This is a perfect tourist option if you are traveling but either feeling a little lazy and don't want to go too far or are short on time but would still like to experience the tours and tastings of Chilean wine. Plus, if you are a romantic, it is a great date spot.
This is one of my go-to places where I take friends who visit. This viña and the experience cant be beat. I even enjoyed it more than some tours outside of Santiago such as Concha y Toro and Viña Casas del Bosque (although their lunch was amazing).
When you start arriving to Viña Macul you almost forget you are still in a bustling metropolis. The vineyard is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood filled with lush forest-like vegetation. When you arrive, you see horses playing and can automatically feel the history that surrounds you.
What I like most about this vineyard has to be their history (along with their Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon). Since 1564, Viña Macul has been producing delicious wine but it wasn't until 1873 when Isidora Goyenechea became the head of the viña that they started making history. Isidora Goyenechea was a baddass (she is highly respected in Chile, known to be one of the first woman to be in charge of such a large business as she was not only a main player in the wine industry but also in the Coal industry and she was the first to install a hydroelectric plant in Chile).
When you go on the tour they will tell you all about the amazing stuff she did for the vineyard and you will get to see all the different ways they used to make the wine up until today.
Tips:
Getting there: It's a 2.25km walk or a quick taxi ride from metro Quilin (purple line).
Cost: between 9 mil and 18 mil
