Joseph, the manager, agreed that they were liable and delivered several containers of a remover, along with scrapers and the tools necessary to remove the inappropriate coating then stiffed the labor when a bill was presented. They just flat out reniged paying the $4,000 labor costs after agreeing to cover the costs. I guess it got too expensive for them considering the "remover" was not strong enough to do the job. Every step of this process was led by Helm Paint's employees and I got stuck with the bill. We all need advice when it comes to projects we are not familiar with and need to be able to trust that advice. DO NOT trust Helm Paint and double check anything they tell you as their advice is useless and expensive. Just a TERRIBLE experience. Buy your paint elsewhere or risk getting stuck with a large bill.

They were very dismissive and almost rude, and provided less guidance than if we had sent her to Lowe's or Home Depot. Actually, the staff at Lowe's is very nice and helpful. We won't be going back for the rest of our painting projects for sure. If the paint is of poor quality, I'll edit my review or do another. But I am displeased with their customer service.

It was a bit of a ride from NOLA to SLIDELL, but it was well worth the ride. The particular item was NO WHERE to be found in the area, but this Ace Hardware was there in a crunch. I found the staff to be very friendly, courteous, attentive & willing to assist. Before making the journey to Slidell, I made a phone call to see if the 30-amp disconnect breaker was there. The young man who answered the phone was quick to advise, they did indeed have the breaker, however , there was only one left. I asked him to hold it for me at the front desk because I was on the way. He did exactly as I asked and I was able to, yeah, you know it pull 'a stick and move caper'... I picked up the breaker at the front desk, paid for it and I was out the door lickety-split in less than five minutes. No, really it was five minutes. I'm glad to have been acquainted with the store. The trip to Slidell was pleasant and it gave me an opportunity to get out of the office and get a breather. Glad to know this store is there. If I ever need them to come in again in a clutch, I'll be there. Pricing was fair. Offstreet parking is the call for the day.

This multiroom warehouse offers a plethora of bits and bobs from donated and gathered home improvement wares. One time I picked up an old door, an old timey facet head and some hinges. From these super economical finds, I was able to fabricate a garden gate, using the faucet as a creative spin on a traditional doorknob or latch. I love it. Recently, I eye spied, a partially used tub of tile adhesive and several random tiles. They'd be the perfect solution with someone with a tiny bathroom or counter top that needed sprucing up. You can find doors, windows, screen, light fixtures, tiles, wood, paint, and a whole host of parts that you can't pick up at any big box store. Think of the green project like a thrift store for your house or creative endeavor. Be patient and diligent, as it can be hit or miss.

This is a very important spot to know about if you own a historic home in the New Orleans area…read more There is a huge inventory of historic buildings in the New Orleans area which suffer due to the challenging environment of the region along with time that results in ongoing damage to different parts of these old buildings and it is hard to find replacement parts. The Green Project is essentially a graveyard of houses that have been sadly torn down and the remaining good parts salvaged which allows current homes to be repaired with the remains of destroyed ones. The biggest negative here is the sticker shock prices of many of the items as you are no longer getting good deals on many of the items which might have been much more possible right after Hurricane Katrina.
