I know this is long but PLEASE read all the way through if you're considering this storage unit.
I feel bad writing this review because my first experience about a year ago with Dana at Vista Park Storage was pleasant and professional - I left a wonderful review (but updating now). 3 months ago, my boyfriend and I needed a storage unit for our move and we left a good review then too because the move in experience was great. Dana got us the right size unit with no pressure at a fair price and he got us all the move in supplies we needed. The grounds were clean and secure so I appreciate that.
I will just list out the weird experiences in order? They get strange.
1. Dana does his "rounds" on the grounds to check on the units, I suppose, but he'd always stop and talk for a while even if we were short with him and in a hurry. We small talked, though. He asked where we were moving and how it was all going. That's it. This happened a few times that we were there, even when we had other people helping us get things done. We never gave notice that we were leaving and our unit was clearly full.
2. The next day, or so, my boyfriend got a call but he was driving and didn't answer. Immediately after, I got a call from the same number and answered. It was Dana asking when we'd be out. I let him know that we are still working on the move so it was too early to tell and I would definitely contact him when we would be leaving. He seemed okay with that answer but mentioned how he has people from all over needing units...
3. I got a call literally the NEXT day from Dana asking when we'd be out. Again. So yet again, I told him we weren't sure but would let him know. I felt like he was pushing us out, especially when he mentioned other people needing units.
4. Immediately after, I got ANOTHER call from Dana and just couldn't answer because he was making me anxious. He left a long voicemail saying sorry and that he hopes we didn't get the wrong impression because he wishes he could always have customers like us and we can stay as long as we need. I appreciated the apology but I was still uncomfortable being rushed out and constantly questioned by him.
5. A few days later my boyfriend and I went to the unit to get as much as we could. Dana stopped by doing his rounds again and asked where we were moving (which makes me uncomfortable when people ask). He then said he wanted to make sure that I wasn't upset with him for all his calls and that he just wanted to know when we'd give notice but we could stay as long as we needed. My boyfriend told Dana that we literally never gave any indication of us leaving anytime soon so we were confused by his insistence about needing a notice.
6. We finally cleared out the unit and took the lock but we held off on giving notice because we were strongly considering continuing to rent the unit for our odds and ends and wanted to discuss it more. But literally not even 24 hours later, Dana emailed us a move out receipt and closed our account. My boyfriend called him the next morning and Dana made a comment that he wishes we had of given our move out notice sooner because he missed a sale. Are you kidding me?! We literally didn't give notice because we are paying you for a unit that we were planning on keeping longer but he rushed us out even though he continuously told us we were great customers?
I just don't get it. I can recognize that times are different thanks to Covid-19, but that doesn't make continuous bad experiences okay. He's friendly, but he also crossed a line with us and made us feel like we did something wrong. He pushed us out for the sake of a new sale. This isn't the type of storage unit where you can go in and out as needed or in a hurry without being bothered. And although he told us we were welcome, we clearly weren't, so he lost a long term customer and we are no longer looking to stay there.
As for all the other good reviews on Google, I'm sure a lot of them were honest BUT he was offering a discount for 5 star reviews so just do as much research as you can before making your decision. read more
