Can I give this place 2 1/2 stars? Came in after work on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't busy in the store. Thought I could get in and out for an eye exam. I was told there would be a 2 hour wait. Yikes! Made an appointment for another day. Had all of my docs processed in the meantime to save time for the appointment day... Come appointment day still waited a bit. This is a run of the mill optometrist. No conversing outside of the exam process. If genuine customer service is what you are looking for in an optometrist office, this isn't it. The place gets the job done though. Lens selection is mediocre at best. Would not be surprised if they try to up-sell lenses you might not need. Take your prescription to another store to get your glasses. read more

This place is so ghetto and not professional. My son ordered grey sports glasses and when I went to pick them up they weren't the same pair. They were black. I went and grabbed the grey ones from the drawer they were in. they had the wrong SKU on the demos on display. The gentlemen popped the lens out of the new pair and put them in the demos and handed them to me. They were dirty and used and had adhesive on the sides. He said if I don't want the demo, it's gonna take weeks to get another pair. He didn't even give me the option till I complained. I will never go to a visionworks again. read more

Been going to Visionworks for years and no real problems, until this last go around. Ordered contacts to be paid under my insurance and said they would text when they came in - three weeks passed and nothing. Called them - after wrestling with a tele-robot, I was placed on hold for 20 (!) minutes. They said their computer (convenient transference of responsibility to a machine which can't refute) texted me, which it did not, and so I cancelled the order. They were quick to take the insurance money, but overall, it seemed like they didn't really care. Working on getting the insurance $ back and am shopping for a new provider. The optometrists there are nice. read more

Even if you have an appt, you still have to wait like two hours. Worst place to come to for a first timer. I won't be going back!!!

Marie and Tiffany were so helpful and took their time with me. They made sure my sunglasses were right and fixed a scratch on my current lens. I love this location. I have had several appointments at this office and they are always great. They offer extended hours which is hard to find, the office staff are always willing to help me find a time that works best for me and reschedule if needed. The doctor is very friendly and efficient. I was a new contact lens user and the tech really took her time to show me the process and allow me to practice in the office. Contacts came in super quick and they will even mail them to your home to save you a trip back to the office. The frame selection is great and as I only needed eyeglasses as a "backup" for my contacts the employee helped me order the most economical pair. Sorry see all the negative reviews on here, I have no complaints. read more

If you're having a bad day or just hate your job JUST DONT COME!! If i day my prescription hurts my head and my eyes just let me see the doctor DONT try to debate me bc the prescription is "weaker." I am very keen on providing exceptional customer service and if you lack the mental capacity on any given day -- then you should NOT BE AT WORK! Especially when you have a customer front facing job. I walked into this location and the young lady that handed me my application (Sabrina) was very friendly; however, the young lady who performed my exam was not friendly AT ALL. It seemed like EVERYONE of the workers were zombies and did NOT want to be at work -- including the doctor. The customer service at this location is absolutely deplorable! The young lady at the front desk, was basically lying on the counter while processing what appeared to be paperwork. TACKY. I will say Glenna, the young lady that helped me find my glasses, was a gem! She definitely understands providing exceptional customer service. I will not be returning to visionworks. read more

UPDATE so I reviewed this joke of a provider's office a few days....when I thought things couldnt get worse......they do.... So at the end of my original appointment, they advised (as they always do), 10 to 14 days for my glasses to come in and they would call me. So at about 12 days I called just to ask and the lady who answered on this past Thursday was very snarky and bitchy. I said well let me make sure you all have the right ph number. She rattled off some number I have NEVER had and was not mine. I told the correct one and said could she check again to make sure they didnt come in and they may have called the wrong number...she replied back very rudely that they have a "system" and blah blah blah....why so rude idk esp after they had an incorrect ph number. So the next day, Friday, I worked half a day downtown, got off, ran some errands literally in the shopping plaza where this place is. Get home and was preparing to get ready for a function I had that day and look at my email and guess what....guess.....email at 9am saying my glasses came in. I live across town in Lavergne it's now 415pm...on Friday so there's traffic. I called them and some lady confirmed my glasses were indeed in. I proceeded to explain my disgust bc I had just left the area and asked why noone called. She blankly apologized and was like we dont call ppl, we send texts etc....I said the rude lady just the day before said I would.get a call. Keep in mind I have used Visionworks for years and always gotten a ph call, this location being my first and LAST....so I throw on my clothes, trek in traffic and get there and I asked for a manager to call me bc I did not have the time to explain my dismay. She says she is the manager. Wow so ineffective and again the same generic ass sorry. If this is management, no wonder this place is in the state it is in. This place is a joke...and they still had the wrong number. I will never use this place again and if you value your time and energy, save it for a place that deserves it! read more

Very disappointed with the experience my mother went through with this office. My mother was very embarrassed about the situation so I was not made aware until now, months later. She went to do her vision exam along with my younger sister. My mother is not from here but has tried very hard to learn English, but of course naturally, she has an accent. As they separated my sister to start the exam, my mother had to fill out some paper work with the front desk. This woman asked my mother how long had she been in the United States for. My mother responded saying a pretty long time. She then proceeded to belittle her and responded "it should be about time for you to know how to speak English properly". My mother just stayed quiet and brushed it off. I hope this racist woman no longer works there because I would never want to anyone to experience what she had to. I want to thank Misty at Visionworks in Smyrna,Tn. She did an amazing job for two days trying to get me into a Retina Specialist. The dr. Thought I might have a detached retina or some situation with my eye that required a retina specialist. As I stated Misty called three different specialists before she finally found one for me to see. I was very concerned about my vision and she had the compassion, concern and professionalism to do whatever she could to get me to be taken care of. I did go to a retina specialist and my mind was put to ease that it was not a detached retina, but there was some concern about my condition and I do need to have a follow up visit. I've been wearing glasses for about 40 years and this is the worst experience I have ever had. I already had a prescription so no interaction with the optometry department. It required several visits (about 8 or 9) and I gave up. I don't want to go into details and relive it. I will take my frames somewhere else and get the prescription done properly. And yes, to the other reviewers...there is that one young woman who should NEVER have a job in any field requiring customer service. I didn't get her name because she was never wearing a name tag, but she is so rude and the last time I was there, I pointed her out to the manager. read more

I brought both my sons in for eye exams. One ended up needing glasses and the other got contacts. The Dr was friendly and the staff, especially the lady who helped my son learn how to put in and take out his contacts, was exceptional! The only reason I am giving this 3 stars is our second visit was way better than our first visit in less than a week. Our first visit we saw Dr. Williams and he was terrible! He saw my 3 year old and gave the eye exam like my child was an adult. He over prescribed her eye in one eye. We had to go back a second time, 4 days later because when she received her glasses she was crying that one of her eyes hurt worse than the other. This time we switched doctors and saw Dr. Michael. He really took the time to examine her and used his knowledge about the eyes. He pretty much did her eye exam manually after receiving her prescription from the computer. Also, he put the prescription lens in a test like glasses to see if she could see what was on the chart. He under prescribed her so that she would get used to her prescription because it is pretty high. Over prescribing her would of really hurt her eyes. He also gave me the knowledge to prepare her for her next exam so it would help him prescribe her better. The staff was a lot of help in making sure the computer script was getting it right and provided her with stickers and a lollipop for her good work with the machines. If you end up going to Vision works with a small child make sure you call in to schedule an appointment and ask for Dr. Michael! The front desk people could use a bit more training. However, they were still nice. No one is perfect. read more

The doctor is great and I normally don't have an issue as I drive extra to come to the location. I was ON TIME for my sons appointment and there were only 4 chairs in the waiting area due to COVID we checked in and sat down. We waited about 10 minutes then walked out to look at frames. As we sat back down to wait longer there was a mix up with my sons insurance and another person in the store. An African American woman came over and told me that the waiting room was full and that they only have 4 chairs and if WE could go to the other part of the store and wait. So I informed her that there were currently an insurance issue and that I was waiting for that to be resolved. She responded with don't get mad it's about safety. Ok 1. Ask the people that came in after me to wait in the other area of the store. 2. Don't interject yourself into what's going on because you were wrong all the way. And 3. Don't come talking to me if you don't even know what's going on. Thanks.... read more
