I need two full time jobs and this place allows me to work a full time position while working another full time job. The training was great and they seem to really care about their workers. I would choose BrightStar care any day and every day! They don't make it a big issue if you call in sick and check in on you to see how you're feeling. I do not recommend this place for your family as far as communication and med issues as well. the social worker is suppose to be supportive and on your side when these issues arise instead they turn their heads to this! I have made reports! not great if you want to get answers, you have to figure them out yourself And fight for your family members no one else will!!! this is horrible so much stress to go through when all you want to do is spend that energy on your sick mother! I'm sad for my mom to have to go through what she endured I was the only one to save her from harm. You trust your family with compassionate people and that's not always the case so sad! She was heavily over medicated on morphine! Than told me she was actively dying which she was not and giving last rights because we thought we were near the end when she was over medicated! You don't see red flags until you go through it wow unbelievable!!!!

My Sister spent 3 days at Wedum. I am physically disabled. I…read morewas her Health Care Rep. and ONLY person to ever talk about end of life with my sister, EVER! I had ONE chance to visit my sister while she was at Wedum- she was still being chemically restrained with Thorazine past being able to eat or drink or awake for over 10 days! Upon arrival, the Social worker, Hospice and other staff bombarded me immediately the moment I showed up! I had purposely not called, to avoid being harassed, I wanted to be with my sister! They turned my visit into a business meeting, the moment they made me leave my sister's room, apparently to sign one form, and to yap constantly at me, repeatedly, telling me what my feelings were, when I again asked for detailed written list of meds and told them to reduce or remove the chemical restraint! After 30 minutes of this, I was too exhausted to stay and had to go home. I never saw my sister alive again. I had repeatedly told Hospice Coordinator, half a dozen Nurses, Doctors and Social workers; from her first intake at Abbott forward, that chemical restraint was unacceptable and my sister did not want that! They did so without consent! Lying saying the Thorazine was to " relax her and make her a bit sleepy" , "they give it to people with hiccups"! I went home and did a lot of research! Thorazine use in Cancer patients; except for one specific type of cancer where it is an actual treatment; is specifically used as a chemical restraint, and is inappropriate when it makes patents comatose, unable to drink or eat, along with showing immediate specific adverse reaction symptoms (see: Drugs.com, Medline and others) as it immediately did with my sister who was dehydrated and starved to death! https://www.firsthealth.org/app/files/public/e3cf0ed7-0822-4c26-a019-a238095ee21f/For%20Physicians/chemical-restraint-education.pdf My sister had appropriate indicators for a managed short term use at the hospital, but not 10 days of drug induced dehydration & starvation! Once transferred to Wedum, I repeatedly ASKED everyone I spoke to about her care to reduce or remove the Thorazine, as we agreed before she was transferred to Wedum! I also requested a complete list of all medications and told them they had to contact me before changes or additions(AGAIN)! A day later, I called her Hospice care coordinator (witnessed by my daughter& her husband on speaker): My younger sister was visiting and called me from Wedum, having been given a very different story (lies) about medications and care. She had asked what meds our sister was on and why they couldn't give her IV fluids: The outright lies began! Answer: "She's just on "anti seizure" medication (Valium). And no fluids because they would have to stick a needle in her..." - not true - she had a pic line and rectal cath! On to the call: I explained to the coordinator why I was calling . This time I demanded they stop the Thorazine and compensate with Valium, and opiates, which I had approved at Abbott. I got an argument! More telling me what I was feeling until it got to the point she said it was "Xxxx's wishes", I said; " that's not true!", I was the only person who had any idea of my sister's wishes, which I clearly stated at our first meeting at which my Daughter was present", and told the Coord. that my daughter was present now and listening on speaker, I asked if she would like to speak with her (daughter), her response was silence. I stated clearly, that my feelings were none of her business and have absolutely nothing to do with managing my sister's care, that this was a business conversation! Then not so surprise, surprise - I get a call from Wedum that my sister is dead 8 hours later - exactly the time it takes to die from total dehydration and starvation- not the cancer!. The week before transfer to Wedum, and a day before the total doping to oblivion with Thorazine, my sister was AWARE, aphasic, confused and , frustrated, angry, lashed out and about; But she was not in pain, eating, drinking, walking and had regular moments of lucidity. We were told she had months not days or a week, before the Thorazine coma! Warning to all who has a loved one at end of Life! Put your Instructions for care in Writing, signed by their care coordinator and witnessed and Record all phone calls!

The care our father received was exceptional and our family was treated with such kindness by everyone at the facility. We were able to gather in comfortable surroundings, the environment is soothing - surrounded by natural beauty, sunlight streaming into the rooms. Wedum offers sustenance for families, and provides easy sleeping accommodations - as we chose to stay the night with our dad. We cannot say enough about the support and care we had from the experience at Wedum. This hospice center made everything easy during the most difficult time of our lives. Management is terrible, they expect all these expectations/high quality services from staff and employees but cant seem to notice that they're over working us. We are so tired trying to keep up with the pace of the work load. Doing our very best in every possible way to provide the best quality care for our residents. We love our job, thats why we tend to stay here so long and work for our residents. Please higher more people to put on the floor or give us a raise. So it seems like our work is actually worth something because the work load and pay isn't balanced. Additionally, instead of providing all these educational learning resources, because of how many warnings this building has gone through. Maybe we should look at why it even happened that way in the first place. Because literally everything we do is in a time crunch, of course accidents are bound to happen. Like it would be nicer if you hired more people to work, the work will be evenly distributed. There would be less of a rush and for things to be done correctly/accurately. But that int a topic y'all are ready to talk about because we know y'all can afford to hire more people to work but choose not to. Lastly, standing up for staff and employees. We are usually the first people to get accused of something and not even our own employer stands up for us. Which is why so many people leave. For example, one staff member that used to work there was accused of abusing a resident and was interrogated by police officers. After the interrogation they literally begged her to stay and work because they were so short staffed. When she was supposed to go on leave due to the allegations, and for an investigation. It was probably so traumatic for her but they just expected her to continue working. When her livelihood was on the line. Which just demonstrates that there is no support for their staff and employees. So furthermore, do a better job, there is a lot of improvements that need to be made. Im even surprised this place is still running and operating when administration is doing bare minimum and it just trickles down to all of us.

I am not exaggerating when I say that they treated us like family. They ended each interaction with our mom by turning to us and asking "and now is there anything we can do for you?" They gently answered questions about the death process to help us understand what was happening. The room was beautiful and spotless. There was pull-out bed and recliner in the room so we could be with mom overnight (which was good since she passed in the early hours). The lower level has small prayer room and space to relax and talk with family. I give them my highest recommendation and would give them 10 stars if I could.

I…read morealways wanted a more natural birth and didn't know what was possible until I found the MN Birth Center. Every appointment leading up to the birth of my little one was awesome. Each appointment the midwives made sure to answer all my questions and I never felt rushed. My birth and labor were really long due to baby's position and I know if I had been at a hospital I would have ended up with drugs and a c-section which is not at all what I wanted. But the midwives and nurses were there the whole time helping me through it at the birth center and on the phone when I was at home. Even though giving birth in a pandemic is not what I expected. I am so thankful for the MN Birth Center for the opportunity to give birth how as close as how I wanted to during such crazy times.

My care was dropped by Health Foundations Birth Center at 34 weeks pregnant but I was able to continue with the amazing staff at the MN Birth Center and have the birth experience I had been hoping for!
