Her staff patiently showed me dozens of lenses to try on while I waited for my eye to dilate, and I'm never pressured into buying anything or shamed for being stingy with my eye care dollars.

Three weeks after receiving my new glasses, costing $400.00,one of the nose pads fell off. Upon returning the glasses, the technician informed me there would be a $5.00 charge to replace the nose pad. After explaining that the glasses were only three weeks old and some further discussion, he reluctantly, agreed to no charge. Personally, I could care less about the $5.00, it was the attitude of the individual I found to be unacceptable... I thought about bringing this matter to Dr. Miller's attention but she was with another patient and I thought this would be inappropriate.

It had been a few years since i purchased new glasses and i decided it was time to go to any eye…read moredoctor to see if my vision changed any and if i should purchase them. Glasses aren't cheap, and certainly i try to extend the life of my glasses as much as possible. I always try to buy great frames and get lens with all the bells and whistles including transitions etc. The better the quality, the more likely they can last you a few years. I have had both good and bad experiences at other eye doctors and eye care centers when buying glasses down in my old home town in Miami, FL. Since i am new to Van Wert, i tried looking up places near my home for reviews. Sadly, not a lot of info. So i decided to roll the dice and i called Van Wert Family Eye Care to make appointments for my entire family. Glad i came! Beautiful place, friendly staff! I was very glad to find the name brand frames i am used to shopping/buying, especially Nike. What impressed me the most was how high tech this place was! So besides the normal eye exam and eye dilation etc, they take a picture of your eyes using a special camera. It was fascinating when my eye doctor showed me a picture of my eyes and did an in depth explanation on what is going on... both good and bad. I learned a lot! This was definitely something i had not seen anywhere else. In retrospect, wish i had gotten a copy of the picture. My other major surprise was both the time and price to get my new eye glasses. Like i mentioned in the beginning of my review, eye glasses are expensive! I was expecting a high price but found that it was half of what i would normally pay in my old eye care center! I also got my new glasses in a few weeks (two if i remember correctly)instead of well over a month-month and a half in my old place. If you need new glasses or an eye exam, go to Van Wert Family Eye Care!

It was 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment before the process began. The total time of my appt from the time first seen to leaving the business after ordering eyeglasses was 2 hours. This place is very professional and Dr. Bidlack was courteous, informative and and overall great experience. He did not rush the appointment like most chain eyeglass stores do. The customer experience was first rate. My only complaint was that the eye glass tech who set up my order did not do a very informative job in letting me know pricing options. He set me up with best of the best of which i would of ordered anyway but it would be nice if he offered per say alternatives. An exam with the ordering of a set of safety glasses and personal glasses set me back over $700.00. The upside was my glasses arrived way earlier then expected. Though i would like i can not expect pricing comparitive to internet businesses that have little to no cost in operating expenses. With all that i've said i will state i will go back to Van Wert Vision again. I desire the personal small town experience. I want to be seen as a person and not a dollar sign and VWV made me feel that way. I would rather spend local knowing they will buy my product if they so desire. I would recommend Van Wert Vision to anybody seeking eye health, eyewear needs.

My family and I moved to Van Wert, OH from Miami, Fl about one month before the pandemic hit. It is…read moretherefore ironic that one of the biggest changes we have experienced with moving across the country centered around our health. This is something we continue to deal with because one thing we realized coming here was... that Miami healthcare is absolute garbage and that my new locality has better healthcare. Perfect example of this would have to be in regards to dermatology. For years... YEARS! I suffered not only with acne but with a skin condition in the back of my scalp... including my brother as well. I had it since I was in 9th grade. The condition was painful, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on how bad the episode was. Sometimes the pain would be mild, sometimes it hurt so bad it was awful to lay my head on a pillow, sometimes it just hurt that bad by itself. I went to dermatologist after dermatologist, trying to find a way to fix this. They all gave me different opinions on what it was and different treatments. I cannot describe the amount of different pills, ointments, and shampoos I tried for the condition... they didn't work or didn't work for long. One shyster told me laser surgery would fix it... yeah he couldn't explain how though... i didn't do that one. My brother and I started treating with Dr.Gray in Lima in June of 2020. We were both pretty jaded with all our prior dermatological experiences and expected to keep going thru this for the rest of our lives. For about half the year, we tried different pills and ointments that did not work until he decided that the way to finally fix this problem for good was to take isotretonin. It was a long treatment starting in January 2021 and ending in July...requiring constant check up with him and bloodwork because the medicine is very strong. Dr. Gray even was nice enough once we were starting to stabilize to do e-visits after our working hours as it was hard to constantly take off work. He would tell us to keep the faith that we would get thru this and it would get fixed. You know what though? It worked! IT WORKED! I can't describe what it feels like to be finally free of this problem after years of this. This man is a miracle worker! I pray that it would stick and except for one brief and flare up (i think due to stress), i have been pain free. I am thankful I tried one last time and got treated by Dr. Gray. I always tell everyone I speak to now, if you have a skin issue or need to see a dermatologist... you NEED to see Dr. Gray in Lima.
