It had been a few years since i purchased new glasses and i decided it was time to go to any eye…read moredoctor to see if my vision changed any and if i should purchase them. Glasses aren't cheap, and certainly i try to extend the life of my glasses as much as possible. I always try to buy great frames and get lens with all the bells and whistles including transitions etc. The better the quality, the more likely they can last you a few years. I have had both good and bad experiences at other eye doctors and eye care centers when buying glasses down in my old home town in Miami, FL. Since i am new to Van Wert, i tried looking up places near my home for reviews. Sadly, not a lot of info. So i decided to roll the dice and i called Van Wert Family Eye Care to make appointments for my entire family. Glad i came! Beautiful place, friendly staff! I was very glad to find the name brand frames i am used to shopping/buying, especially Nike. What impressed me the most was how high tech this place was! So besides the normal eye exam and eye dilation etc, they take a picture of your eyes using a special camera. It was fascinating when my eye doctor showed me a picture of my eyes and did an in depth explanation on what is going on... both good and bad. I learned a lot! This was definitely something i had not seen anywhere else. In retrospect, wish i had gotten a copy of the picture. My other major surprise was both the time and price to get my new eye glasses. Like i mentioned in the beginning of my review, eye glasses are expensive! I was expecting a high price but found that it was half of what i would normally pay in my old eye care center! I also got my new glasses in a few weeks (two if i remember correctly)instead of well over a month-month and a half in my old place. If you need new glasses or an eye exam, go to Van Wert Family Eye Care!

My family and I moved to Van Wert, OH from Miami, Fl about one month before the pandemic hit. It is…read moretherefore ironic that one of the biggest changes we have experienced with moving across the country centered around our health. This is something we continue to deal with because one thing we realized coming here was... that Miami healthcare is absolute garbage and that my new locality has better healthcare. Perfect example of this would have to be in regards to dermatology. For years... YEARS! I suffered not only with acne but with a skin condition in the back of my scalp... including my brother as well. I had it since I was in 9th grade. The condition was painful, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on how bad the episode was. Sometimes the pain would be mild, sometimes it hurt so bad it was awful to lay my head on a pillow, sometimes it just hurt that bad by itself. I went to dermatologist after dermatologist, trying to find a way to fix this. They all gave me different opinions on what it was and different treatments. I cannot describe the amount of different pills, ointments, and shampoos I tried for the condition... they didn't work or didn't work for long. One shyster told me laser surgery would fix it... yeah he couldn't explain how though... i didn't do that one. My brother and I started treating with Dr.Gray in Lima in June of 2020. We were both pretty jaded with all our prior dermatological experiences and expected to keep going thru this for the rest of our lives. For about half the year, we tried different pills and ointments that did not work until he decided that the way to finally fix this problem for good was to take isotretonin. It was a long treatment starting in January 2021 and ending in July...requiring constant check up with him and bloodwork because the medicine is very strong. Dr. Gray even was nice enough once we were starting to stabilize to do e-visits after our working hours as it was hard to constantly take off work. He would tell us to keep the faith that we would get thru this and it would get fixed. You know what though? It worked! IT WORKED! I can't describe what it feels like to be finally free of this problem after years of this. This man is a miracle worker! I pray that it would stick and except for one brief and flare up (i think due to stress), i have been pain free. I am thankful I tried one last time and got treated by Dr. Gray. I always tell everyone I speak to now, if you have a skin issue or need to see a dermatologist... you NEED to see Dr. Gray in Lima.

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea several years ago. One of the first doctors i looked up…read morewhen moving to Van Wert was a sleep specialist. Considering my experiences with sleep apnea, i know having quality sleep is incredibly important just so you can function day to day. Without my CPAP machine, monitoring of the results every so often, i could go back to having terrible sleep and being unable to stay awake throughout the day, feeling lethargic and irritable. Moreover the health issues of sleep apnea could kill me. I started to see Dr. Scott Jarvis because i wanted to avoid all of these problems. The doctor is very knowledgeable and helpful. He takes time to listen to you and comes up with plans of actions to get you sleeping soundly as soon as possible. When i first came to him i was having bad sleep issues again even with the CPAP which temporarily necessitated needing to be on some medication. The staff is also wonderful. They really care. I remember when i told them during my first appointment that i badly needed new tubing and mask for the CPAP machine (you have to replace it every few months). As i haven't for a long time due to the move from Florida up here, living in a hotel, finding a house, actually moving, and a myriad of other issues. Knowing how it was going to take some time for the insurance to connect with the durable equipment provider, they gave me a free one. I was shocked. I never expected that act of kindness. The entire staff take care of you. Perfect example, if it wasn't for them i would not have found out my CPAP machine i got down in Florida is under recall. I would never have known this. I also want to take time to say that i have seen the room where they do the sleep study. I did not have to do it again, thankfully, since i was able to get my medical records with their help from Miami. I was impressed and have to say their room for the sleep study is way better furnished and comfortable than the one down in Miami. If you need a sleep study done, or see a sleep specialist. Come to Van Wert Sleep Center and see Dr. Jarvis and his great staff!

This has been especially the case since i have been taking medication for at least six months that requires i have monthly blood work until i am off it. My previous experiences with blood work and/or other medical analysis have been with Quest Diagnostic Centers when i lived in Miami. It was a chain of diagnostic centers where their level of service greatly differed based on which one you went to and even sometimes what day you went/who was attending you. You may get someone friendly, or someone surly. Sometimes you had a great experience... others a terrible one... and the wait times were ridiculously long. Van Wert Health, on the other hand, is completely different. I have not had a single bad experience with them. Everyone on the staff is friendly and courteous. Longest wait time i had was 20 minutes... and that was one time... usually i check in and i am immediately called. If you need lab work done in the area, definitely come here!
