The eye doctor is wonderful, but unfortunately, the staff are not helpful, unprofessional, and very rude. Twice now they have lied saying to members of my family that they tried calling us to cancel appointments, but they have not. It would be nice if they reached out before we were already on our way to our appointment or already showed up for our appointment. I just got a new insurance for my son and I thought it was great that the closest place right in town participated with the insurance. My son has not had glasses for several months since he broke his and I was waiting for the new insurance to come in. They said he wasn't showing up in the system and told me they couldn't do anything to help me with an attitude. I then called America's best. They explained to me that even if he wasn't showing up in the system they would do the exam allow him to pick his glasses and put everything on hold for a few more days as sometimes it does take a few days for the insurance to kick in. I'm very thankful for America's best in the fact that you were willing to help me with a smile. I will never come back to this place again, even if it is only two minutes away. I went in a month ago. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS PLACE!!! GO LITERALLY **ANYWHERE ELSE**!!!! I bought one pair of glasses thru my ins. And then I bought 2 pairs for bogo - @$265 (My bill ended up being $450 dollars. DISGUSTING! ) 1) they didn't bother to tell me that they would also be tacking on $170 for the absolute SH*TTIEST LENSES I HAVE EVER HAD IN 35 YRS. You're just looking thru a fog the entire time. This isn't a "reflection" issue. These are absolute garbage plastic lenses that are clearly made to not only reflect your own eyeballs and lashes back at you, but pick up every single light in the vicinity and then they're designed to SPREAD THE LIGHT. Literally blinding you. And making themselves legally liable for car accidents at night. I have almost crashed multiple times because I was blinded by headlights coming the opposite direction. 2) the 1st pair of bogo glasses came in and so did the insurance covered pair. The bogo pair - the only one I actually really wanted - was INCORRECTLY ORDERED. I went to pick it up, wrong pair. I told them this in person, 2.5weeks ago! They said that day they'd order the correct pair. I STILLL haven't received a call or text or email about them. When I went in and saw they ordered the wrong pair, I told them I wanted corrected receipts! They GAVE ME A NEW RECIEPT WITH THE WRONG FRAMES SHOWN - AGAIN!!!!!!!!! 3) ITS BEEN OVER A FKN MONTH****!!!!! And I STILL HAVENT BEEN GIVEN MY EYEGLASS PERSCRIPTION! I STILL HAVENT BEEN GIVEN MY CONTACT LENSE PRESCRIPTION!! 3) They claimed they didn't have the MOST COMMON contact lense prescription in office to try on. IN ANY BRAND!!!! I was told I'd get a call and have to come back in to try the lenses on. AGAIN! Its been OVER A MONTH!!! I still haven't gotten a call. I AM NOT BUYING LENSES FROM THEM!! Yet! They got my contact prescription wrong. It was too low and I was having trouble seeing. When I went back to have it rechecked it turns out I needed a higher prescription and they charged me $50 for the 5 minutes it took to recheck me. I will not be going back. I had an eye exam on Oct 20 and purchased some glasses at that time. Never received a call to pick up the glasses so called today (Dec 5) to check the status. The glasses are there. "How long have they been there?". "Not sure.". No acknowledgement that it fell through the cracks. No awareness of customer service. The staff at this Visionworks has been weak for the many years I've been going there. No sense or urgency or doing their job properly. Dr.Puzio is fabulous and he's the only reason I continue to give then my business. Once he retires, I'm out of there. DO NOT recommend this Visionworks location. read more

I first used this location back in October/November of 2021. This was my first experience with a vision works. I would have to say the savings with my Davis Vision Plan was very good. But that's where the good ends. Having used another major chain eyewear provider in the past I was more accustomed to personalized care when picking out frames. Here I got none until I was ready to finally sit down and decide. I didn't let that bother me so much as this was a different company. When I went back to pick up my frames my fitting was not the best. The approach to the fitting was not professional. They didn't let me even remove my mask to help with the fit behind the ears. I left very dissatisfied with the wonky ill fitting glasses. Consequently I never wanted to wear them since they didn't fit right. It took me well over a year to finally get back to this store for an adjustment only to leave with the same disappointment. When I walked in the only question I got was too tight or too loose. My response was neither they don't fit right. Rather than actually put her hands on the frames or take a close look she just went about and tried to make some "adjustments". She handed the frames back to me and still not right. She took them a second time again to no avail. Her response this time was that I will have to return tomorrow when the Dr is there. This only solidified my theory that the people supposedly trained to fit the glasses were not even professionals in that craft. I left and promised myself I will never return again and I won't! I went to a competitor store (not vision works) and they happily adjusted my frames and ensured there was a proper fit. The attention to detail was night and day! Right off the bat the woman who helped me could see the glasses were uneven and crooked. It took several adjustments to finally get the glasses to fit. My suggestion to vision works would be to better train your staff in fitting as well as customer service. read more

This place is okay but I am giving it four stars because of how nice Dr. Puzio is. He is amazing and caring. He did my first eye exam and I was very grateful for how patient, kind, and attentive he was. I did not have a problem with the staff when I was there, unlike the other reviews. I went around looking for a frame, selected one or two, and then paid for the one that I liked. The lady who took care of me was nice enough to assist me. The only improvement I could suggest was its speed, from eye exams to the arrival of my contacts. Currently, there is only one optometrist in the office. I think the office could add another one so more people could get their eye exams. Furthermore, my contacts took up over a week just to arrive at the office. That may be because of how specialized and detailed my contacts are but I don't think they need to take more than seven days just to arrive. Overall, I would recommend this place for an ordinary eye exam but not for ordering contacts or glass frames. read more

I had an awful experience the last time I was here. It took almost a month to get my contacts and I had to follow up several times. At first the woman said it was delayed, then it was in the mail, etc. Finally I said I need to speak to the manager and poof! my contacts were delivered that night. However, the order was missing a box and I had to call yet again. Then she didn't even give me a box of contacts, she just gave me 6 samples. I think she made it look like I said a box was missing when it wasn't. However, it was really missing the box. Also, one of the boxes that I did receive in the mail was expiring in several months. Finally, they were warm-- I don't think they had been kept at the right temperature. It seemed like everything that could've been wrong with my order was wrong. This blonde white woman basically gave me the run-around for a weeks. I tried calling and asking for the manager and was told that she was on vacation or not available. I've actually been a customer of this store in one form or another ever since I first got glasses. They were formerly the Eye Doctor on Shunpike next to a Roy Rogers. Now I am on my last pair of contacts and I think I need to find a new place. They never seem happy to serve customers. I've received rude voicemails from there pertaining to upcoming appointments. So i used to go to specs for less all the time for my glasses and i was really nervous going into vision works because i felt like they maybe where going to be to much trying to haggle me like I've felt with in my last experience. And let's be honest a lot of places don't have the best doctors or people who are informative because we'll it's a chain, BUT i made my appointment online walked in 10 mins early front desk girls checked me on and let me roam without the pressure of having someone on top of you! Huge plus!! I chose my glasses before my finally exam , as i got my eyes check the doctor walked me through step by step how everything in my eyes worked , the different tissues, what he was looking for, and i never got that from even my specialist ! ! At the end for 2 pair of glasses with everything blue light filter, you name it i got it, all for 345 bucks ! 2 pairs ! ! I spent almost 600 on my one pair ! I read the reviews and decided to give Visionworks my business anyway. I walked in and the woman at the desk asked if I had a appointment. I didn't realize I needed an appt to pick out glasses. So I turned and started to leave and she wanted to know what I wanted. I showed her my prescription and my insurance card and she said I could pick a pair of frames from the clearance section. When I asked if I could pay the difference if I found a pair that was not on clearance she told me no, I would have to pay full price for any other selection. What good is having insurance if you are restricted to which glasses you can get. No measurements were taken and when the glasses arrived they were not fitted. I really like Dr. Puzio and have been going to this place for years when it was Eye Drx. This is the second time that I'm walked out and vowed never to go back because of the staff. First time was when I arrived on a Saturday 15 minutes before closing and the door was locked but office staff were behind then desk and refused to let me in to pick up glasses. Today, I was pleasantly surprised when they told me I could come in right away for a repair to my frames. They even told me they'd try to fix it while I waited but if the frames couldn't be repaired they could pop the lenses into another pair of frames. I dropped everything and got to the office and they told me I'd have to wait until Dr Puzio was back next week. Before I had hardly gotten the glasses out of my purse, one of the staff glanced at them from 8 feet away and said they couldn't be repaired. She was rude with an attitude while the other office staff looked on sympathetically. Do they not realize this is a service business and I can take my business elsewhere? read more

Probably the worst customer experience ever - and that says something since I fly a lot and have had my bags lost by an airline. The doctor is so nice, but the associates clearly don't have his outlook as far as running the office. The rude associate told me I couldn't get a copy of my contact prescription that day, now, two weeks later, I learned she could have (and I would have contacts today). They put me on hold today for 15 minutes and when I called on another line they picked up and gave me the information after pressing for it. This whole experience has been negative from the moment I walked in. Sales person "helping" me was rude and was asking me every 5 minutes if I found a pair yet when I was trying on glasses. I felt very rushed like I was being an inconvenience. Once I ordered the glasses they told me it would would be ready in a week. I thought that was unusually long since LensCrafters can have them done in an hour. Well, in reality they were not ready until two full weeks. There was no follow up to even call me to let me know they were ready. When I was able to finally pick them up two weeks later they needed to be adjusted (something wrong w the lens). When I went to pick up my glasses I told the employees my name and the lady at the front rolled her eyes at me and then claimed she couldn't understand me and made me repeat it several times, each time rolling her eyes at my name. I speak perfect English and my name is not hard at all, so I know the employees just didn't want to deal with me because I'm Hispanic. All of the employees seem to think they're better than everyone and that they can't be bothered. Never coming back again, even though the doctors were great. Dr Puzio is a very good doctor and understands how to work with his patients. I have seen him numerous times for at least 10 years. But, the front office staff are less than professional and lack the needed skills to represent such a good doctor. I recently called for an emergency appointment due to an eye infection, was put on hold and then told me the same insurance that has been used for years is not taken, in a nasty tone of voice. No longer a quality business. I am no longer a customer of this business. Just plain awful. There are numerous comments stating similar experiences. Why not follow thru with your staff and provide proper training to meet customer expectations. One star is generous. First, I was not given a prescription for my glasses at the end of the visit, which by law is required. Whether you ask for one or not, the provider is supposed to automatically give you one BY LAW. Second, the optometrist was kind, but my prescription was way off from what it has been for many years for both contacts and glasses and she also said I had an astigmatism. She asked if I had headaches or any other problems wearing my current prescription and I said no. She said to do a trial with toric lenses, so I did, and I called back because I couldn't read signs and other things I was able to read from the same distance with my prior prescription. Third, when I asked for the prescription for the contact lenses I trialed that did work, I was told I need to make another appointment to get the script. I asked why I needed another appointment just to get the script when I already trialed the prescription the doctor ordered for me and they worked, the front desk did not have an answer. Fourth, the staff is completely unprofessional and rude. Actually hung up on me multiple times when I called because I was deemed an inconvenience for wanting to obtain my prescription that I have a right to obtain. They do not say their name when they pick up the phone, and when I asked for the name I was hung up on. Fifth, they tried to push and bully me into buying glasses and contacts from them, like everyone there was commissioned, including the optometrist. I will never be going back and they will be reported to the FTC for violating the eyeglasses rule. read more

I took my kids over the summer to get eyes tested and glasses made. The doctor could not have been nicer. We really enjoyed meeting him and having him evaluate our kids for glasses. If i was rating him alone, i would give this place 5 starts. but like all the other reviews mentioned.. the front staff were sort of cold and uninviting. I was not a fan! They definitely don't compliment the awesome optometrist they represent! Glasses took the whole time they said they would take (which is nuts in today's day n age when you get them elsewhere so quickly). They fitted my kids and we came back home. Next day while cleaning one of my kids classes i noticed a pretty large spot which I couldn't wipe off. When i took it back, they did offer to replace those for me and redo the glasses. But again, couple of weeks with no glasses!!! I feel the mark was so big, there should have been no way that they sent the original pair damaged like that. tells me they have no quality control in place on the corporate side. This place is a good 40 minutes drive. So was not happy about all the time i had to waste because of someone's incompetency. read more

I was not disappointed at all, in fact I hadn't been to a better eye doctor in all the time I've had to go to one, and I suffer from keratoconus so I've been to a few specialists and well known establishments, but yet none better than this one. Everyone from the floor associates to the doctor were really inviting and friendly. The doctor took such good care of me and I felt confident that he would take care of me. I have used Visionworks at this location for years and have found the staff and optometrists friendly and helpful. However, last fall my gas permeable contact snapped one month after purchase. I contacted the manufacturer at X-Cel specialty contacts and they agreed to try to help replace the defective contact as long as Visionworks acted as the intermediary in the exchange. No one at Visionworks was willing to help facilitate this exchange. Very disappointing. read more

The Doctor I saw was awesome! That's the only reason why I gave this review 2 stars. Otherwise, I'd give it 1 star because of the attitudes of the rest of the front desk staff. I worked with 1 woman (young blonde) who was very rude and abrupt! Every other word was "Ma'am" with a condescending tone. She was so off-putting that I should have left but I needed to get it done for an upcoming trip. The first thing was that I specifically made an appointment since I was going on my lunch hour and I didn't have a lot of time to wait around. When I got there, I told her this and she immediately gave me a hard time. Again, she was rude and disrespectful. Ultimately, I didn't have to wait long so that was a plus.
