You can tell her process works as she is working on your body - you feel sort of releases in different areas as she is working on you. I have…read moreall kinds of spine issues from my tailbone up through my neck (C2), and needed to be adjusted regularly. I did Bowenwork in my area for a few months and then moved to the greater Austin area. I thought I would go as long as I could without any body work, but after a few months I found it increasingly difficult and painful to raise my legs for each step going up to my 2nd floor apartment. I could see that if I didn't do something I was going to have a particularly difficult time getting into my apartment. I found Jessica from the Bowenwork Academy's "Find a Practitioner" and saw that she had taken all the courses and had more than 500 hours of Bowenwork experience. After 3 times of going to Jessica, I realized while I was quickly and easily going up the stairs that I was not in any pain! It just happened so naturally, I didn't notice I was doing better. Jessica has also worked on my jaw (TMJ), my neck (weak voice), shoulders (tight and painful), pelvis, knee, wrists, lower back, hips and feet. Afterwards, I have to sleep and allow the Bowenwork nudges to awaken my body's healing response. Really, I wouldn't believe it, if I didn't experience it every time. And Jessica has a sense of what is needed, and how to address it. She expects a change, and adjusts what she does, if it's not forth coming. I have also had a session of therapeutic, restorative movement (not sure what she calls it - using special balls for self massage) and that session relaxed my muscles so much that again I had to sleep. Jessica is not in this business for the money. She tells me what I can do to help myself at home. She told me where to go to get the balls and how I could find the videos so I could work on myself at home. She could have all that in her office and mark up what is already really expensive, but as I said she's a body worker not a shrewd business person out to make a buck. I've struggled with back pain for the past fifteen years. After several failed searches, I gave up, resigned to the fact that I just didn't have the time and money necessary to receive treatment for chronic pain. I'm a school teacher and so every year I get a summer break. Having two months off naturally brings out my optimistic side, and so this summer I decided to give the search for care one more go. I did my research and decided to pay Dr. Warnecke's office a visit. From the start, I could tell that there was something different about her. One of the things Dr. Warnecke said to me on my first visit was something along the lines of, "You're going to meet with me a few times over the summer, we'll learn some stretches and strength exercises that you can practice at home, and then by the end of the two months I'll send you back out into the world to continue this work on your own." What!?! I couldn't believe it. Dr. Warnecke wanted to find out what was wrong with me, teach me some things that I could do on my own to get better, and then send me on my way. She wasn't looking to keep me on the line and milk my HSA account for every last penny it was worth. She genuinely wanted to help me get better. On top of that, she had the answer to every question I asked, was detail oriented, and always made our sessions fun. If you're hoping to find a physical therapist who you can trust to deliver top tier care and who isn't going to waste your time then consider giving Dr. Warnecke a call. You won't be disappointed.

She gave me info on how to do it myself but the info was badly organized and I never was sure if I was doing it correctly. I told my DOC about it and she said "the person sounded untrained". I may try another PT at BSW, hopefully closer to me or move on. This was a disappointment. To be fair, I will say M. Guhl is a professional and if I was just there for regular PT she would have been a really good PT, but I asked for a specific treatment and was sent there to have it-and that did not happen. Medical doctors generally have exactly two tools in their toolbox, drugs and surgery, because that's usually all they're taught in med school. Chiropractic doctors go beyond that with various other tools, most notably direct physical manipulation. The experience of both my wife and I has been that chiropractic doctors are more knowledgeable, more concerned with our well-being, and more successful in treating orthopedic pain than medical doctors. That's certainly true in this clinic. In particular, Dr. Arbuckle has been exceptional in helping my wife with her pain. After a medical doctor didn't help her, I suggested Dr. Arbuckle whom I'd seen myself, on the basis of "it couldn't hurt to try". Since then I can't count how many times she's thanked my for suggesting she go, because Dr. Arbuckle has really been helping her.
