Love me some Mexican food. Especially ones that look like families own them. Not sure if they do on this one but it was nice to see waitresses know their regulars and hold conversations with them. Now on to the food. It was great. Came out quick and hot and good tasted great. Dwindling would come back again.

An authentic Mexican staple in Norman. Always friendly service and incredible food. It's a relatively small space so it can fill up quickly.

Beyond expectations!!!! We wanted a fresh and tasty lunch and this place delivered. Our service was excellent and the food was fresh and delicious. The shrimp tostadas were incredible and the street tacos was tasty and very affordable. We will be back!!!!!!

I'm really torn on this review. The service was fine. Order at the counter and it's quickly delivered to your table. You have to get your own salsa. The booths are all really worn and taped together. The food is actually pretty darn good. Tamales are excellent. Biggest down side? Flies! Lots and lots of flies

Yum yum yum. This place is so good. The service was very friendly and quick. The quesabirria tacos were to die for. Side of rice is very yummy. Delicious margarita. Will definitely be coming back to try more on the menu.

We rarely have reason to go to Norman so tried this one. Mexican food tastes the same everywhere imho. So I was really surprised at both the look and taste of my burrito. To start with the wrapper wasn't a plain flour tortilla. I don't know how to describe what it was made with, but it was decadent. And the chef uses spices...and not just the usual "Mexican spices", I definitely tasted some faint cinnamon. Hubby exclaimed over his carnitas and gave me a taste. Wow!. Even his bowl of beans had extra flavor. While our server did his job promptly it was clear he was distracted and uninterested. My attempt to ask what extra was in the sale fell flat. The alcohol drinks menu looked really inviting but it was 65 miles back home so I stuck with iced tea which wasn't very good. However I'd would definitely eat there again and hope we'd get the other server who was friendly and chatty with his customers.

If you're looking for Free chips, queso, salsa, tortillas... Nope. Not here. It's not that kind of establishment. Of course you can get all those things for a price. But you will find some pretty tasty food. The fried fajita burrito was delicious and so hot temperature wise that our tongues practically melted off! Good tamales, enchiladas and tacos! Margaritas weren't bad either! My one recommendation for them would be to give a bigger bowl for salsa or at least give one tiny bowl per person because if you order the chips and salsa the bowls are entirely too small to share.

My Wife and I wanted to give a new place a try.......looking at reviews we thought Volcano's would be a good fit. Ehhhh, not so much. While the people were super friendly and the margaritas (according to my wife) were great. The food was not a pleasant experience. We started with queso, which had had to come. From straight from the fridge. It had been microwaved but in the middle of the bowl was a large clump of cold cheese. Moving on the entree, the food had a very unique taste, similar to old grease. It coated your palate and was almost impossible to get past. Unfortunately we won't be back to this restaurant

Delicious authentic tacos! Especially their Al Pastor. Mmmm

Before I get into the "other", I gotta say, they serve the best al pastor tacos in Norman. Some of the best I've had in the entire state. Filled full of tender pork, perfect saucy flavor, added to by a pile of cilantro and onion. And in style unique to this area, in the way they griddle their tortillas extra long, yet still remaining soft and pliable, not making them too oily or crispy like other places do them. The al pastor was so flavorful, it didn't even need additional salsa. I also had the asada..nah, pass on that. So far it's all about the al pastor here. You can even get fish al pastor style. These two tacos were $1.75 each, ranging up to $2.50 depending on the meat. Family-owned and operated. They seemed like friendly enough folks. But soured a little after realizing my entire dinner order was just two tacos. I do wish they took masks and other Covid protections more seriously. The mother has her kids behind the counter, all around food but no one wearing masks. Oh well, at least the cook (dad?) had his mask on. I was happy they had a drive-thru but it wasn't exactly fast or even organized. Service was confused with the woman taking orders, the man both cooking and handing out orders, even when that meant leaving the kitchen to meet customers curbside. She nearly kept my debit card, good thing I remembered to ask for it back even after receiving our food. But I had to sign the receipt with their clipboard and pen, contact-free it isn't. These aren't exactly huge issues, I guess it depends on your perspective. I'd definitely put up with all of that again for their superior al pastor.

My ideal type of Mexican food, nothing fancy but so good! We got the fajitas and it seemed that the corn and flour tortillas were homemade!

Tarahumara's Mexican Cafe & Cantina 05/01/2026…read more (5/5) The food here is absolutely amazing! I ate at Tarahumara's about a week ago with my co-workers, and I was so blown away that I had to bring my wife and girls back for a second visit. The shrimp cocktail was massive--so fresh and flavorful--though the shrimp could be a bit smaller to make them easier to handle. I had Diego's meal, with a substitution of 2 chicken enchiladas with sour cream and one beef enchilada with red sauce. My wife ordered a shrimp dish with garlic butter, and it was a huge plate she thoroughly enjoyed. I also have to mention their relish is incredible, and they start you off with chips and white queso instead of yellow, which is a really nice touch. The sour cream sauce is excellent. This place is a must-visit, and we can't wait to come back again.

They are always so busy they have to move people through so you do feel a little rushed. We had to keep asking for to go boxes or to go cups because he would bring one thing, but not the other things. With that being said, they have done some expanding and some remodeling and it looks really nice inside. We were seated at a booth on the edge of the waiting area and people were standing behind our seat, looking over our table, waiting for us to leave and looking at our food and the booth was not nailed to the ground so they kept pushing my chair up and into the table. They weren't meaning to, but it just kept happening.

It is spicy and if that is not for you then ask them to put queso on it instead. I think the refried beans are very good. I love the jalapeno ranch dressing and if you ask they will bring some out for you to use as a dip. If you are really hungry order the Elvis combo as it is a lot of food. The salsa is not my favorite as I prefer it to be more of a liquid instead of almost like pico. My wife likes the steak quesadilla and gets them almost every time. The service was good and the restaurant clean. The decor is typical Tex Mex restaurant and of course with concrete floors and not much to soak up the sound it will be loud. One of the best Tex Mex and you should give it a try.

Our server was very sweet, but we had to flag her down twice for drink refills. There was never enough chips on the table. And the food was just somewhat OK. We had tacos and the beef was not very good . I had to force myself to eat it because I really didn't want to, but I had paid quite a bit for it so I felt like I needed to go ahead and eat it. The only thing good from our Meals was the chicken. And it was really quite delicious ! But all in all that just wasn't enough to make it a great experience
