It was a little out of the way from where we were, but it was totally worth the trip. This little stand alone shop had a steady line in the drive thru and well as the walk up window. There is no dine in option, but more of a hang out outside of the establishment on one of their benches type place. The employees looked like a bunch of young kids, but they were professional and courtesy. Service was slow, but the place was busy and they do make each item when ordered. What they are known for is their made to order custards. They have sundaes, shakes, frappes, concretes, smoothies and drinks. I went with a concrete which is custard with added mix ins of your choice blended together. My concrete of choice was the Brownie Bling which came with vanilla custard, peanut butter, brownie bites and hot fudge. That first bite had my eyes rolling back into my head. It was so delicious! The smooth, velvety custard with the combination of peanut butter and brownies was the perfect bite if there ever was one. I don't know how they blended it that perfect where every scoop had all the ingredients. I tore that thing up and had to force myself back into the car and not buy another one. I have always liked custards, but this was one of the better ones I have had. I definitely want to check out some of their fruity concretes as well as other items. I hate that I just found out about this place during my son's junior year at Tech. I could've been coming here on every trip. Now I'll just have to come on every last trip of his senior year. Can't wait for the next trip!

When the right people succeed in a small town like Lubbock, there's nothing but joy I feel. One of…read morethe best consistent and on-point food trucks in Lubbock for a while has been Taste Buds. Spending many weekends outside Good Line in Tech Terrace, Taste Buds is a modern take on cafe food. They use some of the freshest ingredients in Lubbock and put so much care into their small but ever-changing menus every week. For the past few years, they've been running out of a food trailer, but thanks to their quality and success, they opened a brick and mortar location off 50th Street earlier this year. I finally got to check out their new spot, and it's everything I'd hoped it'd be. When I went on Friday, they were hosting an artisan market on their premises so they were pretty busy selling out of their menu, but my girlfriend and I were able to get what we wanted. Inside, the shop is decorated to the nines with decor and cute artifacts everywhere. It felt like a curated antique shop. If you see the pictures attached to this review you'll understand. I ordered a lemon pepper seasoned version of their Fried Chicken Sammich that has some of the freshest lettuce around and an excellent mayo (maybe house made?) on their sesame seed bun. The chicken was super crispy but not dried out and overcooked on the inside. Fantastic. My girlfriend ordered their weekend special naan wrap with chicken with cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and pickled onions. She loved it. Both of our meals were served with their house-made chips that were crispy and fresh. I could eat a whole bag of them. For dessert, we split a Chocolate Cake with a blueberry compote. It was very similar to a black forest cake, though the compote was served on the side. All the flavors played the same as a black forest cake. It was a great conclusion to the meal. The prices are pretty fair for the quality of the food and the fresh ingredients. The sandwich ran me $14.75 and the cake was $6.99 which was a great size to split between two people. You're paying for fresh ingredients and quality here, so it's worth any price tag. Taste Buds is still reaping the rewards of their success thanks to the quality food they put on the table, and I'm excited to see them continue to have success in Lubbock because there's no place doing it like them. RIYL: Ingredients you can taste.
