Glasses aren't cheap, and certainly i try to extend the life of my glasses as much as possible. I always try to buy great frames and get lens with all the bells and whistles including transitions etc. The better the quality, the more likely they can last you a few years. I have had both good and bad experiences at other eye doctors and eye care centers when buying glasses down in my old home town in Miami, FL. Since i am new to Van Wert, i tried looking up places near my home for reviews. Sadly, not a lot of info. So i decided to roll the dice and i called Van Wert Family Eye Care to make appointments for my entire family. Glad i came! Beautiful place, friendly staff! I was very glad to find the name brand frames i am used to shopping/buying, especially Nike. What impressed me the most was how high tech this place was! So besides the normal eye exam and eye dilation etc, they take a picture of your eyes using a special camera. It was fascinating when my eye doctor showed me a picture of my eyes and did an in depth explanation on what is going on... both good and bad. I learned a lot! This was definitely something i had not seen anywhere else. In retrospect, wish i had gotten a copy of the picture. My other major surprise was both the time and price to get my new eye glasses. Like i mentioned in the beginning of my review, eye glasses are expensive! I was expecting a high price but found that it was half of what i would normally pay in my old eye care center! I also got my new glasses in a few weeks (two if i remember correctly)instead of well over a month-month and a half in my old place. When i bought my new home months ago, i bought from the old owners two grandfather clocks. Always…read moredreamt of owning one... so was excited to have them. The thing is, the old owner removed the workings inside one of the clocks and i have no idea what she did to the other. I spent months trying to find someone who knew how to fix them and my lawn guy told me to call Laudick's Jewelry because and speak with Mike Litchle. I called him and on the phone he helped me get one of the clocks working, the other he had to come himself. He came by and fixed my clock and taught me how to set the clock weekly. So if you have a grandfather clock needing to be fixed... this is a place to go. Besides that, its a beautiful jewelry store. Definitely a place to buy some jewelry for a significant other or someone you love. If and when i find someone to buy some jewelry for, definitely will come here. They are supposedly planning in a few weeks a set of events first a ladies night where ladies pick out several pieces they would like their husband, boyfriend, whoever to buy them. Then weeks after, a separate event for the men tk come and buy from that list... hang out... drink and eat and have fun with other guys. That sounds so cool! Super friendly people here, beautiful jewelry, fun events, and hey they fixed my grandfather clocks!

Did an online order for the Van Wert, Ohio store and had a free "same day delivery". It was ordered…read morebefore noon (website says by 2pm for same day delivery). Had not been delivered by 6pm, so I called the store. The lady that I talked to simply told me that it didn't get delivered, and there was nothing she could do, and that it would "probably be delivered tomorrow". I said that I wasn't going to be home tomorrow. She said "no problem they'll leave it on the front porch". I said I don't want it on the front porch, I'd like it in the back of the house. She said the people that deliver don't work for us so there's nothing I can do. I told her that didn't sound like very good customer service to me. She said that she was trying to help me, and that she wasn't going to sit and listen to me if I was going to be nasty to her. I said I'm not being nasty, I just want to get my issue resolved. She hung up on me. Unbelievable! I've never had such a rude experience with a store manager, assistant manager, or whatever her title was. All my business will be directed down the street to Rural King from now on! Update: I called TSC Customer Care and spoke with a very nice representative that was able to send a message to the delivery company and let them know that if they couldn't make the delivery today, where to leave it tomorrow, since the customer wouldn't be home. Not sure why the local store couldn't have done the same, other than she clearly stated that it wasn't her problem and there was nothing she could do. At any rate, about 90 minutes after the above mentioned phone call the delivery showed up at my house. Maybe the store needs some training on how to communicate with their delivery service, as well as their customers??????

Two stars only for the very sweet other employees that helped me out today, or at least did their…read morebest to. Went in to grab some cat food, pine shavings, and a few other things and saw a few chick breeds were on sale. I asked for 2 wyandottes, 3 olive eggers and a leghorn. Thankfully the wyandottes and OE were on sale for the same price (1.25) so it's not money lost or gained, but still very frustrating. The manager (I assume is what she was), screwed em up and gave me one olive egger, 4 wyandottes. Also grabbed an ISA chick instead of a leghorn which I corrected before I even paid. The whole time she was boxing my chicks, she was also barking at people over her headset and outwardly just being super unkind and making for a really chaotic and unpleasant experience. Went to pay and informed the cashier that the chicks were just jumping all over the place and I was worried they were incorrect and I was right. Some nice guy came out and did indeed note that I had the wrong chicks, so he brought them inside. The same woman said replaced them (the manager), and gave me my box back without my leghorn in it. Went back in, got my leghorn, left. She said she grabbed "another black one" as well (to replace the 4th wyandotte for the second olive egger I wanted. Newsflash, olive eggers and wyandottes are the same colors for the most part. Major red flag.). Got home just a bit ago - wouldn't ya know it, I've got one olive egger chick and STILL FOUR WYANDOTTES. At least I've got my leghorn I guess. Absolutely embarrassing experience. I'll stick with rural king from now on.

I first came by Lee's Ace Hardware back on February for two reasons:…read more 1) I wanted to look thru the store and see if this was a store I could purchase hardware and other essentials from 2) I was looking to buy paint. I had just moved into my new home and some rooms needed to be repainted. I was pleased with their paint section. They sold a number of different paints by Benjamin Moore (which I have used in the past and really liked) as well as Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines. For those unfamiliar with who she is, she along with her husband Chip used to have a tv show called Fixer Upper, which I truly loved. Joanna Gaines is an amazing decorator and I had in the past bought some of her home decor online. The paint was beautiful and I almost did buy it. I may have gone with Sherwin Williams because the decorator and handyman I hired used this but it was almost painted with Magnolia Home. So if your looking for paint in the area, definitely check out Ace. I also explored the rest of the store in future occasions. They have a decently size outdoor furniture, decor and accessories area. They had some furniture I am definitely thinking about buying as well as their bird feeders/baths. I have always had them in all my homes and I am planning on having bird bath and/or bird feeders again in my new home considering there are so many in my yard. It's just a pleasure to see nature and I take pleasure and am fascinated in seeing bird fly about since I was a child. I will get to it once I am done with my major changes to my home. That said the store does have a little bit of everything but most of the departments are a bit small so you may not find everything you are looking for. For example, I couldn't find a large enough garden hose, only finding 50-75 ft hoses and I need much larger ones. Staff is super friendly, always asking if they could help you with a smile. All in all, a good hardware store and a good choice in the Van Wert area.
