Loma Larga Vineyard
Courtney L.

We took the Casablanca Valley tour on August 9th and had a wonderful time! I can't recommend the tour enough! Sure, winter is the usual time to take a wine tour, but the valley was still absolutely beautiful. We were picked up from our hotel (and a bonus of going in winter, it was just my husband and I on the tour... typically 2-8 people). The van was nice and clean and they provided us with a bottle of water too which is a nice touch (esp when drinking all day). Our tour guide was incredibly nice and friendly and didn't mind when I slept on the 50 minute drive out to the valley. We stopped at Bodegas Le, Lorma Larga and Matetic Vineyard. Bodegas Re had my favorite wine, Loma Larga had the most beautiful farm and passionate tour guide, and Matetic had a beautiful cellar and acre after acre of beautiful vineyard. Lunch, which was included in the price, was absolutely fabulous. 4 course gourmet meal each with a wine pairing. It was a set menu, but no complaints here! Ceviche, crab stuffed pasta, cobber and butter cake, beef and polenta! I was a happy camper. All told the tour took from about 9am to 6pm and they even dropped us off right at the airport. In the end I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, because the price was a tad high... but I would still recommend the tour. It's hard to put a price on the convenience of being driven around all day, the incredible lunch and the price of not having to drink and drive. Our guide was also really friendly and easy to hang out all day. Also note (and this isn't a downside) that each winery tour is given by the winery itself... and the tours are not private to your group.. you can have drop ins or other groups that meet up for the winery tours themselves... but this is nice because you hear from that company yourself. I wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with Uncorked, while expensive, it was worth the price (about 200/person USD).. and when will I have this opportunity again?

We also walked further, experienced more and spent more time together. Worth it. This tour took us through some of the markets, a long walk through Parque Forestal and stops along the way for Mote Con Huesillo (a very refreshing peach drink), empanadas, ice cream, and a platter of shrimp, ceviche and beef tartare. Plenty of booze to drink including an excellent beer and wine. Along the tour, led by the very entertaining Samy, we saw the sights and some of the places that make up Santiago's culture including the park, the Cerro Santa Lucia, a few neat neighborhoods and ending up near Bellas Artes. There was no language barrier - she spoke excellent English.

He was knowledgeable, funny, and flexible. His goal was to make sure we had a great time, and we did! We had so much fun, we wanted a second tour with him in Santiago when we returned from a few days I'm Argentina. But then we had a string of phone/email issues that messed up our communications. Despite that, Kylie bent over backward to get us another fantastic day with our favorite guide. I highly recommend this company!

The staff was super friendly and went out of their way to answer any and all questions. FYI, most tourist attractions are closed on Monday, you might be better served to plan something else than going to museums, and riding the gondola on a Monday. The buses were clean, the recording that you listen to, comes in a variety of languages and is extremely boring and useless. I've been on various bus tours in other cities with a live tour guides and it makes a world of difference, imho. We flew into town at 7:30 am and needed something to do until the hotel room was ready. Why not get the lay of the land, relatively cheaply with a hop on hop off bus tour, it drops you off at the most popular tourist spots. The overall length of bus tour without getting off is about 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic. Public Banos are few and far between, so take advantage when around one :-). Overall I give it 3.5 stars, but round it up to 4 because all 5 of the employees I interacted with, did an excellent job.
