon foam and dabs of avocado cream. Turbot was well prepared but a tad on the salty side. The chef leans to the savory side so it seemed aligned with his tastes. Passed on dessert but forced down an aged cognac and chocolate truffle just because. Will be back next time as usual to check out next saison's menu.
