Absolutely loved staying here! It isn't far from metro Phoenix but feels like you are out of the city. The park was really well maintained. We had a beautiful spot with amazing views. Hiking trails are easy to access. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend and return.

Weeks before reserving a site at Lost Dutchman State Park, I watched a Hulu show segment that covered the disappearance of a hiker who supposedly was searching for gold. That was creepy enough to avoid. Next thing you know it, we reserved a site. I was like oh snap. LMAO. We stayed at site 99 and had the perfect view of Superstition Mountains. I'd say it would be the perfect place for Hallows Eve. Our site had electric and water hookups. No sewer, but a dump station available at no additional cost. I highly recommend. Don't let the haunting stories discourage you. If you aren't an advanced hiker just don't push it. It's peaceful and felt I was far away from my reality. I have enjoyed the get away tremendously.

So beautiful camping, hiking, fishing, picnicking. This camp spot is awesome. Our whole family came here for Thanksgiving the place was packed but you could hardly tell. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Campsite # 2. Beautiful views, semi private space.

Great place to stay! Arizona State Parks are so nice, cleaned and raked after every stay and have beautiful views. Lots of campground hosts if you need help, or have questions. They also sell fire wood for $7 a bunch. The dump station is clean and well maintained. This particular campground is hard to get in so you'll need to book way in advance. Like 6 months ahead or more. A value at $25 per night (dry camping)! FYI for RV'ers, we are in space #2 which is super tight to back into. Google map before you book. We love this place!!

Great spot to get away for the weekend and enjoy some quite time and desert oasis. Spots are large, we have 34' RV with slide outs and fits perfect with lots of camping space to enjoy. Beautiful at night for star gazing and our spot, #57, had perfect backdrop of Superstition Mtn. Quiet and friendly.

Long trip and yoga at the end

we were there on New Year's and there were very few people. Hiking was long and safe. no wild animals and the temperature was very pleasant. And at the end there was wonderful view

The views are worth climbing to the top of your rv

It's beautiful. If you are close and need an escape, This is it! I wasn't expecting much so I thought the bathrooms and grounds were exceptionally cared for. Get your firewood from camp host early, we had to go to 4 different camp host before someone actually opened up their door to help us. This was at 6pm, the camp host are open (supposedly) from 8am-8pm

Great park for a quick getaway from Phoenix. There are some well maintained sites and restrooms nearby with showers. Plan for passerby's if you have pets or ask for a more private site. It was perfect for us and our schnauzer.

Wow!! All sites have a beautiful view, clean, quiet, connected to all trails right outside your site. Water and electric hookups at most sites. Bathrooms/showers not in convenient area though very clean. Two dump stations. Five minutes away from Goldfield, an original western town, a must to visit. We will make this an annual destination.

Great campground with RV hookups (water and electrical) and dry camping spots $30/night. Dump station, fresh water, ranger station with some books, gifts, and information, ranger led hike and other educational programs. Perfect for fall and spring camping.

We requested to be next to the other person in our party months ago when we booked and was told no problem. Instead we were rows apart. Check in host (short blond hair lady) was extremely rude when we brought an issue with our site to her attention. Spots are not level. Be prepared to spend an hour leveling your rig. Other reviews mention this but camp host says they've never had a complaint. Sure buddy. The bathrooms are very outdated and smell like mildew. Playground is very empty and outdated. It had one single bench for parents to sit on. One swing set with 3 swings and a small merry go round. Some major improvements can be done here since this is a family campground. I have never seen a koa without a play structure for the kids. Long term guest leave their dogs in their campers all day barking and management doesn't care. Also stay clear of the middle dryer if you plan on doing laundry. I had to run it three times at $2.25 for a 25 min cycle to dry the small load of laundry I did. Don't try to follow the map posted outside the office as it's wrong. There are basketball hoops and a horseshoe setup but they are in a very poor location- they would be much better up by the playground vs in the back by the dumpster. When we brought our concerns regarding the extremely un level sites and rude workers to koa corporate they brushed it off with the excuse "each koa is individually owned and operated" but yet they carry the koa name and drag it thru the mud. I will not be renewing our KOA membership after this experience and will make it a priority to try to not stay at KOAs after this.

They keep improving the park and it's always clean when I go -- which is quite frequently (at least once a week, but usually more in the spring and summer). The facilities have changed for the better over the years and there is actually more parking within the park itself than you might guess. The volunteers are friendly and do a wonderful job welcoming people, collecting fees and offering advice. Recently, there has been work on the Pass Mountain trail that reroutes it a bit and makes it more easily passable. Wind Cave is still really popular with families, but I have noticed Talon getting a lot of traffic, especially from mountain bikers. The loop around Pass Mountain is great for a longer challenge. It's good for a car entering or him entering without the car. ($20 extra to add an additional person, but I'm covered if I'm in the car with him.) Such a great variety of trails and elevations here. There is truly something for every type of enthusiast. I walk a lot on Blevins which is about a 3.3 mile loop. My husband does trail running. I always see lots of mountain bikers out enjoying the trails. There are also trails like Wind Cave: it's about 3.2 miles up with around 1000 ft elevation gain. At the top you get a great view of Phoenix and Ft. Hills. If the timing is right you can even see the famous Ft. Hills fountain going off in the distance. In the spring if it's a good wildflower year you might see some good wildflowers on the Pass Mt. trail. It's really just a beautiful park to come visit and enjoy the beauty of Arizona. I've seen a gila monster, rattlesnakes, lizards, jackrabbits, coyotes, tarantulas, deer and scorpions so stay alert but enjoy!

I don't do a good job keeping track of all the hikes I complete (unlike other friends I know who…read moredocument everything), so for the beginning of 2026, I'm going to try to do a better job of documentation. I love the Lost Dutchman and have been here several times and it never gets old and each time I come, I am still so awestruck by the beauty of this mountain. Years ago, I completed Flatiron with my then partner and didnt know that it was rated a very difficult hike. I enjoyed it, got a really nice work out and liked the scramble up to the top! I just remember it was quite windy at the top but spectacular views. Dogs are allowed on Flatiron, but don't do that to your pup, its a pretty gnarly hike, let your puppy rest honestly as I saw so many doggies struggling. Tonight, I came just for a leisurely stroll right before sunset and also hoping to catch the first almost full moon of 2026. I love nature and being outdoors and my favorite way to spend time. Park entrance was packed tonight and the fee was $10. There is a small visitor center with souvenirs, guides, some snacks, bathrooms and last minute hiking needs. I think you can also camp here, check on their website. I parked in the Cholla day use lot and did part of the Treasure Loop and hiked for about 3 miles slowly, and spent about 2+ hours in the park. My goal tonight wasn't really to hike strenously but more to get a glimpse of the sunset and the beautiful 2026 Wolf Moon. All my goals were accomplished. Park is well maintained. I used the bathroom and it was very clean and a nice park bathroom. Plenty of covered picnic tables too. Park closed at 8pm tonight (winter). There are all different level trails here and the rangers here are super nice and helpful. Ask them any questions and they are happy to help. There are also many kinds of free maps available in the visitor center. I had a MTB map, a hiking trail map, a birding map, a native plant map! I am all mapped up! If you come and do a hike, wear sturdy hiking shoes, wear sunscreen, head covering, bug spray (there were quite a lot of mosquitoes when I hiked tonight which annoyed the heck out of me as I left my bug spray at home), lots of water, some snacks, and also headlamps (I hiked back down after sunset and the headlamp helped a lot). One of the best AZ state parks, the views are amazing (so many couples here getting their photos professionally taken), definitely check it out.
