In my opinion, still the best pizza in town. i've been a customer for 20 years and never a complaint. You won't be sorry for sure.

I love their different subs they have here. Pizza is good as well, but the subs are my favorite. They are a little pricier.

I stopped by this restaurant on a recent business trip to South Bend. This two star rating is not for the food (which was fine), it is for unfriendly service that I received. May be since they sensed I was from out of town they were not welcoming. I felt an uncomfortable vibe that I don't usually feel when visiting a Retaurant. An older waitress never checked back after the initial order. All in all if you are not a local guest I guess don't experience great service. read more

I went there for the first time last night around 6pm. Ordered a large pepperoni and sausage. It was delicious! On my way to our table I passed some people being served this big plate of lasagna covered in cheese. I need to try that now! Service was fast and friendly and the dining room was clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more

Stopped on our way up from Florida, hidden gem! Worth the stop! Spaghetti and meatballs delicious! Sauce was so good and that is coming from an Italian. Just the right amount of spice, perfecto! Service was great, 15 minutes served a salad and dinner. Don't miss out, ya gotta go! My husband said don't forget how good the meatballs were.....ate 3!!! So good! read more

Don't order a salad with your dinner if you only want lettuce and a couple of chunks of tomato, very tasteless and boring. I had the chicken Alfredo, it was OK if you like your Alfredo sauce not homemade, it taste like it came from a can. My husband ordered their Wednesday special, spaghetti and meatball and it was very delicious. We may try again and order the pizza. read more

I don't know how this place is so highly rated. It's a dive and it's dirty. The table we sat at was next to the window and the blinds were caked with dust and tiny dead gnats were around the window ledge. I can't imagine what the kitchen is like if they don't even clean the blinds. I had a grilled chicken salad and the lettuce looked like it was more than a week old. We also split the cheesy garlic bread. It was pretty typical- lots of cheese melted onto garlic bread with a tasteless marinara sauce. Maybe I should have gotten a pizza instead since that is what they're known for, but they should be able to serve decent food other than pizza if it's going to be on the menu. The dirtiness really put me off and I won't be going there again. read more

The best sandwich in South Bend is the Italian Philly at Volcano. Excellent. The meatball is very good too. You don't have to drive to Chicago for a great Italian Beef anymore. Volcano is a great family oriented restaurant on the west side of South Bend. Their prices are reasonable, and even better on nights when Spaghetti is on special. They have a short, but nicely selected tap list and a wine list to fit all meals on the menu. A solid place for lunch or dinner. read more

My wife and I have been dining at The Volcano a couple of times a year for the past few years, when we come through South Bend on Amtrak to visit my elderly parents. We spend a night in South Bend so we can be rested to drive on to my home town and look forward to The Volcano's food. The pizzas, pastas and wine selection have always been excellent. We have noticed, in the past, that the several TV screens in the dining area have been tuned to the news, but not difficult to ignore while we enjoyed our meal. Tonight, however, the TVs were tuned not to the news but to the Fox cable channel. When Bill O'Reilly came on and started fouling the air with his vicious lies, I asked two waitresses if he could possibly be turned off while we were trying to enjoy our meal and both acted as if they were afraid to relay my request to the boss, but said they understood. At that point, having lost my appetite, I asked for our check, settled up and left without finishing my manicotti, which was delicious. I did, however, finish my wine and left a normal tip, as it was not the waitress's fault. I should also mention that much of the lettuce in my wife's Greek salad was decidedly not fresh. All in all, this last experience has led us to decide that this will be our last visit to The Volcano. I should add that I believe that it's really bad business to be broadcasting potentially inflammatory or offensive programming on three large TV screens in a restaurant, which should be a neutral and stress-free zone. That includes political or religious opinions of the right, left or middle unless you want to eliminate a good portion of your potential clientele. read more

We just love the plain cheese pizza. This is the only place we get a cheese pizza. I guess other places need toppings for flavor.

We flew in from Colorado and we were looking for a good local place to eat. Some old friends recommended the Volcano Restaurant. I was a little skeptical when we drove up, but my doubt was gone after ordering our family ordered the pizza and I had the lasagna. I would highly recommend either. It is close to the airport, so it is a good spot to hit either heading to the airport, or just arriving. read more

Stopped by on the way to the airport to kill some time. Awesome lasagna!! I'm guessing the pizza would be great, since the sauce was so delicious. No bar, but good beer on tap...domestic beers along with a couple of local pale ales. Appears to be family owned... Can't go wrong! I will be back in a couple weeks. So far I have tried the thin and crispy (sausage) pizza. The pizza tasted great. It is indeed crispy on the edges, but it is fold able not so crisp toward the middle. Restaurant was clean inside. Prices are not cheap but pizza prices seem reasonable. The quality of the pizza was very good. I will look forward to trying some of the pasta dishes next. read more

This place has such a family feel from the owners to the loyal waitresses that have been here for years. It's like the tv show CHEERS cause when I walk in they know my name.
