I have been a loyal Vivint customer for approximately eight years. I purchased my original security cameras outright and replaced them with newer cameras in June 2026. Since the replacement, I have repeatedly requested that Vivint replace or upgrade my control panel because it frequently disconnects from the cameras, causing ongoing reliability issues. Despite multiple service visits arranged through the local Norwalk field office, the problem has not been resolved. The technicians who were sent were unable to permanently fix the issue, and my requests to replace the panel were denied. Additionally, I discovered that my warranty had been canceled without my knowledge or authorization. I am requesting an explanation for why this occurred and documentation showing when and why the warranty was removed. I am also concerned about inaccurate information that appears to have been documented following one service appointment. A technician reportedly informed his supervisor that he felt he was in danger because of my 13-month-old, 6-pound Maltese dog barking. At no time did I or anyone in my household threaten or endanger the technician. I believe this report was inaccurate, and I am disappointed that management relied on it without contacting me to hear my account before making decisions regarding my service. As an eight-year customer, I expected my concerns to be investigated fairly and addressed professionally. Instead, I have experienced unresolved technical issues, poor customer service, and what I believe was an unfair handling of my account. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, court for discrimination, and am requesting that Vivint: * refund full for my new cameras and monthly charges per Leia who's handling the case after reporting to BBB. * Explain why my warranty was canceled without my authorization and restore it if appropriate. * Review the technician's report and correct any inaccurate information in my customer file. * Provide a fair resolution consistent with the level of service expected by a long-term customer. I am aware that Vivint has been involved in legal litigation in the past. However, my complaint is based solely on my personal experience, discrimination, falsely accusing and the issues I have encountered with my account and service. read more

I paid thousands for a "professional" security system and got cameras that barely work, constant outages, and the most frustrating customer service I've ever experienced. If you want someone to actually come fix the mess they installed? Get ready to be charged again. It's ridiculous. They overcharge for equipment that doesn't work and then refuse to take any responsibility. You're basically paying a premium for stress and wasted time. They also trap you in these insanely long contracts. If their product was actually any good, they wouldn't have to lock people in. But they do--because most people would leave if they had the option. And let's be real--there's no way their positive reviews are legit. This company is so bad it feels like a scam. Either they're fake or written before things fell apart. A salesperson from this company came to my house last week and asked to see my current security system. I said okay, thinking it'd be quick, but he ended up coming inside, sitting at my dining table while I was literally in the middle of eating dinner with a guest, and kept trying to sell me for over an hour even though I told him multiple times I wasn't interested. I already have a system that I just installed a few months ago. I made it clear that I would only consider switching if it actually made sense, but there was no real benefit and I wasn't going to pay more for something that didn't add value. He kept pushing anyway and even tried to downplay my current setup like it was useless just to sell his system. Then today, another rep from the same company came back, ignored my "No Soliciting" sign AND my doorbell cover, and tried to say I was "interested" last time but just concerned about the price, which is not true at all. I clearly said no. The whole experience felt really pushy and invasive. I would not recommend dealing with them. read more

Terrible. And to make matters worse, they make it close to impossible to cancel service. When we set our home alarm, it would go off in the middle of the night and when we were away on holiday. When we contacted customer service, they were not only unable to rectify the situation, they actually told us we needed to be home to disengage the alarm rather than being able to do so remotely. Unheard of. Furthermore, we had to have technicians service the system multiple times due to "error" messages on the panel. The sensors constantly showed errors about low batteries and we had to replace multiple sensors throughout our home at very high prices. When we finally called to cancel service, they made it near impossible--calls were dropped right before the supposed final step of a 25 minute call. The next call with customer service was over 30 minutes, at which point I was told they couldn't cancel without speaking to my spouse--perhaps they should have led the call with that information. This happened countless times over the course of weeks. Out of desperation, they kept offering different incentives to remain with the company before transferring us to the next representative and the next representative... Waste of money and time. Fast to process lengthy Doc-Sign and afterwards you see the exorbitant cost of the equipment. DVR for cameras must be made of Gold...never seen it so must simply be a memory chip inside the console. The installation was rushed, carelessly executed, and completed well below any reasonable professional standard. The quality of work reflects a serious lack of attention to detail and respect for the customer. Equally concerning was the conduct of the supervisor Jesus Tovar, whose unprofessionalism and failure to respond only compounded an already poor situation. After attempting to address these issues directly through calls and messages, I received no meaningful response. To make matters worse, when I attempted to complete the customer survey and provide honest negative feedback regarding my experience, the system conveniently removed me from the survey before I could submit it, and the link was no longer valid afterward. This only adds to the impression that customer concerns are neither welcomed nor properly addressed. Given the substandard workmanship, lack of accountability, poor customer service, and now an apparent inability to openly receive criticism, I have lost all confidence in this company's ability to fulfill its obligations. This company kept emailing me talking about a buyout that I don't need because my equipment is already paid off With ADT I was only paying for the use of the service at the time. The sales guy knew when he came in my home that he was not doing the right things. The equipment is high quality but there's a lot of features that are missing window sensors and in order to get them You have to buy extra equipment from them. I was not feeling well the day the salesman came over and I told him and he still pursued. He asked If I have a freeze on my credit I told him yes he asked for my phone because I was in pain and was moving slowly. He didn't advise he was running my credit. I wish at that point I was denied then I would have known what he did which is got me stuck paying almost $4k for this service and equipment. I received the bill after 30 days so I couldn't cancel, but if I could, I would have. I told his sneaky, dishonest self I would report this if I find out he was being dishonest He should've told me that he was running my credit about how much the equipment would cost and give me an option. The technician was nice. I have no complaints about him at all. He's the most honest out of all of the employees with this company as far as the installation. do not use this company inless u thorou check them out. I had ADT and I could've just upgraded my equipment and been fine with that. It's my fault for not doing a better job of checking reviews as I normally do before I went with this company, but now that you see mine, please make sure that you DO NOT use them. I put my system on away. It's supposed to detect movement in the house and it does not. This security company is a joke, they pay their sales people way more than the camera's cost because they know once they got you, you're will be paying on the system forever. My 82 year old mother tried to cancel her system after having it for 19 years and numerous upgrades she told CS she is moving into an elderly home and they wouldn't cancel after she explained she couldn't have it at her house anymore and can't afford it after my father died. Was on the phone with them for 30 minutes and she was transferred twice to different people to persuade her to stay with their $60 month fee. She kept telling them to cancel but they still didn't. She had to call her credit card company to block them. Also, if you are reading this, she knows s kid in her area who is 19 who works for the company and he ended up making a lot of money within 5 months of working for them, they go door to door in Texas and lie to people to get them to sign contracts as quick as possible. He is now getting his friends to work for them, Its a pyramid scheme, you get other d2d sales under you to force people to buy and the cameras and system are shit! DO NOT BUY!! This company is HORRIBLE! I've been with them since 2021 and have had many issues. My doorbell stopped working after 1 year, had to purchase a new one, decided to pay for the capability to rewind ($300 extra) and it worked maybe two times in the past 2 1/2 years. The equipment is bad, always buffering. Finally decided to cancel because I knew I had to have my equipment paid off first. Call to cancel on a Saturday, but they don't work Saturdays so called on Monday. On the phone for 2 hours to cancel, of course they offered $5 off a month to stay, after talking to 4 people they told me I owed $469 to cancel and I have to pay the next month because they have a 30 day cancellation policy. After a long debate, because it doesn't say anywhere in the contract what the early termination fee is, I paid the extortion fee. And get this, I asked for a confirmation email of my cancellation after I paid, they said I'll get it in 30 days!! WTF!? Avoid at all cost, the cost of this service is no where close to the value and I'd never recommend to anyone! PS I also let them know I recorded the whole call because I don't trust their unfair business practices. read more

I had an unexpected visit from the Sherriff responding to a false alarm from Vivint. I do not have Vivint Services. The company was unable to connect me with anyone that could assist me with this issue. The customer service agent, Terry, could not even connect me with a manager. Several window panes were shattered, the burglar then walked across the living room and apparently smashed the Vivint panel. Worse yet, my dad was out of town with me so we had to deal with the police, neighbors, and company to board up the windows - remotely. Most ridiculous is that phone app showed that the system was still armed! There was NO notice from the company that this had happened. In fact, the alarm hadn't even been triggered - the technical support team had no record of it being triggered and no answers as to why not or what happened. The police were even perplexed. And then, as part of "resolutions," they send incompetent technicians who actually SOLD my dad more useless equipment - sneaky sales guy that did nothing to determine why the system failure occurred. And maybe the cherry on the whole thing, the likely reason I was given that the alarm wasn't triggered was that the system wasn't connected properly - and yet they wouldn't refund the montoring fees (they obviously weren't monitoring anything without the proper connection). All they stand by is their limitation of liability which they will point out to you every 15 seconds. Pathetic. read more

Deceptive practices. they provide multiple phone numbers for customer support that either don't answer or hang up on you. poor billing habits - put charges on your bill without explaining what they are for and when you call, no one can explain it. had to report them to the attorney general to get an answer. they make it nearly impossible to cancel service even if you've sold the house. you have to call and talk to a human who sends you a form email that tells you that you have to submit your same request that you just made on the call in writing to another email address. they confirm the receipt but don't really confirm that they've canceled. they send you an email saying they are "working on it". you contact support again and they tell you your contract is going on for another 6 weeks. I guess i'll have to call the attorney general again to get this resolved. i have no problem with their equipment, just the company. read more

Had repair come out they got them online and as soon as they left they went offline again and called support and they want to charge me to have someone come out to fix the cameras. I moved and cancelled my service paid my account off started a new account at the new house, they kept charging my old account for a year and a half called to get a refund and they send partial refund to my old address and now telling me that that is what they are settling on as I am not owed any more. No complaints about their equipment, but I see a recurring theme. Dishonesty, bad customer service, bad communication between the customer and their various outsourced people (Philippines, Honduras, etc) who are for the most part robots speaking from a script. Just yesterday, once again, I sat home all day waiting for a technician who was a no-show. I'm waiting on a response to this email, just to give you an idea why you should never start with this company. If you need any other reasons, here's an additional consideration. Apparently, after you get fed up and want to leave, no other company can take over the equipment- so you're stuck. Like in a bad marriage from which you can't readily escape. (then a description of my age, disability). "In June I had an appointment set up to change out my panel and at the same time I was convinced to upgrade my doorbell. I canceled a flight in order to keep the appointment. The appointment had the usual stress- miscommunication within between the Vivint "robots", mainly in the Philippines, Honduras, and stateside. No one was communicating with the upgrade department. After waiting most of the day I was told the appointment was canceled, but they forgot to tell me, but then the technician showed up anyway. They forgot to tell him as well. He was fine. Professional. Alas, he told me they did not have the doorbell I ordered. OK, it happens. (The same thing happened with the first doorbell though- I paid, but it took 7 months to get the doorbell, and a dispute had to be filed with the BBB). But Vivint made good on it. All was forgiven. This time the technician scheduled an appointment for the doorbell for July 17. Sunday. Today. Small window: 10-12. I have already paid for the panel and doorbell. There is to be no trip charge, and another camera was supposed to be changed out, and the doorbell was going to have a wedge so it would capture more area. It was important to me so I canceled other plans for the 17th. As a matter of fact the appointment was so important to me (given the security situation) I delayed my return out of state to help my daughter, who just had a baby, JJust to be sure I called several times during the week to confirm the Sunday appointment. So guess what happened. Although I received a confirmation, the technician was a no-show. Despite the fact that after the 2 hour window I called quite frequently, I was assured the appointment would still take place. It was only at around 4:00 did one customer service rep ( supervisor) say there would be no appointment on the 17th. Then I heard all these excuses and nonsense a reputable company would never use. I sat at home from 10-4 for nothing. To make matters worse the last person I spoke with said we'd have to reschedule, but nothing is available until after he 26th. In other words, I have to get back in line and wait my turn, as if none of what happened today and previously counts. There is no way that I agree to wait that long. Vivint is asked to send someone tomorrow morning, or at a specific time during the day that we designate. No more windows of time. I've paid my dues on that. This time I will not be able change any flights and I must leave to go help my daughter. So if you can help, great. If I don't hear back from you I will proceed with the BBB and other avenues of complaint. read more
