After Diana coloured my hair in June 2022, see how you can't see where the color starts from my black hair, blended so well

I've been going to Diana since 2014. She is truly a hair god -- she is able to take my black hair and transform it to a beautiful Californian beach blonde color and has always kept my hair healthy. I've lived in LA for the past 5 years and I still fly home to get my hair colored by her. I love that she does low maintenance hair color which means I can go see her in 3 months or 6-8 months and my hair will still be grown out in a way that looks good which is important when colouring black hair to lighter. She is so good at blending the hair color that I never feel like I need to touch up my roots, it grows out so seamlessly. I've also never had a hair colorist educate me on after hair care to maintain the color until I met Diana. She shows me which products I can use at home to keep up with the maintenance of the color so it doesn't turn brassy. The last few years I've been getting clip in extensions from her as well and they are coloured perfectly to match my own hair. Highly recommend Vivid Salon! Never going to stop coming here

My colour inspo.

DON'T GO HERE. I called vivid to book an appointment for a subtle beige balayage feeling excited since I hadn't touched my hair for over two years. I came in with the ideal hair, healthy, long and a natural medium brown colour. They're reputable and showcased their work beautifully on IG and I really wanted to treat myself after having a baby. The stylist greeted me and was polite enough at first but did not engage in conversation and was cold at times. I showed her my inspiration photo and she told me that I would have to come back for another session to get the colour I wanted. I didn't understand that as I had achieved bright blonde in one session with my previous stylist several times. Skeptical, I asked her to show me a photo of what I could expect her to do. She pulled up a photo that was drastically different than what I had asked for. I understand that clients can have unrealistic expectations sometimes but this was far from the case, they've posted way more drastic transformations on their IG. I was extremely anxious at this point and should have trusted my gut and left but they already had me sign an agreement. It was closer to the evening once she began removing the foils and the receptionist wanted to close the til so she blowdried the front of my hair to reveal the colour so that I could pay in full before my hair was complete. The front of my hair looked nice enough so I paid and included a tip for "good" service. It wasn't until my hair was fully blowdried that I noticed the inconsistency in the colour. I had a few golden pieces closer to what I had asked for in the front but very ashy bleach blonde on the ends. I had expressed that I didn't want any ash in my hair during the consultation so I was pretty upset when I realized that after paying $800 I didn't only not get what I asked for but that it was also POORLY done. I had a lot of yellow brass in my root as well which I had to point out and ask her to fix twice. I don't understand how a place this reputable can allow a client to walk out of their salon with yellow brass tones in their roots. She then began to cut my hair, I had explained that I wanted to keep my length and add long round face framing layers to my hair since she didn't want to see my inspiration photos. I expected all of their senior stylists to know how to cut hair at the very minimum and it didn't look professionally cut at all. The face framing pieces were extremely choppy. I asked her to fix the choppy-ness and blend the layers but she told me she would have me come back to have my hair fixed by someone else. Considering I have a 3 month old baby at home I found this pretty frustrating. I received a phone call from management the next day and voiced my concerns but felt very dismissed. Once I came back to "fix" my hair I was greeted by the same stylist. She toned my roots and shampooed my ends which did nothing. The owner then came to speak to me and asked me to show a photo of what I had asked for originally. She then directed the stylist to add more colour to my hair to deepen the inconsistent ash blonde pieces. She told me everyone was saying I was crazy and that my hair looked great which would be fair enough if it was what I asked for. Good from far but far from good. They had another stylist cut my hair. Once my hair was blowdried I felt the colour was a bit better and that the layers looked good. It wasn't until I washed my hair at home that I realized how choppy and unblended my layers were when not styled. I guess my only option now is to grow out my hair again. The next time i get my hair done I will do more research and not go to someone just because they present really well on Instagram. I have been reading very similar reviews. I wouldn't have a problem with paying $800 for my hair if I had gotten something close to what I asked for-I do understand the product and labour that goes into hair. I hate to leave bad reviews and debated doing it at all but this experience was unacceptable and I would hate for anyone else to be in my shoes.

LOVEE THIS SALON! The best one for colour in Mississauga!…read more I came in with super brassy orange ends and Gene took my hair to this beautiful ashy grey blonde balayage. The last place I went to overcharged me and only dyed the top 3/4 of my hair (not close to the roots). Gene was the exact opposite: he took his time on each strand of hair (a perfectionist), was incredibly attentive, and told me what he was doing each step of the way. The salon is run by a couple (Gene and Mariam) and they are such funny, kind, and patient people. They made the salon experience so much more comfortable, especially given that the balayage process took ~5 hours. The pricing is also really reasonable, compared to other places I've been. Overall, I highly recommend this salon. I'm definitely going back!

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. Gene completely ruined my hair…read more I went in for a consultation first where we both agreed on what I wanted. I clearly explained that I wanted an electric blue colour and even showed him multiple reference photos. He told me he understood my vision and said he could achieve it. The next day I had my appointment. He started bleaching my hair at 3:08 PM and didn't wash the bleach out until 6:57 PM. After the first round of bleach he told me he had reached the colour needed for the blue I wanted, and I was very happy. However, he then told me he was planning to do a blue-black colour. I immediately told him that if it was going to be blue-black, I wanted it lighter instead. He reassured me that he could still achieve the lighter blue. After the second round of bleach, he applied a very vibrant purple dye. I was extremely confused, and even the friends I was on the phone with at the time were confused because purple was never part of the plan. When I asked him about it, he told me to "trust him," which I did because he is supposed to be a specialist. When we were waiting, I asked about the price and he said it would be $450, which already seemed very high to me. Then when we went to wash my hair, he immediately started brushing it while it was wet. My hair stayed a bright purple and I started to panic. When I touched it, it felt like elastic and was extremely damaged. I started crying and told him I did not want him touching my hair anymore because it was clearly ruined. Despite completely damaging my hair, he still demanded payment and would not let me leave until I paid something. He even blocked the way and blamed the damage on me, saying I caused it myself. I have been dyeing my hair since I was 13 years old and I have NEVER experienced damage like this from any stylist until now. I did NOT want purple hair, and I definitely did not want hair that feels like elastic and is completely destroyed. This experience was incredibly upsetting and unprofessional. I hope no one else has to go through what I did. If i could i would give this place a 0 star review

So I went out on a whim during the Civic holiday dialled around in Chinatown to see if I can walk in for an appointment. Let's be real, there is no day off in Chinatown. Lucky me! Jane was free on the first call, and I did not need to wait or book appointments! $22 for a women's cut with cash only! What what?!?! Remember to tip! I usually pay at least double for a haircut, and can I honestly say it's double the quality of what I get from Jane? Nope. Jane took an after pic of my haircut. I only wanted a basic B hair chop with minimal layers at the end and she nailed it. Whoops forgot to take the before pic for comparison. You'll just have to imagine the girl from the Ring, that's me, hair to my waist. Jane and I had a good chat. Her native tongue is Cantonese, and she's giving me tips on how to style my hair. She mentions now with the pandemic, her client base is much more diverse. For health and safety, she is always masked and I put on a transparent disposable salon gown. I was the only person there! Likely, people didn't know she kept the store opened on Civic holiday. The place is very spacious for one person operating the whole shop. Jane explains she operates all three chairs there and switching between chairs for the next client coming in so that the chair doesn't stay warm for the next person.
