They had the sand sculptures up and it was amazing. Truly beautiful and incredible to see in person. The beach itself is clean, well kept, and absolutely gorgeous. Parking was not too hard to find and it was reasonably priced, which is always a plus. You can also tell they really cleaned up well after the hurricane. Everything looked great and it was such a nice place to spend the day. I will always recommend this beach.

Paying for parking immediately. Set the tone, especially since there's nothing particularly special about this beach. On top of that, I didn't realize until after I paid for parking that it's not dog friendly, which feels ridiculous for such a wide open public space. Sand, I did venture out for a while and the sound was ultra fine which super annoying. The views are okay and it wasn't crowded which is nice but now I know why. Most of the people I saw were much older and were fully dressed walking on the pathway and not really utilizing the beach. There are so many beaches in Florida. I'm not sure why anyone comes here. Nothing stood out or made us want to stay or really justified all the inconveniences. This beach is just meh and if you're close by ok but definitely not worth going out of your way for.

Mother's Day Madeira Beach…read more May 2026 We waited until later in the evening to finally walk out onto the beach after the Florida heat cooled down enough for us to enjoy it safely. The Gulf was is so beautiful at this time of the day , the breeze felt soft against our skin, and the fine white sand stretched endlessly beneath our feet. My mother is in her 80s now, and as we walked slowly together along the shoreline, I found myself thinking quietly... how many more days... months... or years do I have left with her? Life is so precious. Time moves faster than we all realize. Being able to spend quality time with my mother is a rare and precious gift.. moments like this at the beautiful ocean with the sound of the waves crashing along the shoreline... the warmth of the sunset wrapping us with tactile and visible heat .. At this moment in time I cherish every single moment I have with her. Nothing is forever

Gorgeous scenery, never ending blues that fade into pure white sands, beach-houses so spectacular the design cognoscenti applaud for their visuals gleaming in the sun kissed backdrop of "La Florida" The Land that Ponce de León claimed for his king and faith, naming it "La Florida" AKA "Feast of Flowers." OuiOui. What a beautiful feast indeed, non-commercialized, natural, secluded, what seems to be a never ending dream.. a paradise, as far as the eye can see, never crowded. Keep walking, ponder life's journey, then, keep going.. breathe in the sea air, you become "elated." To walk or tread on air is to feel "elated." Every breath you take, every step you make, walking, breathing, free flowing breathing, living in the moment, breathing in the Madeira beach sea air, breathing in the precious spark of life, inhale, exhale, the name of God, reminds me of the story of the name of God.. "There was a moment when Moses had the nerve to ask God what his name is. God was gracious enough to answer, and the name he gave is recorded in the original Hebrew as YHWH. Over time, we've arbitrarily added an "a" and an "e" in there to get YaHWeH, presumably because we have a preference for vowels. But scholars and Rabbi's have noted that the letters YHWH represent breathing sounds, or aspirated consonants. When pronounced without intervening vowels, it actually sounds like breathing. YH (inhale) ~ WH (exhale) So a baby's first cry, his first breath, speaks the name of God. A deep sigh calls His name - or a groan or gasp that is too heavy for mere words. Even an atheist would speak His name, unaware that their very breath is giving constant acknowledgment to God. Likewise, a person leaves this Earth with their last breath, when God's name is no longer filling their lungs. Being alive means I speak His name constantly. In sadness, we breathe heavy sighs. In joy, our lungs feel almost as though they'll burst. In fear, we hold our breath, and we often have to be reminded to breathe again in order to help us calm down. When we're about to do something challenging, we take a deep breath to source our courage. When you think about it, breathing is giving him praise. Even in the most difficult moments. God chose to give himself a name that we can't help but speak in every moment that we're alive." All of us, everyone, everywhere forever walking, sleeping, breathing, with the Breathtakingly beautiful name of God on our lips. "YH" inhale, "WH" exhale.. breathing, walking Madeira beach, on moi path, "elated" treading on air, Glorifying moi life force, moi Chi, moi Aura. Glorifying YH WH. "Added to my list of top 10 beaches in America." Highest Recommendations.

We took a ferry from Merry Pier which was $25/person but totally worth it. We even stopped on the way to watch some dolphins frolicking in the water, once we got to the key, it was a treasure trove of shells. I'm not a big shell fanatic, but my mom is so this trip was all for her. That said, I found myself loading up and squealing with delights every time I found another amazing shell. I can imagine it gets pretty busy in the summer. There are no restrooms or amenities of any kind here, so come prepared! Seriously. Umbrellas, water, chairs. Whatever you're gonna need to stay comfortable because depending on the ferry service your choose you may be stuck there for at least a couple hours till you can go back to the main land. Absolutely loved it here!!! According to the visit St. Pete/Clearwater site: Shell Key Preserve is a 1,828-acre preserve located in the mouth of Tampa Bay, which includes a 195-acre barrier island known as Shell Key. This is a perfect secluded getaway spot without having to travel far. The Preserve is an important sanctuary for nesting, wintering, and migrating birds, as well as a popular fishing and boating area. Access to Shell Key is limited to water vessels, including private boats or public shuttles such as the Shell Key Shuttle. Remember this is an undeveloped barrier island and there are no facilities on it. And, while boaters can pull their boat right up to this island preserve, they should check local tide charts before navigating the shallow waters that lie to the east of Shell Key.
