One of the manager, Justine could of been more accommodated and show her appreciation to the Military? Of all the places we went to, WE felt very unwelcome here. Q, the waiter and the DJ try to make us feel better, the food was good but unsure if we would return. read more

We booked a party here for my mothers 80th birthday. The event coordinator was extremely hard to get a hold of we were discussing the party with her since March! eventually Signed contract and she took our deposit. The event coordinator calls us 3 weeks before our event to tell us they "accidentally" double booked our room and they knew about this 2 week prior. She refused to call the other party until we spoke to the manager. The reason why she double booked is because the other group was an designer! they ruined our party and we had to find another venue after we had already sent out invitations. The unprofessional-ism of this restaurant is insane! Ive never in my life dealt with something like this. I wouldn't recommend booking a party here!!!! they will screw you over and coordinator should be fired. read more

Highly disapointed!!!! I use to enjoy this place. My family came to visit me in NY and I was so embarrased when I took them to eat at Vistamar. My brothers order was forgotten. He had to wait 15 min for his seafood order. Then when he got it there were more empty seashells than seafood! My mofongo did not have chicharron, it was cold and the pernil was also cold and dry. The manager tried to rectify one order by discounting most of the bill for my plate, but did nothing about my brothers. I asked him to rectify my brothers bill for that horrible seafood plate and that I would pay for my horrible mofongo with pernil plate. He didn't. I would never try to get over on a bill. Trust me, we can afford the bill. We just wanted to enjoy the food and service we thought we were paying for. Mayor disappoinrment!!!! read more

The renovation is phenomenal! It provides a new aesthetic to the place. Absolutely beautiful and apparently they're not even done!!! Lets talk about the remarkable and attentive service that I was provided. All the hostesses were accommodating and cordial, but none more than Ms. Jessica. She made us feel welcomed and was on top of her game. She made sure that we were good, asked us how the food was, and made sure that we were taking care of in a timely manner. My girls and I felt like we were receiving the best service in City Island. The servers were on point (especially Walter) and you can tell that they are starting out with a new management, but they worked together like a family and that says a lot about the whole establishment and the new owners. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to all my friends and can't wait to reserve a party. Best food, service, and ambiance in City Island!!! read more

On 10/12/19 (Saturday) I went to Vistamar with my family. I ordered the broiled seafood and my son ordered the mac and cheese with Lobster. I will say that when my food came it looked delicious. It was enough food for two and it tasted delicious. The plate contained, half a Lobster, Clams, Mussels, Calamari, Shrimp, and a Tilapia fillet. I ate all the food and took the half of Lobster home along with my sons half of lobster and the rest of his food. When we got home my sons stomach was aching and my wife fell ill too. I took out the food and I realized that my lobster and my sons were bad. They both had a strong order of ammonia which is an indication of shell fish going bad. They must have used one spoiled lobster and cut in half cooking one half in my dish and the other in my sons. VISTAMAR DONT CUT CORNERS SERVING SPOILED SEAFOOD !!! read more

The food and the staff were awful! Went there on a Saturday night and the place only had about three tables full which were all birthday events. Pros: Seated immediately Cons: It took forever for someone to attend our table although the restaurant was practically empty. The service AND the food were awful. Our waitress was very rude and she answered every question with an attitude. She walked away several times and waited a long time before coming back to our table. I felt discriminated. The foods were awful. No flavor :-( By the way, the cocktail drinks listed on the menu; NONE were available that I wanted. Waited a long time for valet parking Only two of us dined in but yet gratuity were already included on the bill. I am glad I looked at the bill or I'd tip again. It's not right to automatically include gratuity on your bill if it's under six customers. We were only two of us. The waitress had an attitude; she wasn't a nice person at all. She was very impatient and kept leaving our table. Tips are earned and she did not deserve the amount that we were automatically charged for gratuity. It took more than an hour to bring our food to our TWO people table. It took 1 1/2 hour for us to get our bill. The food was too expensive with no quality. I wanted to try this restaurant but NEVER AGAIN will we return neither will I recommend. The music and only Latin music they played were very loud. Are they expecting only Latinos to come in the restaurant? We couldn't have a conversation; couldn't hear our own voices with the loudness of the music. The rest of the customers were very loud and drunk out of their seats dancing and getting in your face. I will NEVER return or recommend this restaurant. I also was expecting more seafood on the menu; I was very disappointed since it's a restaurant in City Island expecting the delicious seafood like the rest of the seafood restaurants on City Island. Very disappointed and a waste of my time and money. I very much agree with Darlene S. review on 7.9.19. Similar experience! read more

I went for lunch on Saturday July 27th. I was surprised of how modern and how fashionably decorated it was inside. Floor to ceiling windows with great views of the harbor, white painted stones, white chairs, white tablecloths for a sharp sleek look. Ultra clean with polished service people inside. The food was very tasty with large portions and reasonable prices. The drinks were certainly not watered down. I don't give it 5 stars because the valet parking is chaotic and I feel they automatically added an 18% gratuity for a party of 3. I totally didn't' expect it and if I hadn't checked the bill line by line I wouldn't have noticed it. It's the first time I've experienced a gratuity added for a party of less than 6. read more

Went for brunch on a Saturday with my family. The service was nice; our waitress was attentive. Food was sub-par. Eggs weren't cooked as ordered and the steaks were just ok. We were the only table there; music was fun; wouldn't go back. read more

We went there for a family Mother's Day dinner and was very disappointed. We had a 6:30 reservation and didn't not receive service until 7pm and only because we asked another waiter about service. Someone from a complete different section of the restaurant came to serve us because no one in our section acknowledged us. After telling us there was some delays with the food and it would take 1 hr for the food to come out ( way too long) we decided to wait. 1 1/2 layer the food come, but we are still missing an order and the food was undercooked. At no point did the manager walk over to apologize or offer us anything. The server was great and did her best, but some things were out of her control. I had to go to the host stand and speak to the manager myself because she wouldn't come to the table. I've managed restaurants before and I understand that thing s happen, however someone of a higher power should have walked over and at least offer an apology. We were very excited to go there and left hungry and disappointed. Waited 2 hrs for food just to be disappointed at the end. read more

Should've known not eat here when the experience didn't start off good. A good size group of us went to eat there for early dinner around 3:30pm. When we arrived we asked for a table for 9 adults and 3 children. The hostess stated we will have to do a pre-fixe menu of $45/person including the kids because we had 9 adults. When we asked what's the age limit for children she said 12 & under. We done informed her that one of the people we counted as an adult was actually 12 yrs old, she then changed the number to 8 adults. We were confused as to why she adjusted the number afterwards. We then asked if we spilt the group up as the $45/person was not something we were interested in as we only wanted to grab an entree and that's all. She had a nasty attitude and said "fine, but you will have different waiters." We said fine and sat separately. The actual waitress we had was the same for both tables and was amazing, however the food was a complete disappointment. One person order the pernil it was tasted like leftovers and was completely dry, the fried pork chunks was over cooked and dried as well. The steak with onions was over cooked and surprise, was dry as well. The best thing was the garlic bread they served before the food. Don't know if it was on off day but reluctant to try again. read more

This was the worst meal I have ever had on City Island. You guys made me look bad. I came with 3 family members for our first time. The service was super slow. The poor waiter was the only one working outside. The most expensive meal on the menu was horrible. There is a seafood for 2 meal. Please don't order it, it comes DRENCHED in a sauce. Neither the waiter nor the General Manager knew what the sauce was!!! It is not stated on the menu. In this day and age of food allergies this is a huge oversight. When we asked for napkins we were given 3 napkins. My friend couldn't eat the food with the sauce. She asked for friend shrimp with vegetables instead. The General Manager came to us and we explained about the sauce. He even agreed that it should be stated on the menu. After we all finished what we could and waited for her food it came out wrong!! After such horrible service they had the nerve to add $50 gratuity. We were given a 15 percent discount and that truly wasn't enough. The mofongo was super salty and the chicharrones I asked for never came with it. It was a bad experience from beginning to end. I completely wasted $60 that I could have used somewhere else. Never again!!! read more

Great for groups! My friends and I decided to choose to come to this restaurant with our families after our college graduation and it was a good choice. Although the service was a little off (maybe because I'm a waitress myself so I'm antsy about it) but overall it was great due to the AMAZING food and drinks. Their portions were unbelievable.. I wish I was able to take pictures. Everyone enjoyed their churrasco, pernil and most especially the seafood paella!!! I went to the bar afterwards and took full advantage of the bartender. Her drinks were super on point.. coconut piña colada, Henny punch, and mojitos! read more

After taking up my a friend's recommendation I went here for a Mother's Day brunch . The service was horrible and the entire experience resembled more of a cafeteria style dining . The pre fixed menu was very limiting and wasn't clear upon doing a reservation. (I would've gone elsewhere for what I ended up spending). From the appetizers (a house salad with no tomatoes/onions - just lettuce) to waiting 15mins for drinks (no speciality cocktails were ordered) to even waiting for the check for 15mins I would never return here. read more

I have been to this establishment twice. Once on Easter Sunday and the other was some time in May, 2018. The food is great, but next time I'd prefer take out. The music is extremely loud for a restaurant and you can barely have a conversation with your party. If I were looking for a lounge/club scene it would be great, but I just wanted to have a nice dinner with my family and that was not possible as this place seemed like I was at a party. read more

My friends took me for my Birthday last night we drove almost 2 hours to get there but it was worth the drive. I had the King crab legs for 1 and they where the best I every had not to mention the portion was so much worth the $. And yes the drinks are a little high but you really only need 1 to feel good. The staff was great always making sure we where ok. Will be back in the spring so we can sit outside. Can't wait read more

Went here with a couple of co-workers to celebrate a birthday. Felt like we were rushed through dinner by the server Lorena. This was understandable if there was a crowd waiting to be seated but there wasn't. Would definitely try another place next time. read more

So earlier tonight I went to a work dinner meeting with my friend/business associate at this restaurant. Everything was going okay, until I asked the waitress "How is your bistec encebollado?" With an annoyed 'for real?! Is that what you will order?!' Facial expression, she goes "its okay, but we have so many better cuts... T-Bone, Fillet mignon... etc." Yes my love! I just looked over your menu! But I'm craving bistec encebollado. Is onion steak too low class for you to serve? My friend is Albanian to understands spanish 100% and he felt hurt. In the end we barely touched our food. Of course I kept it classy and made sure her bougie (choice words) got tipped... he almost didnt. Even at end, she made sure she said "Thank you, Good evening" to my friend and said good evening to me as she was walking away with a fake smile... not knowing that she got tipped BECAUSE of me. It's one of those spanish places that provide good customer service to people they think they can get a good tip from. Look like you're lower middle class and you will be put in the "who cares?" category. Or who knows, her spanish judgemental ass probably thought I was hooking... smh. read more

Gio!!!! That's all I have to say. Such a great waiter. Charismatic, humble, and very patient. The food was great, but GIO took this experience to the top. read more

First time dining had a good experience. Options on the menu vary enough to satisfy everyone. Se vice was very good.

It took me a while to write this review, after thinking about it I said yes I will do it. I want there about two years ago, as I understand the owners have changed since then. The food was magnificent I had the pork.Well I went back again the day before Mother's Day this year. And to my the food sucked. The skin was soft the pork was very salty. Totally disappointed. I was really looking forward to going back there and enjoying the same dish again,Since I live up state and don't get a Bronx that often. The service was slow, not enough waitresses. They tried their best. The place is beautiful what a shame. No matter how beautiful place is,if the food is bad, it won'tsucceed......Well I went back today 8/4/19. After writing my first negative review, I received a very nice response from the manager, apologizing for my experience, and hope I would return and give them a another chance.Well I did,and I was disappointed again.this time I told The server about the soft skin on the Pernil ,she assured me thay will make It crunchy. It was delicious, but all that was all that was delicious. It was salty and dry like the last time the black beans were tasteless. My Puerto Rican Mother Father world be embarrassed! I will never and I mean never eat there again.I don't understand why people go there,Maybe it's the ambiance. But that's about it!!!! read more

I'm THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED!!! I wasn't sure initially if I was feeling the music upon entering. Just bc I'm not accustomed to that dining but I like it. A lot! I sat at a two seater but my man and I like to sit on the same side together. There was an empty table near me. The manager or hostess came over and moved the table over so that we were able to sit next to each other. That type of attention is not customary. Immediately got points. Then Geo, my waiter gave me advice while I needed it. Baked clams or casino. Got the casino. SO ON POINT! Yum yum yum. I was full by the time dinner came. Prices are great for city island. Believe me and the portions are generous. Service fast and friendly, cleared the plates immediately when done. Mango/peach Sangria delicious. Pleasant pleasant experience. I WILL BE BACK!!! Bravo. It's been a long time since I've been impressed. Thank you. Excellent experience. read more
