I have been coming to Pajka Eye Center since 2021. I first went there because my mother had…read morecataracts and she needed to have that surgery. She had one surgery for one of the eyes, and needed me to take her to the appointments. While there I got to know about this surgery center and decided to finally look into Lasik surgery. My vision has been steadily getting worse as the years went by to the point I just couldn't see almost anything without glasses. Whenever i would misplace them, it would take me up to an hour sometimes to find them because i just couldn't see... i had to get super up close to see them. I have been putting off doing Lasik for years, partly because I was a bit of a chicken. I was always worried they would screw it up and I would end up blind. Ever see that old Twilight Zone episode, Time Enough At Last? It freaked me out when I first saw it years ago. Here is a recap from Wikipedia, if you never saw it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Enough_at_Last Yeah, i totally related to this guy, especially his obsession with books. The fear of eventually not being able to see and enjoy the things I love drove me to get the surgery. And the moment I decided I needed to correct my vision came in a trip in 2021, where I went to a hotel pool, having extreme difficulty seeing anything while I was in the pool and then for a while that I couldn't find my glasses for a while... made me realize I needed to fix this problem once and for all. So i went through their tests and was told 1) I was blind as a bat and 2) I was a candidate for Lasik. After a few check ups as I needed to get my eyes ready for the surgery as they were too dry, needing months of daily eye drops. The day of the surgery came. A friend of mine took me to the eye center for the surgery, and i went in. I signed some paperwork, given some pills and some eye drops to numb my eyes I gotta say, Lasik surgery feels weird. You do feel them working on the eye as your conscious and it doesn't hurt most of the time. Except the left eye which I was told it always does. The surgery didn't take long... think it was an hour. I wish i could say that I faced this without fear, but no. I did hold the hand of one of the nurses the whole time... especially during the left eye. Super thankful to that nurse. I went home and slept the rest of the day and really did a lot of sleeping that weekend. I had to wear sunglasses for several weeks, have 4 different types of eye drops to use for the next month and had to sleep with goggles on. My vision got progressively better and one week after my surgery I had 20/15 vision. Not sure what I have now as I have to go soon for another check up. Its amazing to be able to see without glasses on... even the colors are more vivid and vibrant. I am incredibly thankful for Dr. Pajka and his staff. My life is so much better since the surgery. They are very professional, caring and wonderful. If you are in Van Wert and Lima and need eye surgery, go see Dr. Pajka!

As I told the "eye doctor", I would rather have my teeth cleaned!! It's not the eye exam itself,…read morebut the way the staff act & talk --- not very welcoming! They must think because they talk fast & very ABRUPTLY that they are being efficient. Not so! It is not only annoying but makes you feel like they are stressed or being bothered by having to deal with you. During my recent appointment, the only two staff members who actually acted in a pleasant manner were the OD I saw & the lady who checked me out. This staff is in much need of "customer service" training--------this is not Mc Donald's!!~~!!!!

Well he explained again why he was there. It took them three hours for all exams. Why? Because apparently they decided to do a full diabetic eye exam even though they had been informed he was not there for this. After his eyes were dilated then he was given paperwork to sign, told it was consent to treat etc. Ok, upon leaving he was told he owed a 45 dollar copay. He paid thinking this was odd as he has Medicare and normally is billed after insurance is billed, he had no standard copay for anything. Got a bill from them asking for a 21 dollar payment after his insurance was billed, zero on this bill showing he had made a 45 dollar payment. I called, that bill was for a eye exam for glasses and new prescription for glasses. He gets his glasses and exam for glasses elsewhere due to Spectrum's cost. When I called I was told he was given paperwork explaining that Spectrum was doing an eyeglass exam and it would be 45 bucks. I asked him he said No he was not because he would have told them no. He was only there for the floater in his vision. I was further told that this had been explained to him and he agreed, nope! He further told me he was given the paperwork after he could not see to read it. Again, if he had read it he would have refused. I explained this to woman on phone who said it was their policy because they needed to find out why his vision was only 20/40. Now how did they find out his vision was only 20/40 without having done the vision eye exam for glasses? Basically they lied. He wears glasses, he went in wearing glasses so obviously he has vision issues. But he went in ONLY to find out why he had a floater in his eye. While on the phone going over charges I was told he also had been given this glasses exam because they found bleeding behind his eyes. Number one, nobody told him that, number two I'm looking at the paperwork they sent him home with,NOTHING about a eye bleed on it! This is something you think a patient needs to be told. I was told no he did not need to be told he had bleeding behind his eyes because they cannot treat it only monitor it. WTH? And again the glasses exam was done prior to them finding this bleed. Soooooo lie much Spectrum? As far as I am concerned they owe us a refund for the 45 dollar eye glasses exam. I'e requested his medical file from them. I'll be taking him elsewhere. He was sent home with a note to go buy over the counter eye drops, told the floater would disappear. I took my Mother in law to her appt at Spectrum, guess what, nobody told her they were doing an eye glasses that she'd need to pay 45 dollars for either. But office manager insists this is explained to everyone. No it is not, it is in with the consent to treat paper they point to signature area and say sign here, it is only consent to treat. Run, flee, go to any other place! This is one of only a few eye doctors offices in Findlay so go to Toledo, Lima, anyplace but here!
