My hair has a bit of a natural wave but it was never actually curly. I got a straight perm two years ago so I had frizzy, wavy hair that was growing out along with straight hair leftover. This year my hair started growing out more curly. I asked Vivian to give me a cut that'll enhance my natural waves. The cut she gave me totally surpassed my expectations (see pictures). I cannot recommend Vivian enough! Started going to her in 2018, and she has seen me through two hair colors, and many different styles. She's great with any length hair, and lots of different hair types. Vivian is also so fun to talk to, and there's never an awkward moment in her chair. I never used to go to a hairstylist regularly -- I'd just see whoever was nearby at the time -- but I instantly became a regular with Vivian, because I've never liked my hair as much as I do with her! Vivian is my savior! I moved up here a few years ago and had been going to the same hair stylist back home for years and years. Coming up here, I had no idea where to look for a good haircut. I yelped my area and found Vivian and decided she looked great and tried her out. Over 4 years later she's the only person who I'll let touch my hair. We've been through a few different styles together, longer, shorter, color, highlights, bangs, and every time i love what she does. I trust her completely because she really tries to match what you want to what she knows will look good with your hair and your face. She's so creative and has really good visions. One of the things I really appreciate about her though is she is always so conscious of how you feel about her work. I've heard horror stories of other stylists when people tell them what they want or envision and then the stylish does some version of that but then puts their own spin on it whether you like it or not, Vivian would never do that unless you requested it or she triple checked with you first. Vivian has been cutting my hair for years! To my horror this past January, at age 24 I found bold spots at the back of my head. I was diagnosed with alopecia areata (an immune disease where my white blood cells attack my own hair follicles and cause my hair to fall out). I didn't feel like myself, I felt horrible, ugly, and had so much anxiety over my hair. Vivian also cuts my Mom's hair and expressed concern to her that I hadn't come in in a while. My Mom told Vivian about my hair loss. Vivian said she had seen alopecia before and that I should still come in. When I went in Vivian was very tactful about how self-conscious I was. While working on my hair she angled my chair, so the other costumers couldn't see the back of my head. She gave me lots of advice on how to take care of my hair and cheered me up, like she always does. She cut my hair shorter, so it was less likely to get tangled in knocks and pulled out. It was also less weight and stress on my scalp. She showed me how to clip back my hair to cover the bald spots. She couldn't stop my disease, but she gave me a day of confidence, of feeling beautiful, and of not having to cover up with a hat. Vivian is more than a hair dresser. My hair style needs to be no-nonsense. Apart from slathering it with Weleda Rosemary Hair Oil before washing it, to combat dryness, washing is all I do - there is no hair dryer in my house, and I don't curl or straighten. Vivian makes it possible that my hair always looks fabulous, even with minimal care. I have been her client since 2008, and would never consider going anywhere else. People comment on my hair ALL the time. I get so many compliments on both my cut and color (colorful streaks) and people ask me all the time where I get it done. Women approach me at the Farmers' Market or in the store! One woman sent her friend, convinced that whoever had done my hair would make her happy - and that friend has been one of Vivian's clients ever since. My cut is short and has been short for many years, but Vivian makes it looks different every so often. I love how she has fun doing her work, how she analyzes the structure and feel of my hair and the shape of my head and takes all that into account. She is always enthusiastic about trying new things. I trust her blindly. When I have an idea about something different, she will think about it, make a few suggestions, and then start snipping, commenting, adjusting, and in the end, it's always a great style. We have been playing with color a lot - my hair is still dark brown with increasing white in it, and I want to jazz it up a bit, so she puts in highlights in funky colors. It is a different pattern every time, but never overpowering. I have been seeing Vivian since 2009. Asian hair is very difficult to cut because of the thickness. so when hairdressers mess up it is very noticeable. Vivian ALWAYS gets it right. I go in and tell Vivian that I trust her and let her do whatever she thinks its best and am never disappointed. a couple months ago, her number wasn't working I FREAKED OUT!! thankfully found her on yelp and was able to get the new number.
