Staff is excellent at preventing patients from seeing the doctor even in emergencies. They're mantra is he is busy.

I used to like this practice, but my recent visit was an incredibly disappointing experience. The paperwork they asked me to fill out and sign included a statement confirming I had been offered a copy of the privacy policy, which I hadn't, so I didn't sign it. I waited over 30 minutes in an empty waiting room with a too-loud TV crackling annoyingly before I was called back, at which time the staff member I interacted with asked me to sign the form. I noted that I hadn't been provided with the privacy policy, and she tried to argue with me briefly before agreeing to find me a copy of the policy (so more waiting). This was the only part of the several pages of paperwork she even glanced at before proceeding to ask me all the same medical-history questions I had filled out on paper so she could enter them into her tablet. She also mentioned that she couldn't find some of the tools she needed for the exam. Most disturbing at this point was that she was visibly ill, hoarse and sniffling with a red nose, which she blew into a tissue in front of me---and then didn't bother washing her hands afterward. I was then moved around again and waited longer in both another waiting room and an exam room. The doctor, who didn't wash her hands when she entered the exam room, without warning or consent TOUCHED MY FACE WITH HER BARE HANDS. I chose my frames quickly and waited again for a curt optician to complete the process. In the end, I was ushered around this office for nearly two hours, although my exam was a simple one with no complications. Most importantly, I was completely appalled by the lack of cleanliness in this office. The countertop surfaces, floors, and eyeglass frame samples were visibly dirty and disheveled, and the staff demonstrated a lack of hygiene and patient safety that was particularly horrifying. read more

I never write negative reviews but I am extremely disappointed with the care that my husband received at their facility. For a simple contact lense exams, he ended up needing 5 different appointments between May and August. (He works in Botkins, so this was day everytime we went). We then had to wait almost two months for his lenses to actually come in (which I understand may not be 100% their fault). However, the communication was not great. My husband was not pleased with the cleanliness of the facility or Dr. Fishbaugh; he said that he felt like a used car salesman. After everything got sorted and we had already decided that we would not be returning to this location, I received a phone call stating that they had linked my husbands insurance account to someone in California and that we actually owe over $300. I was obviously upset by this and asked how this could happen. Bethany essentially blamed my husband for not correcting them when he would come in, and they would ask "Do you still have X insurance?". I was appalled; how is it the patient's fault that even though we turned over insurance cards no less than 3 times, he was somehow responsible for selecting the incorrect information for someone across the country? She said that every patient is expected to know what the name of their insurance is. I guess it wasn't enough that we trusted the professionals to have all of the correct information. It would have been one thing if she would have been apologetic and tried to work together to get this sorted but within 2 minutes of being on the phone, she was blaming my husband. read more

I've been going here for a while and we love it! They are so kind and understanding. They are great at what they do. They are great with kids , they are patient. The wait times are a little longer than expected sometimes but I had to put in the consideration that Covid has put a bit of stress on them and their patients. read more

I don't think I've ever left a negative review but I'm VERY disappointed with this practice. I had been at the same optometrist office all my life, but required a new one with insurance change. I called insurance and practice before coming to verify all costs would be covered besides glasses or contacts. I notified them I didn't want anything done my insurance didn't cover. However, they ordered an extra exam, and I received an $85 bill. I've never had this happen at my old practice. The doctor also had my prescription wrong and when questioned if my eyes improved from last year, she updated to the right prescription. I waited over an hour with 3 small children with inappropriate things on the television. I was hoping I found a nice family practice that cares. As someone who works in health care, this experience was very unprofessional and I will not be referring any patients, family or friends to this practice. read more

The staff and doctors here are good. However, the wait times are ridiculous. Every time we are there we wait for an hour to an hour and a half to be brought back to a room and then another 20-30 minutes for the doctor to come in. At one of our appointments for a simple eye exam and glasses we were there for a total of 3.5 hours...the majority is that time spent waiting. While I trust the physicians and feel we get good care, I cannot spend en entire day in their office and this is the thing that is making me consider finding a new eye care provider. I am in the medical field so I understand how appointment times can run over. However, this is not the exception there, it is the rule. It is a consistent issue with every appointment we have had no matter which doctor we have seen. Oh...and my daughter was asked to come in two days before her scheduled appointment for some testing so that her sample contacts would be there for her appointment. After waiting for an hour in the office for an hour and fifteen minutes before being brought back to a room, they told us that they didn't have what they needed for her, and that one of the staff members may have to take a contact out of her own eye for my daughter to try! I'm pretty sure this violates health codes and frankly is disgusting. I am still completely shocked that this was even a thought in any healthcare provider's head. read more

Terrible, have been going there for about 2 years now. I should have known the first time we walked in. The ladies at the front are VERY rude and grumpy. I think this is because they accept Medicare. The last time I went, like usual, when I walked in the women in the front were rude, Like always. But I have to say the doctor was actually very nice. At the end, I decided to look at glasses. The doctor asked the ladies who work at the glasses department to help me. She just walked by and looked at me. The doctor then asked again "Can you please help him over there?" Never saw the ladies again. I just walked out. Then, when I got the bill in the mail they overcharged me. VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more

Update: last week I received a bill. The due date on the bill was dated BEFORE the postmark date. They actually sent me a bill that was due before the day they mailed it. Lacking access to a time machine (working on it though), I had no choice but to pay it late. This place is a hot mess. read more

New to Lima, I found this optometrist that accepts my insurance. Scheduling was easy and I arrived on time. That is the end of my good experience. When I saw the eye doctor, had the test and went over options, I quickly became frustrated with Dr. Bankey who insisted on treating me like an idiot. I did not have questions, I did not need explanations of general contact /eye glass wearing habits, and i did not need to be told the same thing several times. I explained I have been wearing contacts for almost 20 years and glasses almost 30 years and that was unnecessary. Each time I said ANYTHING Dr. Bankey started over the same dialogue. I was the only person checked in at the time of my appointment and the whole process took 1.5 hours. As I checked out I asked for my glasses prescription several times and had to come back in before given it. Receptionist acted annoyed at me that I kept insisting she do her job. When I came in for my follow up appointment to check the trial contacts I was given (because my current brand is too 'old' of a company), I complained about blurred vision and not being able to see correctly. Since I GUESSED 20/20 both the assistant and the doctor argued with me that my vision was FINE. I'm the one that is 'seeing', shouldn't I determine if something is blurry or not?! After refusing the contact prescription of the trial pair loudly, Dr. Bankey did a quick vision test and realized she had given me the wrong trial pair because that is all she had on hand. I still have not ordered new contacts so I don't know if the prescription she gave me is now correct but I will not be going back there in the future. Too many frustrations. They don't care about customer service or listening to the patients at all. read more

I went here for the first time. I will be going back. The wait was a little long, but there was a kid with an emergency. If my eye was as red as this kids, I would want them to see me ASAP too. The doctor apologized for keeping me waiting. The exam was good. Everything was explained to me. There is a huge amount of glasses to chose from. Overall really nice office. read more
