Initially it was one of the higher costs for what I thought I needed done, however costs does not always translate into value. I met Stevie, extremely insightful, helpful and immediately put both bike and us on the right path. Also as the bike was not in need of a full service it cost us a lot less than we expected. ABS and Stevie were so passionate about what they were doing, it did not seem like it was a job, more of a vocation. I will 100% using ABS again, can't recommend them highly enough.

I bought a Bianchi bike for general cycling and a little trail adventures such like the Carron Valley and recently the Cathkin Braes 2014 Commonwealth track. They do have bikes in the shop (which is quite small) but not too many. I fell in love with a bike that was already sold and I could not be swayed in choice. They then got in contact with supplier and ordered it for me. Told me they would txt and let me know when it arrived. 10 days later I got the txt and my bike :) happy. I received quite a lot of hints and tips and told if I came across any problems then not to worry and just pop back in or give them a bell.

I've been a regular for the past 5 years because I get such friendly service…read more It's not perfect, and there have been a couple of mistakes in the past, e.g. when my transmission didn't get the full service I'd requested, but if I've ever had a problem they sort it immediately and usually throw in a couple of extras or knock something off the cost. This was an unusual glitch for them as my bike has been perfectly looked after by them otherwise and after a good service it's like having a new bike again. I'm not a top of the range cyclist, just a commuter and keen amateur. They definitely cater to more expert cyclists since they have their own time trialling team, but they also cater to average cyclists like me who tow kids and want to get wee ones off the a positive start with cycling enthusiasm. They added a wee Frog cycle jersey and water bottle as a freebie to my wee boy's first proper bike order. He was absolutely delighted with his posh cycle jersey.They did a saddle swap trial for me at no cost. They're friendly and approachable. There's no snobbery or pretence; if you want to ask any questions they will always do their best to find the answer. They even gave my wee one a sandwich when he was having a melt down due to low blood sugar! If that's not lovely service, I don't know what is. :)

I called a couple of the big-name cycle shops and they couldnt even look at my bike for over a week, so i looked on the web to see if there was anyone else in the local area, and i came across East Kilbride Bike Repairs. I called the number and spoke to Sandy and he offered to fix my bike the following day, which was ideal as once i'd finally taken the decision to get my bike out the shed, i wanted to get out on the roads as soon as possible. I visited his workshop in East kilbride (near kingsgate) and he struck me as really passionate about cycling and who could fix pretty much anything on a bike with his eyes closed - he clearly knows his stuff having run his own bike workshop for years. He fixed the bike at a very reasonable price, and did so while i waited (and i also got some really helpful tips on places to cycle and ways to increase my distance riding). He also has a mobile workshop, but for me, it was as easy to throw the bike in the car. To be honest, I dont normally write reviews, but i was totally impressed. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend him.

They were able to take the bike right away, and I'd be able to pick it up the next day. YAY! I like when I can get these issues fixed immediately, since I ride my bike every day. We discussed the possibility of rebuilding the wheel entirely or buying a new one, but I wasn't really up for that when all I needed were a few spokes When I came back to get my bike this time, they had replaced (as discussed) the previous replacement spokes which were not up to spec, and the further broken one as well as all the other spokes had the tension fixed. Another thing they had done, though, was do a minor service without previously agreeing with me (my bike wasn't actually due a service for at least 4 months). They seriously discounted the service, which was appreciated, but again I dislike being ambushed for services / items that weren't requested (as so many shops seem to do) so I had to knock off a star. These guys are professionals, quick and efficient, working to high quality. My bike has been in tip top condition since my visit. This bike shop is definitely geared towards the 'serious cyclist' rather than wee, leisurely commuters like me, but none-the-less a great wee shop.

!!!Avoid dangerous bikes for hire!!! I hired a Silex bike…read morefor a gravel race. Initial communication and booking the bike was straightforward. Arrived at the shop to be presented with a bike covered dirt and with the drivetrain covered in mud/gunk. I was informed that I should give the bike a good checking over for frame damage as I will be charged for anything outwith a stone chip.......bit difficult to do given the bike was so dirty. I took the bike home and checked over the bike at the first available time which was the evening. After scraping the dirt of drivetrain and giving it a clean it was obvious at this point the bike had not seen any lubrication let alone a service in quite sometime. I should have called the shop in the morning but given that I was racing in the morning with friends I didn't want miss out and assumed that it was just a case of the shop being a bit busy to prepare the bike correctly. We started the race in the morning and all was well. After the first 20k the front brake started to fail, I had to pull the lever further and further back every time I had to break. After another 20k or so the brake was useless, even if I pulled the level to the bars it didn't do anything...........one final pull and the front caliper failed. Upon inspection the front pad was worn to the metal. The event mechanicals didn't carry spares (circular pads) and informed me that I could not continue the race and I was sent back to HQ..........it would be an understatement to say that I was disappointed. Took the bike back to the shop the next day where I explained my issues to the staff (Richie) and to my amazement I was met with nothing but obnoxious and belittling replies. As far as they were concerned the bike had left the shop in perfect working order and that was as far as their duty of care went. When I asked Richie when the pads were checked he commented "I don't need to tell you that", I ask him before hire bikes go out what checks do they go through, is there a checklist, etc they he replied "I don't need to tell you that, I'm satisfied the bike was checked". At this point he started to find the issue funny by commenting that his mum could do a better job at fixing the brake implying that there was no issue with the pads and that the two onsite event mechanicals who checked over the bike (and had shown me the worn pads) were wrong. When I replied if it was so easy to fix the brake perhaps he could fix it now to alleviate my concerns he replied "I don't need to do that for you". I finally asked Richie to pop out the front pads so that he could satisfy himself that they were fine and so that I could take a picture of their condition he replied "I don't need to do that for you". He was obviously concerned that I would share the images. All in all a thoroughly disgusting way to treat a customer who had expressed concerns about safety. At no point did I feel that they took my concerns seriously. If you value your safety I'd steer clear of Cyclelane.

George, who I believe is the owner, was extremely helpful and put my bike together when it arrived boxed up from the states. This is a fantastic bike shop, with a nice selection of bikes from cruisers to roadies to climbers. They also do repairs on bikes, for what seemed like reasonable prices to me. George told me he would have my bike finished within two days and I got a call 7hours later that it was ready, so not only are they reasonable but timely as well! If you are a novice cycler or a pro, West End Cycles is worth a visit!

This is a a very good place with excellent services and very help but I just bought some brand new…read moreschwalbe lugano tyres 1 day ago and went out the next and got a puncture in them and on closer inspection one of the tyres seemed to have a manufacturing flaw and seemed slightly frayed in the inside of the tyre wall at one particular point which was a little disappointing for less than a day old tyre. Ok I could have possibly gone over something hard but i was road biking and on the road. This is a very good shop overall but on this occasion was disappointed. I got a new tyre at Magic Cycles at Bowling and even he said the tyre was frayed/damaged.

The…read morefirst time I went in years ago I was really stupid and was too concerned about the look of the bike rather than making sure it was the correct size for me and woudl do all I wanted it to do I went for one that was a bit too big for my frame and the guy mentioned this to me and suggested others more in my size, but did I listen? No. He was right. I was never comfortable on the bike as I had too much of a stretch to gthe handlebars which seems like nothing at first but when you have been out for a while you really feel it uncomfortable. I ended up getting a sore neck every time I went out and qucikly went off the idea. The more recent time I went in, I actually listened to all the advice, and asked loads of questions which they readily answered. The got the bike in for me in no time and as it is a ladies fit, is the perfect stretch! They have plenty of bikes to choose from and loads of brochures, so will get one in for you if not in stock. Now I am no biker, I know very little about bikes, the world of bikes or even the world of bike shops. But the guys behind the counter are really friendly and made me feel very welcome as they explained the basics. If you are interested in buying then they will walk you through and they don't push a sale. Gear also sell all manner of bike accessories, from lights and helmets to pedals and pumps. If you ever find your bike in need of some love, they also offer bike repairs and tune-ups at a very reasonable price. Though because they are well known in the area you may have to wait a few days before it is ready. What I really love about the shop is the biker community vibe. They leave a pump outside the store for anyone to use and they have helped a friend of mine with his breaks for free. Gear also sell pocket cycle maps of where best to go for a bike ride in the city so if you pop by I highly recommend that you spend £5 on that little gem.
