Once again, Yelp came to the rescue while visiting Sandusky from Columbus over the holidays. I was near the water on an early morning and I was not going to make the drive home without some caffeine. After a quick search, I found Vita, not too far away. Score! I arrived to find a super unique building right off Columbus Ave and free parking out front. When I walked in I discovered that not only does Vita offer coffee, but they also serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, have a small market, a bar, tons of great seating options (love the lounge area) for coworking and during my visit, there were Christmas decorations everywhere. It was rather magical and unexpected. Very cool. While the service was a bit slow, the ladies behind the counter were busting butt. I ordered two lattes with almond milk to-go and both were thoroughly enjoyed (no they weren't both for me, lol). It was also surprising how long my latte stayed warm. Their eco-friendly to-go cups are solid. I definitely anticipate another visit to Sandusky in my future and when that day comes, I might just have to swing by for a drink. *Wink wink* read more

This place was so spectacular. We went here to close out our Sandusky trip with a quick breakfast and it exceeded our expectations. Their coffee list was extensive, and we all love our coffee so we were excited. We all ordered different things and tried it all - it was some of the best coffee we'd ever had! The flavors were perfect and so creative, the coffee itself was also tasty. The service from every single person there was above and beyond. They took their time to give recommendations and explain things and we felt very comfortable asking questions. We ordered 4 breakfast sandwiches, 2 danishes, biscuits and gravy, beignets, and the coffees, and the total was still under $80. It was truly such a beautiful place and we are so happy we stopped in. The food was good, none of it was anything super wowing but still very yummy and worth it. The bagel sandwich was my personal favorite, as well as the danishes. The croissant sandwich was good, although a bit oddly sweet, same for the biscuits and gravy. The beignets were just okay. So disappointed! I have recommend Vita to friends both local, domestic and international. Yesterday, based on my recommendation, a friend took her granddaughter to lunch at Vita. I joined them, but just for a coffee. The waitress asked us to seat ourselves and said she would bring water. I went to the coffee bar for my coffee. The young lady talked to another worker the entire time her only break from talking to the other worker was to talk on the phone. After 15 minutes, she got my order wrong. I just took it as I didn't want to try again for another 15 minutes of being ignored. When I got back to the table my friend and her granddaughter were still waiting for water even though people who came in later had their water. The staff talkers continued to talk to themselves and my friends food order was wrong. It was a very disappointing experience all the way around. So sad as this is a fabulous venue with so much potential. Unfortunately it's staffed with people who don't understand customer service. Absolutely bummed. The first thing you'll notice when you walk into Vita is the absolute beauty of the physical building. The space is huge, with soaring ceilings, enormous windows with lots of light, beautiful chandeliers and evidence of touches of real elegance from days gone by. Vita is a coffee shop, market, full bar bistro, and restaurant in one, and while in some environments this would all feel disjointed or confusing, in this particular space, it works. I ordered the Vegan Taco Flatbread, essentially vegan meat & cheese, romaine, onion, tomato, and salsa atop a flatbread. Despite its seeming simplicity, the dish was really tasty. The bread used for the flatbread was out of this world, equal parts soft & pillowy while crisp & crunchy, the vegan meat & cheese added a bit of an indulgent factor that created texture and flavor, and the veggies on top were incredibly fresh and bright, with the salsa bringing everything together, adding some acidity and mild heat. We had an amazing lunch with great service. This was my 2nd visit and now my official favorite restaurant in Sandusky. I ordered the Beef Wellington soup: the meat was tender and just right for a soup and the broth was layered with flavors. I had for main course the prosciutto flatbread which has puréed flatbread, bleu cheese, prosciutto and arugula. If you like a variety of flavors, this flatbread is for you. This is a cute little restaurant! It has like a 3 in 1 type of deal. Coffee shop, artisan market and bistro. I mean you could get a cup of coffee, glass of wine, and some food. Whatever you pleasure is! It's downtown, very spacious, and the customer service is great. Very warm and welcoming. I ordered a glass of moscato wine and the charcuterie board which has been voted the best in town for the past several weeks. The look is very chic and the atmosphere is casual. So much promise when we walked in yet ended in disaster. When we entered this place we thought it was a really cool looking place. Maybe a former bank building or something. That's where the promise ended... TLDR was we ordered about $400 in food which were mains, salads, and a few appetizers. Fast forward an hour and a half later and still no food. The server never even came back to check on us to ask if we wanted more water, drinks etc. Finally received our apps at the 1:45 hour mark which ended up being frozen pretzels. Then at the 2 hour mark we received our salads, but only some of us while others didnt arrive. This followed by some dinner rolls that literally were frozen in the middle. At about 2:15 hours we finally told them we were done and leaving. Never saw the mains and at this point we were done. The wait staff was inattentive and frankly rude. If you come to Sandusky do yourself a favor and don't go here. What a joke. Shame on you Vita. We ended up going to the grocery store for $1.29 frozen burritos since we wasted so much time at Vita that we were starving at that point and missed the window to go to other nearby restaurants. read more

Very cool ambience in an old bank. I took my mom here for a glass of wine after dinner and we loved it as soon as week walked in. The young lady at the coffee counter was absolutely lovely; thank you! However, Austin should not be in the service industry. Simply rude and unwelcoming. I understand these are trying times, but his rudeness happened even before our drinks were poured. With that being said, yes, I WILL be back to this place. The food that we (saw) served looked amazing and hopefully the service will be from the welcoming young lady behind the coffee counter next time. I want to give 5 stars for the feeling of this place and 2 stars for service, but I can only click above. Sometimes, it only takes one glitch to make people not want to come back and hopefully this doesn't happen here again. I'm giving this a 3 stars experience but would go back under the circumstances. We had a table of 7, most of us have been here recently, my first time. The building and architecture is incredible with dramatic ceilings, marble walls and the old bank vault in the back is facinating. The coffee shop is in the front, the bar and tables towards the back with a market environment on the center with some cool things you would normally not find. I bought the strawberry basil jam. We ordered a variety of drinks to include a bottle of wine personally selected from the wall. Beware of the $10.00 cork fee. The Wed flat bread special of your choice with a bottle of champagne for only $20.00 was a great deal. The 4 orders of flat bread was excellent and all served at the same time, impressive. I ordered the turkey avocado panini that was great, the ciabatta bread was soft and tasty. My freinds came back in specifically for the procuttio mac and cheese that was very disappointing. The dish had zero procuttio and very watery and bland, they sent it back. The final order was the chicken advacado salad, overall good but the kitchen forgot the advacado. Our server was nice, polite and did remove the mac and cheese from our bill. Overall I would give it a second chance. read more
