We are family of four who traveled to Viña Santa Rita to do a wine tour. The location and the setting, outdoor spaces, are all beautiful. The wine tour, mediocre at best. We took the classic tour package and visited a few areas of the winery - including the aging barrel room. My husband had to call to the tour leader's attention that the barrels seemed empty. Small detail, the guide forgot to mention - the room is merely a staged old barrel room no longer in use. Ok, not terrible. The tasting was what truly disappointed us. Done in a nice cellar, we tasted three types of wine. All ok. We had to use the same glass for all; no water was offered for use to rinse our pallets "just make sure you drink it all before pouring the next wine". Cheap. In addition, a number of people kept moving boxed in and out and kept cutting in front of us and in between our group and the guide. What a mood killer! The guide was a nice guide but no wine expert. In summary, what could have been a memorable experience was an amateur wine tasting - unexpected from a winery of this caliber and with such a great reputation. Please make improvements. read more
