Instant panic at the bill…read more I walked into Sand Mine with dread as I had the same issue last year at a different dentist office and they wanted $7500-$10,000 to remove the bridge, give me a root canal and leave me toothless for 6 weeks for the new bridge. I opted for the antibiotic, the pain went away and I dodged a bullet. But now the infection/absess was back. Dr. Nirh came in with a big smile, talked calmly, showed me my x-rays and exactly what was going on. Basically, the infection lays dormant and will continue to return if not treated properly. Simply, I need a root canal which can be performed through the bridge with a small hole. Not ripping/sawing/breaking the bridge off as I was told at the other dentist office. I do have to have this part done with a specialist right down the street next week, but what a relief! I was prescriped Ibuprofen and Amoxicillian and today feel some pain relief. My cost yesterday: $0 for the xrays (covered by insuarnce) and my co-pay for the refilling of the "hole" after the procedure will be $145. I'm not sure what the root canal will cost, but I'm sure not $10,000. The staff were great, Dr Nirh was calming and layed back and I would highly recommmend this dental office! I am 62 years old. Excellent experience!!!

After the exam they try to convince me with a dental treatment plan they recommend and showed me paper work saying it would cost me $10k, mind you I'm just here to get this tooth out. I'm paying out of pocket as well. NOW, When I got on the chair after the numbing process, the dentist grabbed my tooth with her tool, a few wiggles and twists... BOOM. TOOTH WAS OUT. I was charged for a surgical extraction $435 and it was a simple extraction. They refused to give me a refund for the difference because the dentist put on paper work it was surgical. NOW WHAT????? They over charged me and refuse to refund the difference. Smh. No cutting my gums. No chipping at the bone. My tooth did not break. It was not a surgical extraction at all. I spoke to the manager at the office and she said there's nothing I can do, or she can do because of what the dentist wrote on the paper work, she put down it was a surgical extraction. She basically lied on the paper work cause she did none of that and she says it is what it is basically. What the dentist wrote is what it is. I can only imagine how many people they do this to on a daily. A lot of older folks go here and I'm sure they are robbing people blind because the pain they're in and just want to have the relief so they just go with it. I'm sure if an investigation takes place the will find a lot of bad doing here when it comes to over charging and charging for services they're not even doing. I would never go here again and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Overall I paid $814. They charged me $435 for the extraction and $379 for a cleaning. I called their corporate department and should be getting a call back in a few days. Pretty sure it's just to give me the run around. They owe me $256 for over charging me.

The administration in the front office promptly scheduled an appointment, which surprised me considering how busy they were. Within 2 seconds of sitting in the chair the dental assistant determined it was a filling and not something more serious. I was immediately relieved I didn't chip a tooth or god knows what else. Despite being an adult, I'm afraid of needles in my mouth - (I've had bad experiences at other dentist and can remember how painful some of the injections were) but when Dr. Van administrated the numbing injection I didn't feel a thing and she talked me through it the entire 5 seconds. If it was publicly acceptable to shed a tear over something like that I would have on the spot. She had me out the door in less than an hour and the quality + care I received was great like it's always been at their office - (when I went to the dentist 2x a year like I'm supposed to) I also don't have insurance but the bill was still affordable and I'd be 3x as much for their care if I had to. I will never go to a different dentist for as long as their establishment is ran by Dr. Van and her team. Thank you for the painless, efficient and amazing treatment!

During my visit, multiple types of X-rays were taken. Later, I discovered that some of those X-rays were not covered under my insurance plan. Patients should make sure to confirm in advance which procedures and imaging are covered before agreeing to them. Nearly 10 months after my visit, I received a statement claiming I owed money following what the office described as an internal audit. When I contacted their office, they stated the balance was my responsibility. However, after calling my dental insurance provider directly, they confirmed that I did not owe the amount the office claimed. Because of this experience, I strongly advise patients to keep all paperwork, estimates, and documentation provided by the office and to verify coverage themselves rather than relying solely on the office's verification. Unfortunately, due to this experience, I will not be returning to High Wind Dental Care and would not recommend them based on how this situation was handled.
