Don't let the residential area confuse you (as it did for us). :) The Temple is here! REVIEW: Not to be confused with a church building or a Temple, this is the Mesa Temple Visitors Center. This center shows, teaches, educates, and informs the public community ^about the Temple. A few other Latter-day Saint Temples have a Visitors Center, including the Los Angeles LDS Temple in Santa Monica, CA. The Mesa Temple Visitors Center has performances (usually held at Christmas or Easter time) on the grassy area across the street from the Center and next to the Temple. Sadly there weren't any performances on this visit as we were there before Easter. I can't wait to see the Christmas performance here one day! There are missionaries inside the Visitors Center who will share with you about the Mesa Temple and its history. There are videos and short films you can watch as well to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the purposes of Temples on the earth. I definitely recommend a stop here. Education and history in one spot.

I have been down the street at the other end of North Mountain, but this was my first time over on this side. Ample parking at 8am, restrooms available and the hike around Shaw Butte was lovely. I had a great time! A little bit of cardio (I could have done more uphill - maybe next time I'll jog it up), beautiful scenery and great company! The weather was also lovely as can be. After we hiked, I checked out the visitor center and wowsers the place was loaded with info and items for purchase. A very nice volunteer chatted me up, tried to get me to volunteer (I had to say no but was tempted), talked to me about a Rattlesnake Garage talk starting at noon and other activities they have here. It's a really nice visitor center with books, Native American arts and snacks for sale here. Hours are limited so check the times when they are open. I stayed a bit for the Rattlesnake Garage and it was neat to see all the different kinds of snakes we have here! I'll definitely be back here again for a hike and visit when I am up this way!

This is a very real, heartbreaking and difficult journey. Mogollan Treatment Center specifically~LIZ~ has literally been a life line in an ocean of everchanging uncertainty. I do not know how I would have been able to navigate this without her. She is always there to talk, oftentimes for hours, day or night. The obvious dedication and love for her chosen profession is jawdropping for me and so very appreciated. I don't really have the words to adequately describe my appreciation for this unique woman. I am forever grateful for LIZ and the Mogollan Treatment Center for help with the most important journey in my and my child's life.
