Davenport Modern Dentistry advertises dental emergencies but could not provide appropriate care for…read morea medically necessary tooth extraction, even with insurance. I can't imagine being in this situation without insurance. I presented with severe pain and active infection. I was told treatment could not be scheduled for over a week and that a $200 deposit was required just to get on the schedule. Instead of care, I was essentially advised to Google other dentists. The dentist I saw prescribed additional antibiotics and pain medication, despite my clear explanation that these were already ineffective due to the level of pain. She also refused to perform a nerve block, stating it would "only last an hour" because of the infection. Later that same night, the ER performed a nerve block that provided hours of relief, directly contradicting that claim. Most concerning: the problem was ultimately resolved the same day by another dentist using local anesthetic to extract the tooth. No oral surgeon. No week-long delay. Just competent care. This experience highlights a serious issue in modern dentistry: some offices market "emergency care" but operate with payment barriers and limited clinical response when urgent treatment is actually needed. I would not recommend relying on this practice for true dental emergencies.

So we started coming back to because of insurance changes and personally because I had some issues…read morewith my last dentist. Initially, I had to bring in my kid and their partner because the driver was needing for some work that was being done and they were getting set up for other appointments. While I was waiting, I checked if they took my current insurance and they did so I went ahead and set up an appointment for a check up. I was gotten in fairly quickly and they found one cavity so I set up another appointment to have the cavity filled and to have a cleaning done. These are things that my insurance covers. While with the dentist, I discussed some possibilities because I have trouble with the partial that I have. He suggested possibly getting a bridge done, but my insurance does not cover it and $3000 is a little behind my budgeting right now. I just went in and had the cavity done and had one of the better experiences I have had for this type of procedure. I have had trouble with lidocaine in the past and I let them know that they had an option available that wasn't just lidocaine that we decided to try. They put on the topical and when they went to administer the local, I only barely felt the needle the first time. This is usually my least favorite part, but it was really good. The only other thing I have issue with is the sound of the drill in my mouth because it echoes in my head. I felt that the dentist listened very well to me and did an excellent job throughout the procedure. I then had to have my cleaning and the hygienist went over some suggestions with me. We set up for the basic cleaning and I have not been caring for my teeth as well as I should this past year so for me, this was a little more uncomfortable than having the filling done but still not too bad. The hygienist had a gentle touch and I felt did a really good job. The only part I had an issue with was at the end where they did a polishing and it was a higher pressure using a baking soda mixture that just seemed to sting a lot everywhere. It touched but only for a moment. Really this was just new for me and was fine in the end. I really like the people I have working in this location these days and I'm very happy with the quality of care that I received.
