I just wanted to share my great experience at Vivint. I was in the market to upgrade my home security and Vivint came up on top in all of my searches. My initial rep was soooooo kind and personable and really helped me find the best package. BTW, new clients get some awesome deals right now. THEN, the rep that came to my home was also AWESOME. Please know that if you have Vivint, and someone damages or steals any cameras, you will not be able to access that camera's footage because it's all stored within that camera which is gone or damaged and can't be accessed by the customer. We were told repeatedly that the only way to get our footage we needed from that camera is through an arduous process of requesting it from Vivint's legal team and waiting for access to be granted. We've had Vivint about 8 yrs and loved it but realized we were loving it under false pretenses. The other night, a disgruntled Door Dash delivery person purposely knocked 1 of our 4 cameras down and took it. We called the cops who requested a video of the guy doing it as did Door Dash. We were unable to see the video on our phone app because the camera was gone and that's when we learned all footage accessible to the customer is stored within the actual physical camera that was stolen. The hard drive Vivint provided when we first got the service no longer stores our info for our use as they told us they stopped that ability some years ago, unbeknownst to us. In order for Door Dash to see proof, fire the offender and reimburse us for the camera and poor service, they require video of him doing it. Vivint said the only way to retrieve it from their cloud system is placing a request through their legal team which is an involved and lengthy wait. Definitely not helpful immediately when people are requesting evidence from you as the home owner. So though we have his face from the doorbell camera, we can't prosecute this guy legally or get reimbursed by Door Dash and Vivint won't cover the camera cost because we don't have video of him doing it which all goes back to their service lacking. So we just left Vivint, and today we got our new ADT system where we have cloud access that we can immediately pull our videos from without a hassle or months of waiting to get our own footage. read more

Worst service ever. I never could access their site. It never worked. I had to move due to health reasons and they told me I didn't have to take the equipment and they would get me new equipment for my new house, but when I called they said no that was not true. Dear Vivint UPDATED RESPONSE: This is the response from vivint. Unbelievable! It's like going round in a circuit. The so called loyalty customer group will only try to talk you into another bad service Deal. I do not use your service ANYMORE and I called several times and provided the verbal password but only to listen to long winding talk on offers to keep you, by your SO-CALLED loyalty group. My contract with vivint has ended 3 YEARS and DO NOT WANT TO sign up for any new contract because the equipment constantly had issues and the garage door could not close for almost the entire year and I cannot afford to expose my family safety. They gave me a fake price of how much it would cost and lock me in a contract after passing the 3 day try out period for their security system. just the other night at 1 in the morning I get home from work and find out my security system was armed but was not protecting my house someone could have just broke my window and took whatever they wanted or worse. Supervisor that I talked to said my system needed an update even though it never said any such thing before I left the house. So got love being told that the thing that you pay for every month is not working because the custimer didn't do something when actually the equipment is just crap. The absolute worst! They will try to scam you into upgrades by misquoting you on costs. I was told by a rep that I could upgrade my system for nothing down and an additional $10 a month, and then was billed $1700 and an additional $40 a month. When I called to iron it out, Vivint claimed that the rep misquoted me and that I could have everything removed for a refund. This was a month ago and I still have not received a refund. Each customer service agent claims that they have submitted the refund request, however I still have not received the money. Currently looking into getting my lawyer involved. We've had Vivint close to a year now and it's the worse. They came by several times doing their door to door sales. We decided to give them a chance so we left CPI and went with Vivint. It takes a long time for our cameras to load up on our cell phones if someone rings our doorbell (the salesperson Spencer explained to us that Vivint had newer/faster technology than CPI, that was false!), our Vivint control panel looks like it's from 2005 (with CPI, we had a newer panel with very clear picture and it was very bright, it also shared screen savers such as nice feature), the stupid sensors keep falling out our doors so we have to constantly pop them back in our doors (I literally just had to do it before I typed this review), this sucks because sometimes we aren't aware that the sensor has popped. I know with alarm companies, you have to use credit to purchase your equipment, well with Vivint, their credit card (FORTIVA) shows up on my credit report. With CPI, the credit I had with them didn't show up on my credit report In all, I hate that I have Vivint, but I'm stuck In the contract and just have to deal with it. Service after the sale is painful. Been a customer since 2015, called for support 1 time after 8 years. I had an issue with false alarms. The tech told me the solution without fully listening\acknowledging my issue and said the issue was resolved, but it wasn't. Secondly, my contract had ended, which included equipment cost in my monthly payment, of course they did not reduce the payment at the end of the contract, but some of that is on me. When I went to cancel the service, I had to speak with 3 different people. I am not unreasonable, I will entertain a loyalty rep at shooting his shot at trying to get me to stay. The call lasted 1 hour and 31 minutes for a person to send me an email that stated I needed to send an email to documents@vivint.com with my name, address, service number and reason for cancellation. My alarm was installed December 7, 2021 and on July 19, 2022 I had 2 thermostat installed. The thermostat didn't work and so they sent a technician out 3 times to see what the problem was and they wouldn't work. I returned the thermostat and they charged me instead of refunding my account. Poor Business practices. This is an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. These salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as said. You can never get customer support long wait times and if you do it is over sea's when you request to speak with someone in the US it doesn't happen though Vivint is based out of Utah. Have complaints about their business practices, especially when it deals with my safety. They are an alarm service you cannot reach when the equipment is not working very reassuring to me. You buy an alarm to know your house and family are safe, well think again. Not with the Vivant alarm system or its support team working . I have spent over six hours on the phone not getting anything done. No one could answer a question to get me to help most of my conversation was with the Philippines, yet a Utah-based company how American. The system itself would be extremely good... if it actually worked. Only had my system for a little over a year and already half of the perks have broken. But what makes this company a 1 in my opinion is customer service. I called because I had an attempted break in and the outdoor camera did not even pick up a person on my property so obvious is non functional. I called Vivint immediately and they proceeded to try to tech support the camera over the phone. This has now been going on for about 5 mo. Also contacted the person who sold me Vivint and after telling him what happened he then just decided to stop responding to me all together. Finally I demanded someone be sent out to replace the camera and had to wait 3 more weeks for an appointment. Get a message the same day that the tech person "took a personal day and needs to reschedule". Meanwhile I have been paying a pricey penny every month for a system that doesn't work. If you're considering a security system I recommend trying ADT. Priced a bit higher but I have never heard of anyone having these type of issues. read more

I would NEVER use this company. I live in a neighborhood with clearly marked "no solicitation" signs at each entrance. This past Saturday evening, a young man who is a sales associate with Vivint knocked on my door. I asked him if he had seen the signs and he said yes. I asked if his direct supervisor knew he was soliciting in a Neighborhood with clearly posted "no solicitation " signs. He said yes. I asked him to contact his supervisor, whose name was Josh, I believe. The supervisor confirmed the information and said they had a license and the sign had no legal weight. It was just a HOA rule. The supervisor originally said he would move young man to another neighborhood but did not. The young man continued to solicit. I immediately sent a neighborhood notification. If a company doesn't care enough to abide by the clearly marked rules of my neighborhood , I will never do business with them. read more

Vivint was in my neighborhood doing door to door sales. They eventually got a neighbor to agree. The installer named Reese took over a week to install at my neighbors house. Each day during the install, Reese would park in front of my house and dump his trash from boxes and wrappers into my yard. On the 2nd day I went to my neighbors to speak with him about his trash dumping. Initially, he said he didn't know he was leaving trash in my yard. Then he said the bag he used to transfer trash broke and he was going to pick it up later. He didn't apologize or seemed remorseful one bit. I made him walk my yard with me to pick up every empty box and wrapper he left. Their customer service is the worst. I wasn't sure if my issue was isolated and after doing a search for "Vivint Smart Home" in Twitter, I came across lots of nightmare situations. I'm just glad I didn't agree to the sales guy to install in my house. From taking a week for one install to leaving trash in our neighborhood, I would never recommend. Vivint. read more

DO NOT USE! I signed a 5 year contract with Vivint for security system and monitoring services. The contract consists of a monthly monitoring fee and a monthly fee for the equipment. My contract states that I can pay off the equipment balance at any time and I will be released from the contract. I paid off the balance in April and cancelled the contract. A few months went by and all of a sudden, they started charging me again. I received confirmation multiple times that my account had in fact been cancelled. It is now November and my credit card is still being charged for services. I have disputed the charges with my cc company but unfortunately may need to take Vivint to court over breach of contract since they refuse to honor the contract and will not remove my cc from their automatic billing. read more

I got my home security system with Vivint March 2022. I didn't have any problems with my panel until March of this year. My screen would go black and non-responsive to touch once a month. This problem started in March. I would call technical support and they would talk me through the re-booting process. It started happening so frequently that I knew exactly what to do to get it working again. I would still call them so that they would know that I was having this recurring problem. Last month, they sent a technitian to my home to "fix" the problem. HE DID THE SAME THING I DID TO "FIX" it! I stayed home from work just to watch a guy do what I was told to do over the phone! Well the problem still continued. Today, I made my monthly phone call to inform them of the ongoing problem and to request another panel because clearly there is a problem with the panel that I currently have. I was told by a technitian by the name of Omar that he would have to do the troubleshooting from his end first and if the panel starts working, he would not be able to send a technitian to my home. I reminded him that this was an onging problem and that next month, I will be making this same phone call again and going through the motions of re-booting all over again. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he asked me why did I need to speak to a supervisor? and I told him that I didn't think he needed to know that. He refused to let me speak with a supervisor but instead put me on hold. I stayed on hold for close to an hour. While I was on hold, I drafted this review and I called back and specifically asked to speak only to a supervisor. I was given the run-around and was told that they would give me a follow-up call and I told the representative that I would rather hold. I never got the opportunity to speak with a supervisor about the technitian named Omar who denyed my request to speak with a supervisor in the first place, but instead, he chose to simply keep me on hold. In the morning, I will speak with my attorney about what I need to do to get out of this contract with Vivint and go with ADT. read more

Tech brought the wrong equipment on Tuesday, so was rescheduled to the next Monday. Got an email saying it would have to be pushed until Wednesday. The tech shows up at the tail end of the appointment window WITHOUT THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT still then drives off to go get it. An hour later I get a call saying he's 30 minutes away and would arrive an hour after my appointment time. I cancelled. Glad I was able to avoid paying for this crap for the next 5 years. read more

On July 11th I cancelled my account due to poor service and inferior equipment. I was told it would take 30 days to cancel but on August 13th another payment of $51.47 was taken out of my back account. Called Vivint August 15 and was told I would get a refund and it would take 3-5 business days. On August 30th I called again because I had not received refund. Was told payment information was put in system incorrectly. Was told that a refund payment would be sent in 3-5 business days. On September 22nd was told that my refund request was sent to the wrong department. Was told that the refund was being sent to the cancellation department and check my account on September 30th. Refund payment still not received. On October 7th called and asked to speak with supervisor. It took 20 minutes to speak with someone who claimed to be a supervisor. Was now told that request was sent to Opportunities Department (whatever that is) instead of Cancellation Dept. Was told again it would take 3-5 business days. On November 18th spoke to someone named Mary who said she was going to prioritize and process my refund request and again wait 3-5 business days. On December 29th called and spoke to Sandra in Billing Dept. and Ash in Loyalty Dept. and was told a live check would be sent to my home address and I should receive it by January 16th. On January 20th spoke with Fernando who seemed totally confused by the situation, kept putting me on hold and my call was finally picked up by Adrian. After explaining the whole situation all over again was given the same information (lie) about the disposition of my complaint. I then asked to speak with a supervisor again, was put on hold and finally told that no supervisor was available. I then asked him to have a supervisor call me when one became available. Their salesmen are very aggressive. Flat out. And to me that puts a terrible taste in my mouth about the company as a whole. A Vivant salesman named Brian knocked on our door and clearly saw we were eating dinner but still asked to come in and explain what he had to offer. To be polite I went along with it and let him in, as he proceeded to explain all the amazing services and products Vivant had to offer for 40 minutes (we get it dude just finish your pitch so I can finish my dinner). After the sales pitch he pitched us the amazing price we were about to get which is where I told him we were good and weren't interested... after that he proceeded to tell me all the great features I would be getting with Vivant. I agreed with him the whole time the security system was nice and had great features... I just wasn't ready to buy it, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. Finally I told him he needs to leave my house.. he then accepted it and asked to use the rest room (which took him about 8 minutes ?). As he left my house he lastly asked if I have a bottle of water he could have... lol So overall they have cool products and services but their sales guy Brian ruined everything they had to offer for me and actually kinda CREEPED me out by whatever he was doing in the bathroom for so long.. I would love to give Vivint a minus 5 stars but the scale will not allow it. I have been with Vivint five years because I could not get out of their contract. From day one the security system gave me trouble, from cameras not working, slow communication with my cell phone, panel constantly needing rebooting. I spent countless hours on the phone with customer service who never seemed to be able to rectify my problems. On several occasions a service rep would come to my home to try to repair the system. They spent so much time in my home that I wanted to charge them rent and were still not able to get my system to work properly. In July my five year contract was up, I cancelled my service with Vivint and was told that it would take 30 days to finalize and I would no longer be charged a fee. On August 13th my bank was charged for the monthly service. I called them on August 15th and was told a refund would be sent and it would take 3-5 business days. It was not received. I was told the same thing on August 30th when I called and again on September 23rd.They said that the cancellation information was sent to the wrong department but they assured me that it would go through and take 3-5 business days. Today is October 9th and I still have not received my refund but again was told it would take 3-5 days. All I can do now is hope and wait for Vivint to do the right thing. My advice to anyone looking for a reliable and ethical security alarm system to look to ADT or CPI but by all means DO NOT USE VIVINT SECURITY SYSTEM. They are the worst!!!! read more

The department who schedules tech service never called to schedule like promised. It has now been 3 weeks since my break in. Beware of this company. Their sales reps are extremely aggressive and will ring your doorbell up until 10:00 at night. I made the mistake of answering the door and the rep refused to leave. He also promised all kinds of things that were obviously not true to try and get me to buy which I never considered. I eventually just went back in and shut the door. He stayed for a while longer and eventually left. After a quick Google search I found those false promises were reported by others as well. Very shady and intimidating sales tactics. They will say anything to get you to sign and in the fine print is a 5 year contract with a heavy early cancellation fee. Awful company. We have had problems since my husband signed a contract. The equipment never works. When you call about it the customer care people are always rude. Our neighborhood has clear no soliciting signs at the entrance and many neighbors have additional no soliciting signs posted in their yards and at their front door. The sales people literally ignore the signs and have told multiple people that those sort of signs don't apply to them. The one at my door a few minutes ago was named Joel... And he was quite rude.
