First time here and I really liked it. It's a hole-in-the-wall place and I am just fine with that. I ordered the three taco plate and got al pastor, steak and chorizo. It came with rice and beans. Wife got the corn in a cup and it was great along with the fried fajita burrito with chicken and unfortunately the chicken was so spicy she couldn't eat it (only reason not to get 5 stars). Also orders queso and guacamole to go with the chips and they were both good. They have a salsa bar with 4 kinds of salsa too. I will definitely eat back for some street tacos. 4...? 5...? I'm going with 5 stars. It is true, this place looks a little sketchy. Okay, a lot sketchy... But DAMN, the food was good. I mean, really good. My son and I went in and were expecting pretty basic food but we were pleasantly surprised. I had shrimp tacos, he had pastor tacos and both were yummy. Freshly prepared, hot and crispy tortillas and really nicely balanced flavors. We split a "corn in the bowl" which is Mexican street corn with mayo, cheese and chili powder. It was also very good - volcano hot! It's a small place that has seen some wear and tear, but I could see it becoming the next little hidden gem, with a line down the street! Recently moved to the area and was looking for a nice Mexican restaurant to go to. Volcano's is right around the corner from my new place so I gave it a shot. It is amazing. I had the combination #1 plate, the amount of food I received was well worth the $9.50. Usually, beans and rice are something you don't rave about but here they were amazing. Very good mex in Norman. This is a little more authentic than most mex cuisine in the area. I've had the enchiladas and tacos. Both were pretty good. I really recommend the tacos. I had carnitas, chicken, and carne asada...all of it was solid. Volcanos will definitely make the rotation in the Norman lineup. read more

Glad to finally see a menu on yelp . First off I had a horrible day and this place turned it around . That alone should tell you how much I liked the food . Got two taco plates one carnitas and one asada. Both were great but I preferred the carnitas . Also they have great guacamole to go size was larger than excepted since previous review said it was small. One thing I love is that they have elote( corn in the cup) . It is one of my favorite thing and since moving from south OKC I've missed it . The customer was very friendly . The guy was pleasantly surprised the place was on yelp . The food was mediocre. I found it weird that they don't offer iced tea at all. They also didn't have sliced pickled jalapeños. If you want flour tortillas with your fajitas, you have to ask and they are $1.00. You automatically get corn tortillas with the fajitas. The queso Blanco was good. The green sauce is good but it is spicy. I had cheese enchiladas, steak taco, tamale. If I do ever go back, I will have to get something different. I will probably eat at a different Mexican restaurant though. read more

Best authentic street tacos in Norman!! Takes us back to our days in Puerto Vallarta. Tortilla chips and salsa are made fresh in-house and AMAZING! As is the guac. Decided to eat here for the first time with my husband and we were NOT disappointed. The food is absolutely amazing. The service is very good, super friendly, and you get your food within a timely manner. The queso is very creamy and the chips are thicker than normal which is something I never realized I wanted. Staff nice, but food horrible. Several salsas available, but mild had an odd sweetness and hot green was just watery hot, no real flavor. Tortilla chip taste like stale oil. My quesadilla had really salt ground beef but no Mexican spices. I was told it came with rice and beans, but only had rice. Hubbys carne asada had no spice at all, not even salt, bland. We try to support local businesses instead of chains when we travel but this one backfired. Do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant. read more

Even though it has a drive thru window, Volcano's is not a fast food joint. The window is not even operational yet, though they say it will be when they get enough business. The menu is fairly extensive. I had the taco platter (3 tacos, beans and rice), guacamole and Jamaica (Hibiscus) tea. I wanted water, but they only offer bottled water for a fee. The tea however, was very good. I'm assuming there are no free refills, since I had to get ice from the soft drink machine and take it to the counter so the nice lady could fill it with tea. There are no set-ups. No chips and salsa. No queso. It took five to ten minutes for the food to arrive at the table. I had gotten three different meats for the tacos: Azada, pastor, and chorizo. All were excellent and well seasoned, but the chorizo was fairly salty. The fillings are served on two 3-inch tortillas, which were slightly crispy. There is a small bar with four different sauces, and cilantro, onion, lime and (chopped radishes?). There are no containers to put the sauces in, so you have to carry your food to the bar to use them. The guacamole was fresh and excellent, close to the way I make it at home, but I was disappointed to find that it came with a single tortilla chip embedded in the ice cream sized scoop. For nearly four dollars I expect it come with at least a few chips for dipping. If the food hadn't been so good I don't know if I would have gone back, but I do plan to try some more of their menu offerings. Hopefully they will make a few adjustments to improve their service. I would like to see them find success, especially in an area of town that has few sources for Mexican fare. read more

We got take out from Volcano's tonight and absolutely loved it. My husband got the beef tongue chimichanga meal and I got the borracho burrito bowl. We also got the guacamole and the queso with chips. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. My carnitas were moist and flavorful. The queso was admittedly my favorite part - creamy and made with real cheese! They also had a salsa bar with at least 4 different salsa choices made in house. I only wish they had a bar which would make dining in more appealing to me. I hope many people will visit so that they will stay open! read more

I had read the reviews for volcano's for a couple of weeks, and went by the other night but didn't go in. It was a Friday evening and the SkateLand adolescence drop off was in full swing, so opted for elsewhere. So today, I needed to grab a bite before doing "things", and decided to try while being by myself. I'm so glad I did. After some perusal of the giant menu, I settled on the Country Quesadilla with chicken. I also ordered a small fountain drink, and my total was just under $10. As I sat down, the lady who took my order brought me a basket of homemade chips (no salsa or queso, just FYI). They have a small salsa bar beside the drink machine and I got a small cup of "hot" green and "hot" red sauce. They wer warm/spicy but NOT face of the sun hot or anything, but the taste was great. It's (the sauce) definitely not Tex-Mexi or whatever Mexican food in our part of the world has evolved into, but tastes very fresh and was a welcome surprise. Quesadilla comes out shortly and had a mall scoop of pico and sour cream. So between the two sides and the hot verde sauce, I stuffed my face. Rice and beans are not included, but I didn't need them and left full, but not miserable. At this point, I'm giving 5 stars and will up date if needed. I'm excited to have this place on my go to rotation. read more
