Although they are busy, I never feel like a factory part. The staff makes the mildly tedious check-in process smooth and they are focused on your comfort at all times. February 8, 2026 Update if stays of any my comments, one thousand three hundred seventy eight! From the hotel (forget upcoming Super Bowl Sunday Football hype), called Thursday left a message. Later came back to the room, seeing they scheduled me for Saturday 12:00 noon! When get there to Vitalant, Christopher says I So Glad You Got My Message. Okay so was yesterday. Arrived maybe 11:21 am. Weight 116.2 pounds, blood pressure 137/68 pulse 68! Yay, now since 1986, now is seventy four successful Blood Dates. Seventy four times three is two hundred twenty two. Each successful Blood Dates can save up to three lives! He saying again to me, Daddy Would Be So Proud. I had told him before of when gave for Daddy May 1994, Daddy lived another eleven years before he was Promoted To Glory! Besides just dontating blood for the snacks, Diamond was so nice! I didn't mind as much when she stuck me with a giant needle and drew a pint of blood from me.....a healthy sense of humor always makes me feel better! I tried to book an appointment online to donate blood but it wasn't very user friendly so I called the 800# for help and the lady on the phone booked this appointment for me. It was their earliest appointment available, about three weeks out. I was greeted warmly and treated with care here. I would definitely recommend coming here to donate...you help save lives, right now you get free Corona virus antibody testing, and the coolest snacks. Thanks guys! read more

Per the CDC masks are recommended when Covid case rates rise above 100 per 100,000. This is considered to be a high rate of transmission. Sacramento is above this. I walked in to make my blood donation and there were seven people, three donors and four staff, members visible, not one wearing a mask indoors. If you're concerned about transmission as of May 18, 2022 you will probably want to go somewhere else. Kudos to the empathetic receptionist though. read more

I have frequently donated blood or platelets and plasma at ARC or blood drives, but decided to try Vitalant this past weekend. My experience was great from start to finish. Friendly and very competent staff. Diana checked me in and was welcoming and appreciative. Rebecca was my RN/Phlebotomist and the experience was nearly painless, flawless and she was attentive for my first platelet donation at this facility. Maybe the best platelet donation experience that I've had out of more than a dozen prior platelet donations. Even the post donation snacks are top notch at this facility. read more

I had driven by this place for years, not realizing that it was here. I never paid attention to the building when I drove by. I found it by searching online and made an appointment. On the day of the appointment I went through the typical paperwork and screening. I recalled when the blood centers used to have a sense of humor and used Band-Aids with cartoons on them. Unfortunately, the staff here did not have a sense of humor. I happened to catch the nonverbal communication between two of the females working here. I was lucky to catch the communication common between females when they decide to cause injury to someone. It was a red flag but was not aware that I would be the one that they would injure. They used my left arm and caused internal bleeding. I kept observing their nonverbal communication. It was a learning experience of how common problems such as bruising could be done intentionally and excused. I am attaching pictures of how bad the bruising was. I used to donate blood each year for tickets to the State Fair, but I stopped donating blood and asked to be taken of their caller list. read more

So, this 2 star review is ONLY for my visit today, I would give 5 stars for all of my other visits over the years... I donated today and do so because it makes me feel good to something good and I usually leave feeling good about myself etc. Well today I left feeling defeated and chastised (in the nicest of ways) but chastised nonetheless! I donate whole blood every 8 weeks, have for years. Today for some reason the gal who helped me tried to "upsell" me on doing platelets. I 100% get that they need platelets and they are important etc. etc. etc. But man, I felt like I was being sold a time share! I politely listened and declined at least a half dozen times but kept getting pressured and basically harassed into doing it next time. Not to mention, the added pressure of telling someone NO who is about to jab a needle in your arm, I almost called it off and left but I assumed she would at least be professional about that part and she was, but the pressure and position of power or control in that situation was uncomfortable, uncalled for and unprofessional! I have my reasons for donating whole blood and that should be good enough! I had already mentioned to her how long it takes, usually about an hour and platelets donation is more like 2 hours! This gal just wouldn't STOP! Throughout the entire interview process, donation process and even scheduling of my next apt. ( she followed me up the scheduling desk when I was done donating) she kept PUSHING! I don't know if the employees are being asked to try and talk people into doing platelets or if they get some kind of spiff but I felt like a I was buying a used car and being "sold" on the undercoating and extended warranty! So pushy! Take a polite No once or twice for an answer and leave it at that for crying out loud! Anyway, just wanted to share my experience and give them some feedback. I'm sure it was not the intention of this employee but maybe she could use some insight from a customers P.O.V on how she comes across? Sadly I left feeling worse than when I got there, pissed off and taken advantage of, like what I was donating wasn't good enough! The day after the Vegas shooting, I went here ASAP, because I wanted to do something. Apparently about 20 other people had the same impetus I did. Sweet. The nurses and other staff were very welcoming, professional. I was very happy as to how *spotless* the place was. I mean, I could've eaten off of the floor. They have snacks for people who have just donated. They were very calm and clear in explaining how everything would go with donating. You walk in, sign up with your name and the time you arrive. Everything flows from there. It made donating blood even less painful and more fulfilling. Blood Source is one of only a few options for giving blood in the Sacramento Metro Region. I have been twice and I have had mediocre experiences both times. They call like clockwork asking for donations. The Roseville facility is always booked solid, so you are shunted to their Fair Oaks location. It is clean and nice, but has some narrow parking spaces, and weird traffic flow through the parking lot which does not lend itself well to any vehicle larger than a Ford Fiesta. My first experience took almost 2 hours with the initial questionnaire and screening taking about half of the time. Then I was handed off to a phlebotomist in training and it took some time to find the vein and get the "whole blood" donation concluded. It strained my patience to its limits. After the donation, they give you some refreshments and make you sit for 15 minutes while you recuperate. I had some tomato juice and Worcestershire sauce in a fake bloody mary which made me happy. My second experience was 8 weeks later (the required amount of recovery time for whole blood donations). This time the screening was 20 minutes, but I ended up not donating blood because they could not properly tapthe vein. They tried both arms and could not get in a good position to draw the blood. They nicely explained that I had not drunk enough water or should not be working out prior to blood draws. This is infuriating because I drink excessive amounts of fluids. When I went in back for the bloody mary, they explained to me that they no longer offer them because the Worcestershire sauce was in a bottle. Apparently everything must be in a single serve packet. They explained this while pouring my tomato juice from a large container. Think on that for a second, you may have missed it! I will not be going back. It is way out of my way to donate, takes time away from work, and honestly, if they cannot draw consistently on my veins, I am not into being poked by large bore needles. This is sad because apparently my blood is universal and CMV negative. read more

This is a pleasant location to donate blood. The staff is very friendly and professional and the interior is beautiful/clean. It's best to call in and make an appointment, but if you are not in any hurry, walk-ins are accepted. After you donate, be sure to redeem your rewards on their website for free stuff. They are currently offering free tickets to the Global Winter Wonderland, but there are lots of other things to choose from. They have hours that are convenient for after work, they even have weekend appointments! Every time I go in, the staff is very friendly. The check in process is easy and efficient. Well today was my second scheduled appointment that was canceled. I received an email stating that this was my cancellation confirmation like I was the one that canceled the appointment! Again the second time, same email no call from Vitalant explaining the reason they canceled my appointment. Both cases I called and spoke with customer service. First time they could not tell me why the appointment was canceled. After giving them all my information including phone number again I was put on an eternal hold. While on hold I just rescheduled the appointment for today and finally hung up. After my appointment was canceled again today I called customer service again and explained the situation and was told they didn't call me because there was no phone number in my profile. Not sure how that is possible as when I setup my profile I provided all that information including my phone number. As stated previously I also provided the customer service agent all my information including my phone number again. This is called "an old fashioned run around" We all experience poor customer service more than we should but you would think a nonprofit that is asking for your blood donation would be better than this. I have been proven wrong. I then asked to be transferred to a supervisor, they managed to complete that task after an extended hold period. The supervisor was unable to help me with getting another appointment today that would work with my schedule. Both the service rep and supervisor did inform me that they believed that the reason for the cancellations were do to staffing shortages do to the pandemic. Understandable. This should have been communicated instead of an automated email that makes you think YOU canceled your appointment or a simple phone call. Oh that's right they didn't have my number! It is unfortunate that when you have a person willing to donate their blood, in my case when I heard there was a critical shortage and you are unable to do so do to the ineptitude of people that work for your company. I have done more than made an effort to donate blood at Vitalant and will no longer waste my time with Vitalant or any other business owned or affiliated with Vitalant. This review is directed at the company and people responsible for the processes and procedures that deal with scheduling the donors not the staff at Sierra Oaks location. Victoria was my phlebotomist and was the best I've ever seen. Great at what she does, extremely knowledgeable, wonderful soft caring personality, good sense of humor. The new facility is really nice. The only downside is the hours aren't terribly convenient (few weekend hours and only open after 5pm one day of the week and even then, only until 5:30 -- so all the people who work until 5 are out of luck if they can't make that tiny window). read more

It starts with Diana who is warm, kind and considerate. Every time I visit to donate blood, Diana greets me with her terrific smile and goes out of her way to make sure that I'm appreciated. When I leave she always says goodbye and thanks me for coming in. Simply a wonderful person to say the least. This time I was help by Cecilia and Shirley. What awesome young ladies they are. I really enjoyed joking with them and they did their absolute best to make my visit a wonderful experience. I'm looking forward to my next visit and I will certainly keep coming back! read more
